Well done, I hope you keep mining with us.  It's a great coin.

Guys, is it possible to say "this is my masternode's ip"? because I want to use no-ip.org which gives you a static ip. But it is actually just a redirect type thing. (i don't know what it's called)

So yeah, can I run a masternode from my (dynamic ip) house like this?
I've never seen that idea put forth.  I'd suggest asking in the DRK thread.

Thanks much appreciated.

My interpretation of what Mr. Spread said was that there would be a minimum price they started at.  Now, maybe that will be 1 SPR, maybe 100 SPR, I don't know.  But that's how I interpreted it.  Could be wrong though.
545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 17, 2015, 01:12:39 AM
Rather than me setting bounties, what sort of tools or apps would you enjoy making for Spreadcoin that you feel would be beneficial?  And how much SPR would each cost?

Thanks.
Android wallet?  Roll Eyes

But porting the two project (1, 2) need lots of work...

How many SPR for that?

Got a feeling that the proceeds on that 14k DRK sell on Cryptsy will be finding it's way into SPR. Grin
.....

(maybe?)

Speaking of this, you want a perfect example of why pool miners are bad? That's why (https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/cryptsy/drkbtc).14k seller of DRK emerges at the best ask and really gets no major buyers for 15 minutes or so and so proceeds to wipe out the buy-side book. I've been watching DRK trade for nearly a year and this same pattern of selling has been happening over and over for the past 6 months. Whomever does this selling just waltz's right up to the market with a massive order, waits about 15 minutes to see if anyone will take it and then gets impatient and just demolishes the buy-side. If this seller had patience and dropped 1000 at a time over a couple days they'd get a better overall price guaranteed. Instead they wallop the charts, the markets and shoot themselves in the wallet by flash crashing price. Totally illogical and stupid.
Now I'm speculating here that it's a pool miner, but this same type of one-time mass-seller keeps emerging every couple weeks with a new, huge batch of DRK and just gut-punches the market over and over and there is rarely this same type of buying behavior in between these mass sells which makes me believe they're mining it. And the fact that they could give 2-shits about price leads me to believe they're basically just using DRK as a BTC-generator.
Sick.
I think it's Internet Ape.

Mr. Spread, if possible, could you please release the minimum SPR requirement for masternodes before testing begins?  I say this because I would like to recruit some people experienced in masternode testing and if I have that number, it'll be much easier for me to do so.

Thank you.

I would think testing would be on testnet, with tSPR. Mr Spread should mine a few hundred thousand so we can grab what we need from a faucet and get on with it. Testnet needs miners too, but a few people running the in-wallet CPU miner should do.
Agreed.  My plan is to approach a couple people I respect as masternode testers and offer them a couple masternodes worth of mainnet SPR if they help us with the testing on testnet.  I'd just need to know the number of SPR needed for masternodes to do that.

is this coin worth it?
When I first made the offer, the coin was in the low 40k satoshi range.  Now check it out.  And look at the bid/versus ask: https://bittrex.com/Market/?MarketName=BTC-SPR

The dev is improving upon Darkcoin's masternodes.  When that goes live, the rise could be meteoric.
550  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 16, 2015, 12:16:06 AM
We now have more than 25,000 SPR being bid at 50k sats and above.  It's quite fascinating to watch this action (or lack thereof really).  I'm not sure that I've ever seen something similar in a coin.  Very few sellers, no multipools to constantly dump into buyers, and buyers not wanting to hit the ask because to get any size, they'd have to increase the price 10k sats.

Fascinating.
551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 16, 2015, 12:08:13 AM
Spreadcoin's masternodes will be based upon Darkcoin's masternodes but Mr. Spread is working to improve upon them.  If he is successful, I personally think the fundamentals of the coin will support a high $x,xxx, xxx to low $xx,xxx, xxx price.

Here is some masternode info for Darkcoin though it is a little outdated: http://wiki.darkcoin.eu/wiki/FAQ#What_are_Master_Nodes.3F

Been keeping with SPR on her for a few weeks now. Thinking I should get in but everyone always is saying how most or all altcoins are scams, but this seems really good. n00b question but is 53 thousand sat a good time to enter or do you guys think it may go back down and I could get in cheaper. Looks strong to me but I dont know very much yet
Nobody is selling and there are over 19,000 SPR being bid above 50k sats.  I strongly suspect we'll be going higher before too long.  And once decentralized masternodes are working, the price rise will be meteroric in my opinion.

I've been pondering how competitive masternodes would affect SPR in a market like we're seeing.  How would I react if I had 10 SPR masternodes and the price of BTC was tanking.  Would I use it as a means to get out of BTC and strengthen my masternodes by adding SPR to them?

I'm not sure.  Has anyone else been pondering this?

just read first 3 pages of discussion. holy Putin... no one believed in this coin, just like BTC.
Find time to read the entire thread.  You'll come to love Mr. Spread and this coin.
What if SpreadCoin became the next BTC?? Holy CRAP that would be pretty sweet and I would retire if that happened Wink lol

Bitcoin is toast. It was a great proof of concept for blockchain technology but it's been superseded technologically, and centralised mining and the great ASIC arms race have made it basically worthless.

It's definitely not toast.  It MAY get uglier as more big mining groups are forced to liquidate, but it will find an equilibrium.  Especially since it is the means of exchange for altcoins.  If I think Darkcoin is a deal at $1.00, for any sort of liquidity and fair pricing, I have to buy BTC to get Dark at $1.00.

Until exchanges move to a different means of exchange or the USD markets become much more liquid, Bitcoin will maintain viability and find equilibrium.  At some point all of this may change, but not yet.  As I mentioned previously, I suspect that Ripple will be the next billion dollar coin.  I'm not a fan but have invested in it simply for monetary gain.  I like SPR a hell of a lot more than Ripple though.

I've been trading alt coins for over a year and every time I've seen this phrase on these crypto boards referring to that crypto as the next BTC it has signified a top in that crypto.
Hmmmmmm... We'll see...
JL
The difference here is Noob used, "What if".  There's nothing wrong with a little dreaming.  My observation is the, "[X Coin] is the next BTC" conversations begin when there is euphoria over the price rise of the coin or shitcoin investors getting desperate and yes, that is often a top.

With SPR, the price is backed by the current fundamentals.  If Mr. Spread is able to implement the decentralized masternodes, then the fundamentals will support a significant price increase.

I don't mine.  I just started buying early and didn't stop until recently.
