621  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Thoughts on this? on: September 05, 2019, 07:03:40 PM
It's almost certainly part of OKEx's wallet maintenance; all of the transfers were the same amount for BTC (3,000BTC per transaction), and an account I follow on Twitter that tracks large crypto transactions (Whale Alert) has stated that these transactions are part of wallet maintenance: https://twitter.com/whale_alert/status/1169189384052232192. OKEx's Twitter account even responded to this tweet.

Anyone trying to convince you that this is a result of a hack is FUDding.
622  Economy / Services / Re: Betting Arbitrage on: September 05, 2019, 07:00:59 PM
Some sites/sportsbooks will also limit your account or even ban your account if they detect you're trying to arbitrage games, which is something you should be aware of before trying this out (and a big reason why I don't arb/stopped arbing). I've never really tried arbing on crypto-based sites before so I don't know how they tolerate it, but on fiat sites you'll usually get shut down really fast.
623  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning] Fake Bitblender site on: September 05, 2019, 01:07:45 PM
There's actually a ton of scam clones of Tor based mixers out there, and it seems like in my experience people don't realize blenders such as Bitblender were only accessible through onion links when they were operating. I recall there used to be a .com clone of Bitblender a while back as well, though I don't know if it's still up.
624  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Looking for the best Online Casino? on: September 04, 2019, 10:20:22 PM
Just a look at peoples' signatures here (including mine) should lead you to big names in crypto casinos; depends what game you're looking for, but I've found PrimeDice to be a great dice platform, and Buff.bet to be a decent esports betting platform (I mostly use it for CS:GO betting) for example. If that's not enough, the links in the post from the member above me should also help. Make sure you look up the reputation of whatever casino you want to bet on before you deposit any money on it though. Most of the online casinos around here have solid reputations, but there are always exceptions and it helps to stay up-to-date on these things.
625  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto hodling as a form of gambling! on: September 04, 2019, 08:20:39 PM
Holding's obviously got some level of risk involved and even more so if you're holding altcoins as many of them fail and have failed in recent months. Alt ratios have continued to sink farther and farther in the last few months, but you're generally going to get better returns holding coins (especially Bitcoin) than trading (as most people just aren't successful trading at all). If you're using a good method of managing risk and you're not using money you can't afford to lose like with anything where money's at risk, holding's really not that bad at all.
626  Economy / Speculation / Re: We are about to hit 8K and below...soon (see charts) on: September 04, 2019, 08:15:04 PM
I've also been looking at this ascending triangle for quite some time as well and depending on how you're drawing the triangle, it definitely seems like we'll need a solid break of $11k or so to invalidate this pattern. Caught a nice dip this morning and I'm on a low leverage long for now, but I'll be looking to close and sit out before we hit the trendline as I'm uncertain we'll be able to breka through this time around. It'd definitely be bullish if we manage a solid break through, however.
627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reasons to chose nano ledger hardware wallet on: September 03, 2019, 11:25:58 PM
I've got both Ledger Nano S and Trezor wallets and they're both excellent hardware wallets. I did actually consider buying the Ledger Nano X a few weeks ago, but I figured my current Ledger units work just fine and I mostly just use the BTC app on them, so I really don't need the additional space the newer units offer. Both have good interfaces as well, being simple enough for beginers but with enough features for more experienced users as well. I got my first Nano S a couple years ago and it's still going strong.
628  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What do you need to become a successful trader? on: September 03, 2019, 10:56:59 PM
Patience is a big part of it. Don't force a trade to happen when you are unsure of what might unfold or if you're not confident in a trade, look for good setups and trades with good risk relative to reward. There's definitely no-trading zones out there, and recognizing when you shouldn't be trading can be the difference between your balance staying the same and losing a few hundred dollars. You also don't need to use extremely complex TA to trade; I often use simple support and resistance levels and it works out very well for me.
629  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is bitcoin bearish or bullish on: September 03, 2019, 08:58:57 PM
I would definitely agree we're bullish at the moment as well. I've been looking at RSI recently and it shows as overbought on most of the hour timeframes like 4H and 1H (but obviously RSI can remain overbought and oversold for long periods of time), but we're also looking at a green MACD flip at last on the daily at the moment, and the 21 MA's crossed over the 50MA and looking to cross over the 100 soon as well. Currently looking for a dip to buy at the moment as I feel there's going to be a minor correction soon, but I'm still bullish mid and long-term.
630  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: questions about technical analysis on: September 03, 2019, 08:45:28 PM
TA doesn't work all of the time, and it doesn't work out fully especially in crypto markets when fakeouts happen all the time if you're trading with support and resistance levels and flips. That doesn't mean using S/R flips is impossible or bad (I use it quite often), but you should be looking for good and higher-probability setups to execute for best success. You also need to have a good risk management strategy to remain profitable in trading- a lot of people don't have great success rates with their trades, but remain profitable due to executing trades with good risk/reward ratios and a good strategy to minimize losses.
