41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New coin for coronavirus on: March 19, 2020, 06:51:16 PM
Just seems like a terrible scam coin that's taking advantage of a serious situation that's currently impacting the world. Doesn't seem like it's going to have much longevity past when the virus is still actively spreading based on just its name alone, and I'd agree with the quotes in the article in the OP that this is extremely immoral. Just another example of people trying to profit no matter what the circumstances are.
42  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Right time for gambling addicts to come out of addiction? on: March 19, 2020, 01:08:25 AM
I don't see it as the 'right' time by any means because stopping as soon as possible once the effects of gambling have a significantly negative effect on your life is always best, but it is a good thing for those who are truly addicted to gambling because I find a lot of those people need some sort of external shock to come to their senses or think about what's really been going on with their lives.

It's also entirely possible these people find another type of gambling like roulette or dice to play or something else that involves skill.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will coronavirus encourage people to use crypto more thoroughly? on: March 19, 2020, 01:04:49 AM
I don't think so at all considering credit and debit card payment is so prevalent and much more familiar to consumers than cryptocurrency. A lot of people are scared of using crypto from recent volatility including the large dump with BTC that we had earlier too, which doesn't help at all. I could see some more crypto usage in regards to things like online gambling, but most people looking at online gambling will also likely use debit or credit card payment. I wish more people would use crypto, but nothing's really pushing people towards using it at the moment and most regular people do not have any interest in it.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Exactly Caused The New Drop Of Crypto? on: March 18, 2020, 09:16:02 PM
As most others have said, there's a number of different reasons for the drop but coronavirus just happened to be what set the ball rolling downwards, though one of the more unfortunate things about the whole situation was that it occurred right as Bitcoin was rising towards $10k and $11k again. People got fearful of their investments and/or needed to use some of their invested funds, so people started exiting the markets and things snowballed into a large dump as fear started driving market activity and still is driving market activity.

The great amount of fear that likely led to this rapid decline makes me personally want to invest heavily into crypto again, but I'm still continuing to dollar cost average as normal as to not catch a falling knife. We've sunk a ton but I believe there's still a possibility that we could go lower still if the situation worsens.
45  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What indicators to use? on: March 18, 2020, 09:10:41 PM
This isn't an indicator, but I would suggest that you at least learn the basics of support and resistance flips because they're very common in trading even outside of crypto, thus it's useful to be able to recognize these levels even if you don't act on them.

An indicator that I'd suggest you look into is ADL or the Accumulation Distribution Line. TradingView actually has a short wiki article on the indicator here (click for link), and I've found it to be an easy indicator to use at a glance once you understand the fundamentals well.
46  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Play gambling that require skills and techniques. on: March 18, 2020, 09:04:00 PM
I don't agree that you should ever favor one type of game over another when it comes to gambling. Even though skill does play into certain games, most of them are still very much luck-based and it becomes almost equally risky compared to other more traditional games like dice or roulette. If you find skill-based games to be more interesting or you're interested in trying them out, then by all means play them, but don't expect it to be any less risky and always remember not to spend more than you can afford to lose, especially in these times.
47  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CS:GO and Betting on: March 18, 2020, 09:01:52 PM

They even cancelled the Dota event, maybe they will cancel the major aswell?

Seems like a number of DOTA majors have already been cancelled according to this article I found through Google, though it does say that there's one remaining major coming up that hasn't been cancelled yet that is in Singapore during June. There's no way to tell what the situation with COVID will be like that far out, but I don't think it'll be over that fast and thus I believe it's only a matter of time 'till that's also cancelled.
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 20000 pieces of Bitcoin wreck the market sounds annoying on: March 18, 2020, 08:58:43 PM

I think the huge pieces of bitcoin dumped was not actually the dumping factor, i feel like it aided the fuds spreading at that time regarding the present pandemic that we are in.
So once the bitcoin was dumped, the news tagged it as a way to get fiats to get accessories for protection against the pandemic, then fudders joined suite and dumped along, until it reached a limit.

Its normal in crypto currency, and fudding is part of the game, thats why as an hodler or investor, you must always do your own research and follow the news.

I agree with this; the large amount dumped was probably a reaction to global markets as a whole in response to COVID-19. Fear's still present almost everywhere at the moment in crypto and traditional markets, even in those who weren't affected by blatant FUD from others. FUD's not the only part of crypto, but volatility as well; we've seen plenty of insane fluctuations in price since Bitcoin's inception, and that'll likely continue.
49  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it worth it to hold a small amount of Binance coins to save on trading fees? on: March 18, 2020, 08:54:33 PM
It's definitely a good idea IMO considering the savings you get can add up much quicker than you expect. It's great just for that purpose alone if you primarily trade on Binance; whatever's most convenient for you at the end of the day, though buying a little bit and holding now could be a good thing as it's fallen in USD value recently like most other altcoins.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will be the new method of "Initial offering" this year? on: March 18, 2020, 01:02:03 AM
I've noticed IEOs have been the most popular method of distribution recently and I expect it's probably not going to change for the forseeable future because there doesn't seem to be as much of a stigma attached to IEOs as ICOs once did, which was one of the things that prompted most newer projects to start offering IEOs instead of ICOs in the first place. It just doesn't seem necessary for a newer method of fundraising yet, though I'm open to new methods.
51  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Things you shouldn't do when gambling at casino this time... on: March 18, 2020, 01:00:04 AM
Washing your hands and keeping yourself clean should be up there in the list of priorities as well. If you're unable to find hand sanitizer where you live because people are hoarding or reselling it, then just wash your hands whenever possible.

