901  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 7970s + PCI-e cable risers = trouble on: March 24, 2013, 08:10:58 AM
remember to short pci-e presence pins if you are having problems. also some boards shut off pci-e slots if other pci-e slots are populated. i have a msi z77a-g45 and it will run with 6 gpu cards no problem.
902  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Radeon 5970's and 5870 on: March 23, 2013, 07:16:18 PM
Is it at all possible to see if they artifact or have problems? Like running 3dmark, or OCCT:3D:GPU in error checking mode? If they arent operating game-ready, it's going to significantly cut down on their value, because they won't be able to do what they are designed to do, and only be good for a very niche market.
903  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] [Old] Radeon 5970's and 5870 on: March 23, 2013, 04:53:44 AM
Looking to buy 2 5970's and 1 5870. Preferably reference, but might take non-reference. Also preferably game-ready; no artifacts or malfunctions. Accessories and original box is a plus. Post what you have and prices here in thread. Can pay with Paypal, Dwolla, Serve, Chase Quickpay if you have a chase account, or Popmoney, maybe others. Can also reluctantly pay with bitcoins if it's 100% necessary.

Edit: Old thread, and cluttered with a deal that fell through. Making a new thread.

Just wondering though, what is the purpose of these vs just a regular case? Maintenance? Just cheaper if you are running a dozen rigs (cases are pretty cheap). I wouldn't mind doing one for the cool factor but I'd like to factor a few design decisions in there.

Cant fit 6 graphics cards into a motherboard by directly plugging them in. You need to suspend the cards somehow and use riser cables. In order to do this, a standard ATX case is not viable. It also allows clearance between each GPU for air circulation.

I am interested in a 5870 for $115 shipped to 54501. Do you know if they are game stable?

908  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Tips for a newbie on a 7950 rig on: March 21, 2013, 06:03:20 PM
Hello all.

Newbie to cryptocurrencies and I am thinking about trying to mine Litecoin. I have been looking at the following parts for my computer.

GPU: 7950, either Gigabyte (3 fan cooling) or MSI (2 fan cooling). I am kind of bending towards the Gigabyte. It has higher stock clock speeds among other things. My plan is to buy 1 videocard first and then add a second one if everything works out. Are they both good for overclocking, undervolting and all that, should I need it?

Motherboard: anything with a Z77 chipset is what I am looking at. There is multiple brands to choose from. Do I need to look at anything else than make sure the board has 2 PCI-E slots and CrossFire support? Should I just buy the cheapest one?

CPU: Intel i5-3570K

Memory: 2x4 GB

Thanks in advance for any tips. Good to be in the community.

Will this be for coin mining? If so, you don't need nearly that much ram, only 2gb will suffice. Also I recommend the MSI Z77A-G45. It will work with 6 graphics cards, no problem, granted you have pci-e risers. I have 2 rigs with 8 gpu's each (6 cards) using this board.

Hi, I have stopped mining litecoins, and I have 5.50340927 litecoins stuck on the pool. It won't let me pay out because there is no manual payout button and it's below the 10 litecoin automatic payout threshhold. Could you please force a payout of the remaining balance to the litecoin address on file? My account name is ssateneth

Avalon ASIC Unit – Batch Three

88 Bitcoins? That's over $5000. What the fuck? I thought they would only cost $1500.

i'll trade you 1 of your 5970 for my 5970 that has bad VRM. Maybe you can fix it. It's detected in windows, and it'll mine btc and ltc, but one vrm is extremely hot. At 450MHz and 0.95 volts, the one VRM will say 108 amps and 95C at 100% fan. I'm not comfortable running it any higher MHz.

home made risers with "activate 1x" hotplug bridge, and additional power molex

what is "activate 1x" hotplug bridge?
and is there anywhere a technical sketch how to add an additional power molex (because for me one card has broken without additional power molex)
TIA

i would like some 1x > 1x risers with the PCI-E presence mod please. I don't need the molex mod. i can provide risers.

Purchased 4x5870s, 2x6870, 1xMSI GD65, and 1xTX950 PSU.  Coins sent.  Will update when received.  Thanks!

I am interested in 5 5870's and the $90 msi motherboard combo. I'm hurting on bitcoins, but I have other payment methods such as Dwolla, popmoney, serve, Chase Quickpay (if you have a chase account), and paypal. Because I'm buying so many parts, maybe you'd like to give a little discount? Grin

Would be shipped to 54501.

everyone just trying to make a quick buck

Thats the point of bitcoin mining. If you aren't mining to make a quick buck, you're in the wrong business.
