One should start FairCoin FC to overtake FeatherCoin FC.

how do I mine or generate new PPCoin?
Is this a joke ? For the 3rd time , The same way you do with bitcoin, By solo-mining or pool mining.

The pool https://coinotron.com support PPC
365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FeatherCoin launch fair or "Pre-mined" ? discussion, no tech support request. on: April 17, 2013, 07:35:00 PM
Let's say many people visit the forum once a week, and it take at minimum 20 min to start mining this new coin.

I would not have considered this completely unfair if there had been less than a 20 minute delay between launch and announcement.

But I would still have found it unfair for anything less than a week of notice.

My conclusion : unethical / unfair. and BTW I think you'd have made much more money from your pump and dump if there had been, lets say, a 1 day notice.

Just a quick point to note. The sentence you said was removed is still there and was never edited away.
Oh sorry, fixed.

... The joys of a Litecoin fork, are that we get to use Scrypt and follow a release designed for specifically for it.  There are a lot of Bitcoin forks but with the advent of ASIC miners we are starting to see how much havoc they can cause. To give us GPU miners shelter we need Scrypt based coins, as, in my opinion, Litecoin is currently the only valid one. Litecoin being as mature as it is makes it hard to join in the fun so let’s start with a new coin that follows Litecoin’s tradition.

FeatherCoin has a block reward of 200 and will have a total of 336 million coins. This makes it four times that of LiteCoin, this is the same position that LiteCoin was set against BitCoin. There is no private preming of this coin.

This coin is in beta like all cryptocoins.

Do you consider gearing up for launch and announcing the coin as the same time as it start pre-mining ?

Discuss...
368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: FeatherCoin - New Litecoin based coin on: April 17, 2013, 06:59:40 PM
How can you claim there was no pre-mine when you haven't announced your coin before starting it ?

And no, announcing it 5 min before launch does not count.

Why not?
I was in the forum at the right time.
when i started there was like 300 blocks.

Nobody told me... i was paying attention.

I think his point is that it's not fair to those of us who aren't available to stalk the forums all day long. A true "no pre-mine" is when a coin is announced days, weeks or months in advance (not minutes in advance) so everyone has a TRUE equal opportunity at being an "early adopter".

I'm not complaining since I could care less about his "nothing new / me too coin" ... but, You must usually allow a week or more to allow people to review the code or understand the concept.

In this case it was needed to start it fast because there was really nothing worthy to spend time understanding.

Here is an example of a coin that was released with no pre-mine.

That's 9 days of notice to the public before release, with precise release schedule, and announced right here on the most populated cryptocurrency forum

374  Economy / Speculation / Estimate of how many bitcoins have felt into the wrong hands ? (pirate40 & al ?) on: April 16, 2013, 06:42:41 AM
It would seems a small part of pirate40's bitcoins could have been enough to cause the massive dump we've seen the last few days.

Pirate40 500k ?
MyBitcoin ?
Bitcoinica ?
else ?

Thank for clearing this up with this much patience.

I guess some people would like an ELI5 explanation of the distribution algorithm.

It's certainly not as easy to understand than bitcoin's halvings.

January 2013
Hello everyone. It's been about a month since our last update and it's high time we had another, since we have lots of information to share this time around....This means our delivery date is expected the week of the 10th of February...

In the meanwhile I've made some forum diving and subscribed to get notice of new post in the /Announcements/ section.

Here's what I've got so far:

15 March BFL News

Apparently BFL has now attained the vaunted status of being large enough to attract a DDoS. This morning, starting about 1AM CST, the BFL sites started getting over 1 Gbs of traffic, effectively knocking everything offline....

Oh and they're also making contest for the best BFL drawings.

I've heard rumors they would give a discount for early investors but I can't confirm that.

This isn't what I'd call professional communications.

To be honest I did search the forum and 90% of what I saw looked like this : A troll or a customers with a Jalapeno or less whining, people telling him to STFU or get a refund ... and Josh coming from time to time to insult someone at random shedding doubt on their capabilities.
