Secure hashes cannot be cracked. You cannot login with the info being spread on Rapidshare. The trolls are back in town...
There is already a file going around with every email and plain text password. They have ALL already been cracked.

MyFarm: Yes the site won't be back online until we are certain there are no other exploits.
Cool, see you guys in a month or two. Though you might upset a few people who have thousands of dollars/BTC tied up in your system. I sure don't envy you at this point.

Considering there is a database dump with my mt gox information making its way around the internet, it's obvious your security has been compromised. I would assume that you're going to do a FULL security and code audit to make sure there aren't further exploits or backdoors placed on your system. As these audits take awhile, I also assume that you're not going to be back online anytime soon.
Or do I assume wrong?

In regards to the servers we're on it. It's one thing to grow quickly and another to have the entire Bitcoin world try to log in at once.
That's EXACTLY what you need to be prepared for though. If you can't handle the load during extremely pressing times, then you're little better than Mt. Gox. If you're going to be THE defacto exchange (and you now have a hell of an opportunity and I wish you luck) then you need to change your way of thinking.

"We do a pretty good job, most of the time." Sounds like the perfect advertisement for any financial institution. I'll take my money elsewhere, thanks. You DO realize this wasn't their first hacking? Rapidshare currently has a dump of pretty much every single Mt Gox account:

This selloff is due to Mt Gox's terrible setup. I would have bought 800 coins over the last few minutes if I could have gotten an order in.

high transaction costs and limits to liquidity I think -- once it becomes easier to buy and sell these will largely disappear
For a spread like this, transaction costs are a drop in the bucket. And lack of liquidity is what CREATES this opportunity.

Well... why don't you? No BTC to sell there, just cash waiting to buy. Otherwise I would.

Why isn't anyone taking advantage of the tradehill arbitrage opportunity? Right now someone is bidding 16.0 on Tradehill. Sell there, buy back on Mt Gox for less than 15 and boom, you're in quick and easy money.
I'm surprised nobody has been taking advantage of this sort of stuff.

Here's another idea to make a shitload of money, get the general public interested in Bitcoin, AND make money for charities or specific groups. Group branded mining GUIs and mining pools. Everyone wants to help their favorite cause, right? Well, for example, create an environmental branded mining GUI and disseminate it on Facebook to all the hippies and environmentalists. Have it connect to a specific private pool where ~50% of the bitcoin is donated to some cause that hippies and environmentalists would get behind. Have them mine for free for you, generate you bitcoin, and you donate ~50% of it to their specific cause. This could work for ANY type of group. And what politician is going to try and shutdown Bitcoin if there's 500 groups out there benefiting from it? I don't have the coding skills to do this nor the ambition to hire someone, so I thought I'd release it for free. If you make some money off of it, just kick some BTC my way: 1Gfhz9ZiP9M6ndC6G5juzRdGf34yYmshQn

I've never used it for an illegal purpose but I'm trying my best to use it for a POSITIVE purpose.

Do you have a favorite charity or lobby group? NORML.org? American Red Cross? Goodwill? EFF? It doesn't matter who they are, get them involved in Bitcoin! In my opinion, the best way to do this is help them create their own mining pool (or create one yourself dedicated to a specific charity like I have). Then they can set fees for that mining pool that go DIRECTLY to the charity. How cool would it be to be able to select from 50+ different mining pool charities? The benefits of this:
1. The charities make money. 2. Charities get involved in BTC. Governments are MUCH less likely to hassle us if tons of charities are benefiting. Who had the political will to do THAT? 3. More pools = stronger network security 4. You get to support your favorite charity. 5. Gives Bitcoin a MUCH better name.
Let's make a positive difference with Bitcoin!

To be honest, I'm not sure how this works, but I'd be more than willing to incorporate it. I've already added a threshold, so that part is done. If I could make that work with generated block that'd be great.
You're amazing The person who suggested it said to PM him if you had any questions. He's happy to help or point you in the right direction.

The best solution is to lead by example. "Be the change you want to see in the world."

Very nice rework of the framework! Where's the clap emoticon when I need it?
Thank you very much. And thank YOU for making all this possible!

The best way to fight this is to prove Bitcoin can be used for GOOD as well.

If our governments continue to erode the value of mainstream currencies, absolutely. Otherwise, I'm not sure, but hopefully BTC becomes widely adopted so we don't have to find out.
