61  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Large Bulk Buy of Second Handed ANTMINER S3+, $115/unit, free ocean shipping on: December 31, 2014, 06:48:04 AM
Well, seems BMT changed things but are still giving us a bit of a big FU !

https://bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020141015100808946Nj1LM03y0650

$149 MOQ 2 = $300, Gee BMT thx for pulling out the broom handle a bit but it's still stuck up my ass pretty good.

read this and sneezed out my cup of tea! Cheesy BRILLIANT !!! Cheesy

Bitmain - where to begin.......... you suck!
Seems you only get $115 per unit if you got $5k to blow.

I just think it's funny BMT's way of saying ty to the little guys that keep them running is offering the MOQ of two units @ $149 per.

An MOQ of two @ $115 per would be nice but still sort of screws the little guy who's got just enough BTC saved for one unit.

5k$ ? That's closer to 58k$

Seems like most CoolIt pumps are dying prematurely, Has anyone tried cheaper 1150 CPU heatsink ?

These water cooling systems sell for $60+ , phase change heat pipes cooler sell for ~20$ - 30$ but I wonder if they can dissipate 500w even with a high speed fan attached.
I've had many of the water coolers die on these units. I would guess it has a lot to do with the cold plate being in the same small housing as the impeller and motor. Running at a couple hundred watts on a CPU and getting to 60C on the die is one thing; dissipating 600W and directly contacting a die at 100C+ is another thing entirely.

You can use an air cooler, though you might have to downclock or downvolt. You will reach the limit of the ability of the heat pipes to transfer heat, so at a certain point more airflow won't lower temperatures.

Have you, yourself, tried cooling a HF board with heat pipes ?

Sad, The result of a shitty UI or high systemic risk... ?

Average 0.5 BTC traded per hours, No trade for 4 hours...

The market moved up and down 3% in the meanwhile.

How does that work ?
67  Other / Off-topic / Re: [POLL] How old are people in the altcoin forums? on: November 12, 2014, 08:39:35 PM
You should have put a inv-logarithmic age range.

Wisdom happen more between 18 and 19 than between 12 and 17 a range where I thing a lot of Altcoiners are located.

I'd like to know how loud it is.

Could someone post a video of a Prisma running ?

Agreed with the other post..sounds like a hair dryer. That fan is amazingly strong, and moves some serious air. You would want to run this somewhere isolated not in your house.
So it's meant to be run in datacenter, So much for incentivizing  decentralisation. Sad

I like that I can heat my place and live nicely next to 6 antminer S3.

Nefario,  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=115669.0

If you want to kick-start something like that you need to do more than just naming names.

Fuck, you're missing about 80% of suspected nefarious people and about half of your list is aiming at the wrong people.

Not everyone at Hashfast were scammers but damn ! start there before listing Patrick Murck as nefarious.

  had a windfall-tolerant 'Full-refund-of-all-BTC-no-matter-what' agreement with HF.

Where do you get that from?

I can't believe how long this has gone on without action for the investors...arggghhh!!!

Nothing can happen until the HF bankruptcy is resolved.  There will be action on that front Soon(tm).

Setting your hair on fire and jumping up and down over some dust is silly.  But if screaming makes you feel better, *here* have a pillow!
AFAIK they don't have a claim in HF bankruptcy, they didn't take MPP insurance. (for whatever it could have been worth).

Icedrill the was the first to receive hardware and I think the only one who got their order fulfilled.
73  Economy / Speculation / Re: why the bitcoin price is going down ? on: October 04, 2014, 09:27:51 PM
The market is getting rid of miners with datacenters commitments and manufacturer with soso efficient technologies.
74  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Home mining is dead. on: October 03, 2014, 10:51:27 PM
What is currently killing home miners is the high cost of shipping and customs fee compared to the hardware itself.
Also the fact that 90% of hardware designs use noisy 12 000 RPM fans into units that look like crap. (external power supplies)

Used to be a fan of the S3 for home mining until they priced themselves out of the market.

only one coupon can be used per S4.

This is scam-ish at best.

77  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: September 20, 2014, 11:08:50 PM
Out of 9 unit I have about 3 that have fan problems,

One was at 100% on arrival.

One became intermittent 100%.

And now one became permanently at 100% . I heard it ramp up to 100% and now no amount of power cycling will fix the problem.

What's up with that ?

With about 10 manufacturer of ATM and some opensources project I think it's time we get a sub for it.

I propose myself to move as many ATM discussions into the new category.

I asked LB to carve out the IP and the claims.
...
The fact of the matter is that there are two components to the value of the chips, the mining difficulty, and the Bitcoin exchange rate.  There is no guarantee that they will be worth less in the future than they are now and accepting a deal with dubious terms that essentially caps the chips' value at the current level while continuing to expose the creditors to 100% of the current down side exchange rate risk is plainly stupid.
Are you for real ? Difficulty will continue to increase greatly I can guarantee you that. Your personal speculation on the price of bitcoin after the deal is done has no bearing on the value of the chips right now.
