321  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever done to experiment to determine percentage of winning? on: November 28, 2019, 07:12:11 PM
I've actually done this for activities where there's some level of skill involved like sports or esports betting, but purely for my own interest and not primarily to find ways to improve my performance because the analysis that I do on matches varies from match to match and I've found there's not really any one thing that I can improve on. If you're talking about tricks to win in purely luck-based games, there really are none, and house edge will cause you to lose money in the longer run anyways.
322  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Top 5 ways to recover your stolen or lost crypto on: November 28, 2019, 07:08:15 PM
If you lose a somewhat trivial amount of cryptocurrency, just move on and take it as a lesson for whatever mistake(s) you happened to make leading up to the loss; it's extremely difficult to recover stolen coins if not impossible in most cases, and so it's not worth your time trying to do more IMO. That's just one of the minor downsides of using cryptocurrency; transactions cannot be reversed, though in some circumstances lost coins can be recovered. I like that eToro's making all sorts of guides for people that are newer to Bitcoin and crypto in general, but a much shorter answer that most people won't like is that if your coins are stolen or lost, it's most likely not recoverable.
323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why invest on a project because someone said they are good? on: November 28, 2019, 06:58:31 PM
I always do my own research on a project, though I might skim over other peoples' reviews of a project to get a quick overview of what it's really about and some of the basics, though I find that most reviews tend to be very shallow and don't do much besides state a few major points. Everyone's trying to shill their own thing, and it's been this way since forever, so make sure you're getting the real information and not what someone wants you to think. You have plenty of time to make a decision of whether or not to invest in a token or coin, so don't rush it.
324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cyber criminals are using Youtube to install-Crypto jacking software on: November 28, 2019, 02:57:11 AM
Not a big fan of the title since it seems to suggest that the virus spreads through YouTube as a potential vector while it only uses YouTube video descriptions to communicate with mining proxy servers to receive mining jobs, but it's pretty surprising nevertheless that the developers of this virus are choosing to use YouTube as a potential way of avoiding detection via using YouTube descriptions to hide the true IPs of the proxies. Seems like through the actual source site from which this article cites the YouTube videos that have been identified as providing the proxy IPs to the miners have been taken down, but it's both likely and possible that there's new videos up now that do the same thing that haven't been detected yet.

It's true that the virus utilizes YouTube for its crypto mining portion, but from another link from the original article (click for link) detailing the virus, it seems like it first arrives onto computers mostly through torrented downloads for pirated software.
325  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this a sign of the next Bitcoin bull run? Or just another bull trap? on: November 28, 2019, 12:24:21 AM
The continued lower lows that we've been achieving on higher timeframes like the daily and weekly definitely isn't a good sign for the bulls (as well as continued lower highs), and it's looking somewhat likely at this point that we're in a channel downwards as every pump seems to bleed off into a newer low. There's still strong support at $6500 holding this up stemming from the breakout earlier this year in May out of the $5k range, which I expect will hold, though.
326  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESPORTS - predictions and tips (Dota 2, CS:GO, LoL) on: November 28, 2019, 12:18:58 AM
MEGA Esports CEO banned from League competitions until 2022

Riot Games released a competitive ruling for the Thailand-based League of Legends team MEGA Esports earlier today. MEGA CEO Arnold Tandra has been banned from being involved in any Riot tournaments until 2022 for not paying the salaries of the team’s players.

https://dotesports.com/league-of-legends/news/mega-esports-ceo-banned-from-competitions-until-2022