631  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Need help figuring out fees of a dice/crash game. on: September 03, 2019, 08:29:34 PM
The amount of edge varies by whatever game or site you're trying to play, though generally speaking you're going to find that most sites set this edge at 1%. Unfortunately not all sites display their house edge in plain sight, but as an example, Primedice uses 1% edge and so does Bitsler, another popular dice site on this forum. The edge for crash games will likely also vary from site to site, though I suspect crash sites set their edge to 1% as most if not all crash sites use Bustabit's script.
632  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I earn $1 worth of bitcoin everyday? Please help! on: September 03, 2019, 08:23:15 PM
You could also try advertising a service that you're good at in the Services section. There's also people looking for work in that section of the forum, though those opportunities can be somewhat limited at times. I would also suggest trying to find some sort of source of income in real life and converting that money over to BTC through an exchange; you're generally going to be paid more doing that, even after any applicable conversion fees. Faucets never were a great way of getting BTC besides a bit of dust, and they're even worse now that faucets pay even less.
633  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: curious about bitcoin on: September 02, 2019, 11:46:05 PM
If you're looking for a place where you can do gigs and tasks for other people, the Services section (click for link) is perfect for that. You can make a thread advertising yourself in that section, or you could try looking for tasks there. It's true that you can make money mining, but many peoples' electrical costs make it nonviable to mine. There's a ton of ways to make money with BTC and to acquire BTC; you just have to figure them out and find a way that suits you the best.
634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: First GPU Mining Rig on: September 02, 2019, 10:57:02 PM
You can mine other algos using EthOS, but from looking at the knowledge base for the OS, only Zcash and Monero are officially supported, through claymore and xmr-stak respectively. As for whether or not it's the best mining OS, I would suggest you test out other ones like SMOS or HiveOS as you mentioned yourself and see which one you like the most. EthOS is generally easy to use and it's already installed on your rig, so it'll be simple to run.
635  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How crypto exchanges secure our funds? on: September 02, 2019, 06:00:02 PM
Most exchanges use a system of wallets, usually with cold storage that rarely moves around and is often multisignature for longer-term coin holding, and hot wallets that process large quantities of transactions often for withdrawals and deposits. You'll typically find that hot wallets have worse security measures than cold wallets for the reason that they need to be used often, but these wallets typically don't hold many coins compared to cold wallets so any breaches on these are typically minor.
636  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [LEARN] Phishing Quizzes - Beginners & Experts on: September 02, 2019, 05:56:57 PM
This thread's actually quite useful. I took the Google quiz and I got 6/8, mostly with the last few questions as the details that would suggest that one of those emails was actually a phishing email were very small, though with most of them you're able to tell whether or not an email is legit or phishing just by checking the email address from where it was sent from. Pretty good refresher for what I already know and a few newer methods phishers use nowadays.
637  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Profitably - while getting shit done. on: September 02, 2019, 05:06:30 PM
I haven't spent more than a few hours a day looking at my monitor(s) in quite a long time ever since I switched up my trading style more towards swing trading. I typically just set up semi-loose stops and take profits and let the trade run while I go do other things with my life. Most of not all of my trades start like this, and almost all of my most profitable trades start like this as well. Way more interesting than sitting at a desk and staring at numbers all day.
638  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your best profitable live casino game. on: September 02, 2019, 05:03:50 PM
I've never been a big fan of live games either, though I used to play roulette semi often. I don't recall ever getting any big wins on roulette, but that's also likely because I never put a lot of money on my spins. The only thing I'm profitable at (and have ever been profitable at) the moment is esports betting, though I sometimes get decent wins playing dice with high multipliers and smaller-sized bets.
639  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bakkt on: September 01, 2019, 02:22:18 PM
I really don't find the launch of Bakkt to be extremely bullish either; it's been known for quite some time, and whatever effect it might have on the price of BTC is potentially already priced in. Still buying through DCA and I've got orders stacked at 8k and below in case we ever get that low though. Any break from this sideways movement we've been having recently would be good Smiley.
640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is buying crypto with fiat a good idea? on: August 29, 2019, 09:14:09 PM
You're likely not going to get a good rate by buying crypto with a credit card on a site like Changelly; you're generally not going to get good rates by purchasing crypto with credit or debit cards as a whole, though buying like this is generally more convenient and faster than wiring funds over to an exchange. You'll likely pay less fees by buying crypto on an exchange like Coinbase Pro or Bitstamp if you have the time to go through the verification processes of exchanges like the ones I've listed.
