That wouldn't be likely 90 USD then.I believe someone mentioned that Gox hasn't fixed the glitch on orders in other currencies showing up instead of USD only.

Birdies shouldn't get in the way of bull runs, imo.
243  Economy / Speculation / Re: Resistance approaching on: March 27, 2013, 10:59:10 PM
Weren't we saying the same thing when it was in the high 60's-low 70's?

I'm still quite bullish at least for the next two weeks.Due to Coinlabs,Cyprus banks re-opening and EU-wide worries concerning bank account seizures of some sort and the fact Bitcoin has been getting some press. As we speak just hit a new 89.50 high on the gox, lol.
244  Economy / Speculation / Re: Google Search Terms: "Gold" vs "Bitcoin"...future value indicator? on: March 27, 2013, 06:54:15 PM
I find this article maybe relevant to the discussion.
Quote
It's durable.

It's portable.

It's fungible.

And it carries intrinsic value.

Surely we're referring to gold and silver, ya?

Nope.

Gold and silver bugs have now transferred these arguments — the ones they used to insist  that their metals were the only safe investment — to something seemingly gold and silver's antithesis: Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is a form of electronic cash designed to bypass financial institutions. It's created by computers, which "mine" for it by cracking preset algorithms.

The biggest advocates of Bitcoin on the internet are folks that for a long time were non-stop touting gold and silver as the true forms of money that could be used to rebel against the existing regime.

Max Keiser has pushed silver like crazy for years. He even advocated the notion that somehow if you bought silver, then you were harming JPMorgan.

Another huge precious metal bug is the Canadian Jeff Berwick, who uses the monicker The Dollar Vigilante.

Now both have gotten the Bitcoin bug and are pushign the merits of Bitcoin on their websites:

Asked if it could someday match silver or even gold prices, Keiser responded by email that Bitcoin could someday capture "between 1 and 10 percent" of the entire global currency market, which "implies a price of between $100k and $1 mn."

Bitcoin will thrive because it helps merchants avoid banks, Liberty Blitzkrieg blog author Michael Krieger writes:

I think it represents another way to fight back against the current repressive and immoral monetary system that has a strangle hold on the planet.

And Zerohedge calls bitcoin "the only market that is open," and it's become a huge subject on the site.

Bitcoin remains prone to hacks and technical glitches.

But the value of Bitcoin has skyrocketed in recent weeks thanks to a variety of factors: the crisis in Cyprus, an announcement that the Treasury Department now seeks to regulate Bitcoin exchanges, and a spike in Bitcoin interest from Spaniards.

These days the price of gold and silver aren't doing much, and people have lost their obsession with it.
245  Economy / Speculation / Re: [POLL] How much money have you invested in Bitcoins? on: March 27, 2013, 06:47:31 PM
This is a could a/should a/would a post, but I've been using bitcoins as trade (for items/services) since I've started and not really been saving on to them.  So currently my btc value is slightly over $575 (at time stamp of this post).  Had I just kept them all, I'd be sitting at around $16,000 *sigh*

But I justify it by saying that I helped the economy by using the coins instead of hoarding them. Smiley
That is pretty rough.Lost some of mine doing the day trading thing but what I have retained has me smiling when I learned it was just better to hold.
246  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will we hit 100 today (Wed 27th of March) ? on: March 27, 2013, 06:34:56 PM
Actually,we hit 100 since the 70's if you knew where to look then.
247  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 27, 2013, 05:13:40 PM
Gosh, I want single digits now!!!!!!! CRASH! Everybody sell!!!! Somebody please, start a new FUD thread!
Ah,I remember those days and the desperation on here when it was in the single digits....the irony.BTC has matured !
248  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 27, 2013, 03:22:18 PM
88 should be broken about now.
249  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 27, 2013, 06:33:57 AM
I still think the biggest joke on us would be $100 per btc on April 4th....however we're likely to very well exceed that by the current pace.

Where was that joke? What's so special about April 4th?
My bad,I meant the 1st.

251  Economy / Speculation / Re: $80 HIT on: March 27, 2013, 02:05:22 AM
I think the next thing we might wanna do is watch the Google trend searches carefully and see if BTC has an impact also in the UK market,in addition to if the Coinlab deal goes through ultimately without issue as Cyprus might be only the beginning.

Does anyone else see no trades coming through? Clarkmoody and bitcoinity haven't updated for me in for about 5 mins.

EDIT: As soon as I posted I did see a mighty 0.1 buy come up.
Expect things to slow down as Europe sleeps!
254  Economy / Speculation / Re: Things are happening behind closed doors, very important for Bitcoin things. on: March 26, 2013, 09:52:22 PM
In 2 years, bitcoin is either well established and known currency or very much dead after another epic crash and disinterest. Nothing in between.
Lol,During the time period when I first read this forum this is exactly what individuals were saying after the crash and you know what happened I bought a good amount........the rest is history.
255  Economy / Speculation / Re: 8 hours on: March 26, 2013, 08:51:14 PM
This is like saying the price will hit 100 USD per BTC on April fool's......  o_0.
256  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Shall we blame ASICs for yesterday's difficulty hike? on: March 26, 2013, 08:40:58 PM
I wonder if this could be the reason. It would be very shameful if it was I think.
257  Economy / Speculation / Re: Recent Price Rise driven by Euro on: March 26, 2013, 08:17:09 PM

I noticed that too, but it seems a bit more than usual in the last days.
Yeah,I think there is general distrust throughout Europe and one just has to look at Google trends over the last 30 days to see where the interest is coming from. This kinda helps with pushing transactions as well in Cyprus.

258  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 26, 2013, 08:07:24 PM

and remember not every person deemed to owe taxes (says the IRS) are actual taxpayers. or complete taxpayers

in other news; i had an important question regarding coinLab transistion that got little response

Will CoinLab require ID verification and will they allow USD redeemable codes?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=158470.new#new
I think someone mentioned that Coinlab will likely issue 1099's for tax purposes and therefore it seems likely they will require ID verification if it is true.I don't know about the USD redeemable codes though.
259  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 26, 2013, 12:29:03 AM
Large wall has moved to 76.5 from 77.

Someone trying to force the price down? To what end?
I don't think that is the intent just to get individuals to sell under a certain price so when the price does appreciate[which seems likely] they will have even more BTC to manipulate the market whether bear or bull.