Sucks for the players on the team that their spot in a tournament's now in question because of something like this because it's a major missed opportunity for the players when the fault is on the owner's side; I've read about things like this happening over the years for other games like CS:GO as well, and I've always supported something like a permanent ban to set an example for future CEOs that it's a serious problem to not pay your players. 2 years seems pretty light in my eyes, though I do hope for the team's sake something can be negotiated for their upcoming tournament.
327  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin go to $8000 soon look this fractal on: November 27, 2019, 07:33:19 PM
I'm not a big fan of fractals as a whole because market conditions tend to differ between when the first instance of the fractal plays out that you're comparing to the present, but I do like that the Twitter user who tweeted this pattern out (link to tweet) points out the differences in structure between these two events based on this current pattern being a bull market correction and the earlier instance being one in a bear market, though this one seems to have played out with an additional long wick downwards to form what seems like an iHS on timeframes like the 1H before heading back up. This seems to be losing a bit of steam and we could have a swing high on the hourly at the moment, but it seems like this fractal did play out.
328  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I am not lucky in trading - what am I doing wrong? on: November 27, 2019, 06:30:33 PM
Fakeouts sometimes through what seems like strong support are also somewhat common with Bitcoin, even when it seems like volume's accompanying a strong break through a level. Seems like what's happened recently in hindsight is that an inverse heads and shoulders pattern formed on the 4H which has resulted in a break back upwards to the upper $7500s where we are now, and the ~$6500 level was also historical support from a large wick back in May of this year, which was a pretty significant level of support as the next ones are in the 5000s.

Movements like these are also why you want to place your stops a bit away from obvious levels of support and resistance as the price tends to run through these areas to catch stops and goes right back down.
329  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are crypto casinos/dice houses not caring about multiple accounts. on: November 27, 2019, 06:18:31 PM
If you've ever got a question about multiple accounts or VPNs or anything of the type, just shoot an email at the support of whatever casino you're looking at. These rules typically aren't clearly listed anywhere on these websites unfortunately, but site support should have more knowledge of the precise terms and conditions that apply. I do know that FortuneJack isn't friendly towards those using VPNs at the very least, although it seems to be a common theme that most sites don't care whether or not you're accessing their site using a VPN.
330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your take? on: November 27, 2019, 06:15:35 PM
Bitcoin not doing so well in the past few months after peaking is a large part of why most alts have been slumping recently as Bitcoin still somewhat strongly influences the prices of altcoins. I've been accumulating quite a bit of BTC over the last year and so my average price of entry for coins I've accumulated recently is still below the current price of Bitcoin as it stands currently, though my alt investments haven't been doing nearly as well recently. It's still a good time to be accumulating nevertheless if you can afford it, because I doubt we'll continue heading down in the mid to long-term.
331  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A coin that solves a problem won't die on: November 27, 2019, 02:39:19 AM
Not necessarily, though there really isn't one perfect solution for anything in general. Some coins that have solved problems have died off through becoming obsolete over the years for various reasons, or the problems that those coins solved just didn't apply to many people in the first place or only applied to a small number of the population, and plenty more of the top coins and tokens according to Coinmarketcap don't have any real-world problem solving ability, either; Unus Sed Leo from Bitfinex serves mainly just as an investment, yet it's still rated as the #13 coin on CMC and #13 on Coingecko.
332  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: buying mining hardware from Sesterce.com on: November 27, 2019, 02:24:03 AM
I've also bought miners from sites like eBay where buyer protection's (extremely) strong and you're able to dispute transactions pretty easily and win most of the time without having to provide a ton of evidence in case things go wrong like when something's not as advertised. As long as you're checking your hardware as soon as you get it especially in the case of used miners from eBay, you shouldn't have any problems.