It's just not a great idea to be out and about in general while coronavirus is spreading around even if you're not in the age range that is most affected by the virus because you can potentially spread it to more vulnerable people even if you don't just die outright. It's a great time to try online gambling if you haven't in the past.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do not be fooled on: March 17, 2020, 09:38:30 PM
If you're correctly investing and you haven't spent any funds that you might've needed to use for a situation like what's going on with coronavirus right now, there's not much reason to sell now especially when the markets are so volatile and panic is widespread. Nobody knows where the markets are headed next, but selling or buying based on emotions is rarely a good thing to do. If you're looking to accumulate coins, dollar cost averaging now is a good place to start while things are so volatile.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mouth work wonders in crypto on: March 17, 2020, 09:31:36 PM
Absolutely. This is why a lot of projects pay more famous people including influencers just to talk about their service, and why things like social media campaigns, signature campaigns and bounty campaigns in general exist- because word of mouth is a great way to get the news out about a site or service you're offering.

People are definitely more cautious about what to invest in especially with the large volatility we've been seeing recently, but these things can still have an impact especially on smaller-cap coins.
54  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is like day trading ? on: March 17, 2020, 09:28:10 PM
Both are terrible if you overdo either one. It's very easy to overtrade and take less than optimal entries into positions, and it's also very easy to overgamble and spend funds that you've set aside for everyday spending and your savings in general. It's also entirely possible that you could become addicted to daytrading because a lot of people treat all varieties of trading as gambling.
55  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CS:GO and Betting on: March 17, 2020, 09:25:05 PM

Damn. It has been more than 5 years since I last played counter strike. Didn't valve but a ban on all kind of betting related to csgo? I remember receiving an email from one of the sites where they said that users items were stuck because valve but a mass ban on all of their betting trade bot account. Even I remember reading somewhere that cases were also being a problem since it was some sort of gambling.
Well, there is nothing much to do. They will have to face the disadvantage of playing bad online instead of LAN.

They did, and it seemed like Valve was enforcing the gambling ban pretty strictly right after they released their announcement and near when sites like OPSkins were shut down for gambling-related activities, but there's a ton of skin-related CS:GO gambling sites again as they're not enforcing the rule as much anymore, though most people using skins to gamble are still aware that the risk is there that their skins could be lost at any time.
56  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the position of the gambler in the market? on: March 12, 2020, 09:04:49 PM
The easiest way you can get started with online gambling is to use one of the more reputable casinos that are all around this section (and in members' signatures), and start with a small amount of money that you're okay with losing. Ideally you shouldn't ever be gambling money you can't afford to lose, but if you're gambling for the first time then it's a good idea to use even less to gauge your actual interest in it.

Always keep in mind gambling is simply a form of entertainment, and the odds are stacked against you naturally due to house edge (so you won't be winning in the long run). Someone's got to make money after all.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CALL OF DUTY Launches Game with Virtual Currency on: March 12, 2020, 09:01:19 PM
Yep, the article seems to be grabbing at extremely thin straws to me as most online games have at least some sort of digital in-game currency that is used, especially in mobile ones. Nothing new, and it just doesn't seem to even relate much to any sort of blockchain at all to me with what's been written in this article; it just seems to be a digital currency.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is the Corona drop over or will it continue? on: March 12, 2020, 08:54:19 PM
I personally don't think it's over just yet because many people have and are continuing to sell off their BTC out of pure fear, though I don't think there'll be another massive candle downwards again like what happened today. People are scared of investments all over the board and not just with crypto, and downwards pressure still remains relatively strong. The virus is still spreading over the globe, and I can only imagine it'll continue to spread in the short term.
59  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What would you do ? on: March 12, 2020, 08:48:37 PM
I'm not the most risk-taking person and I've had bad similar experiences in the past when I've tried to exploit issues that I find with games or systems, so I would most likely just report the problem to the casino and ask for a bug finder's bounty or a little payment in exchange. Most sites and especially major casinos should have no problem giving you a little compensation, especially for more major bugs.

There's always the potential for you to get caught trying to exploit a bug and you might just get banned and leave with nothing instead of something. Many online casinos review withdrawals and transactions as well, so it's very possible they could find some sort of discrepancies with your account and look further into them.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's halving effect over Bitcoin-based forks (BCH, BSV)? on: March 12, 2020, 08:36:58 PM
It all depends on profitability for miners as you said, and we can't accurately predict that until we get much closer to the halving event because it's already exceptionally hard to predict factors that go into calculating mining profitability such as difficulty and the price of the coin being mined. Unless there's some sort of additional incentives created for miners that makes it more profitable to mine on one chain compared to another, the majority of people will mine on the main chain which could be BTC, though I imagine there's also some sort of vested interest involved with BCH or BSV that might skew things.