Another option you can try for used and new miners is to transact through the Computer Hardware section (click for direct link) and transact with escrow. I've been buying and selling things through these forums for years with few issues, and a reputable escrower should keep you safe.
333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Trading platforms can't be 100% fair on: November 27, 2019, 02:21:29 AM
Especially leveraged exchanges make quite a bit of money from market trade fees since you're charged for the full contract size of your trade, even though most leveraged crypto trading exchanges do offer a rebate on fees for market makers to provide liquidity, and leveraged exchanges like Bitmex, Deribit and Bybit also have a liquidation fund to protect themselves from losses in case of a massive wave of liquidations where the liquidation engine's not able to close your trade fast enough. The exchange typically wins no matter what you do from fees alone.
334  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Real reasons to Why do you gamble? on: November 27, 2019, 02:10:31 AM
Mostly for entertainment. I already donate money towards charities and participate at community events and do volunteer work regularly, and I find gambling to be a fun activity in moderation along with playing video games and other things that I do for a hobby too. I mostly play games like crash and I don't usually gamble a large sum of money, though I'd enjoy hitting a big win as much as anyone else.
335  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Psychological Mistake of the Beginners Traders on: November 26, 2019, 10:17:48 PM
An extension of trading based on your emotions is trying to chase losses which a lot of traders end up doing, even more experienced traders sometimes. It's sometimes hard to accept losses, especially if you've risked and lost more than you initially planned through something like a fault in calculations, but cutting losses is an extremely important part of trading and something you should learn quickly. Things could always be worse, but be glad they aren't.

Before you even enter a trade, determine where you're closing a trade and where your stop is located and only change things when market conditions significantly change or when your initial technical analysis is invalidated (you should close in this case). This should help with closing too early or too late; I highly suggest using stops if they're offered on the exchange of your choosing.
336  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Damaged salary on: November 26, 2019, 10:13:35 PM
If you know you're going to be upset about the amount of money you're risking and thus could potentially lose through gambling, just don't gamble in the first place or set a limit so that you're less unhappy in case of a loss. Always plan for the worst, especially if you're gambling. I typically always save a part of my paycheck and only gamble a small amount of it so the losses don't affect me much, and I suggest you also do something similar if possible. You're not going to get that money back, so learn from this lesson and move on.
337  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How long do you hold on a trade. on: November 26, 2019, 02:41:44 AM
Depends whether or not the market conditions change significantly from the time I enter a trade to when I'm about to close to the point that the newer conditions invalidate my original thinking, or even just if my stops get tripped and my trade closes by that. There's also been times earlier when I've closed out trades because I realized my initial entry just wasn't good at all or when I realize afterwards that I entered a trade solely or mainly based off of FOMO. I'm generally not a fan of holding trades for extended periods of time unless it's for a planned longer-term trade though, especially since I trade somewhat often on Bitmex and other leveraged trading sites and funding can take a bite out of your account over time unless you're using quarterly futures contracts in the case of Bitmex.
338  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How does provably fair environment ensure the survival of gambling houses. on: November 26, 2019, 01:42:43 AM
There's also other costs associated with running a casino like hosting the website and all of the features on the cloud and advertising through plain web ads on other crypto-related websites or even signature campaigns through Bitcointalk, and some smaller sites also just don't have large bankrolls which means a whale netting a few wins and leaving could leave the site with a temporary loss, though some sites especially like crash set max win limits to prevent events like this from happening. Statistically speaking, the house wins over time, but that doesn't mean losses can't occur in the short term.
339  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Will Not Be a Medium of Exchange on: November 26, 2019, 01:33:51 AM
While I like the concept of LN and its current technological implementation is decent, the majority of merchants accepting Bitcoin payments still do not accept LN payments from my experience (though there are a number that I use), and most transactions still take place on the mainnet for both purchases and regular transactions between wallets. Also seems like adoption of LN's mostly stagnated or is starting shrink by a bit too, from this chart that I've taken from txstats.com (click for link) that looks at both the sum of the value of all open channels and the sum of their values. The good news is that we're still way above where these values were a year ago, but it seems like things have slowed down somewhat.
340  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to bet in sports? on: November 26, 2019, 01:16:17 AM
One thing I like to do with all types of betting is to place low bets on games where odds are greatly skewed towards one side and I've determined through my methods of analysis that there's at least a somewhat significant chance of the underdog beating the overdog, and I typically place a low to medium bet on the underdog and watch the game. Parlay's indeed a great way to go if you're seeing a few games that aren't too special on their own in terms of odds, though I usually only parlay a few matches and not more than five or six. I mostly enjoy underdog betting because it spices things up while you're watching the match, yet there's also not a ton of money at stake so there's not a whole lot to worry about.
