801  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Medical student wins lottery 5 times after embezzling graduation funds on: January 28, 2023, 12:22:53 PM
More importantly, why trust graduation funds to a student? This is the first time I saw a student able to access a graduation fund. Regardless of the student's status or let's say she is a top notcher, any related to graduations shouldn't be handled by a student.
Because students contribute to this fund periodically, probably every month. They compose a comission with few members chosen by themselves to manage the fund. It's their responsability to keep their own money safe for the graduation's expenses. I believe other people wouldn't want to be responsible for keeping it.

I'm aware of that system inside a school but here in the story, I will assume that these students are already at the highest level where contribution to fund graduation is not a usual practice anymore, at least compared to what's the usual practice here in our country. That's why I said that's the first time I hear of a student able to access graduation funds specifically at that level.

Well then, what happened already happened and consequences will surely be imposed or already happened now even though no follow-up news was posted. We don't have any idea what happened next in that story.
802  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Nonito Donaire vs Jason Moloney on: January 27, 2023, 11:56:53 PM
Even if he wins this bout, I think his camp would probably urge him to retire, or accept one last rematch against Moloney and then call it quits. Tbh Donaire is not getting any younger, and his reflexes are certainly slowing down which may even be dangerous for his health as one fatal blow could potentially mess up his life. Best to hang the gloves after this fight no matter the outcome if he wants to enjoy what he's built over the years in his boxing career.

His camp has no power to influence his decision because, after all, it's his wife who is acting as his handler. Smiley

They will just continue to fight if there's an opportunity. Since this is a big opportunity, they grab it right away.

Only if Donaire will lose they will consider hanging his gloves.
803  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 27, 2023, 11:54:47 PM
There's always been talks and intrigue about these 2 teams since the Mavs made an upset and knocked the Suns out in the playoffs in 2021. It seems like some Phoenix fans and maybe even Booker himself hasn't moved on yet.

That's why when these two teams meet again early in the season and the Suns won it after a big comeback, the celebration is like they truly got revenge on the Mavericks lol. They should really be bitter in their last year's playoffs exit as just imagined having the best record in the NBA and up by 2 wins in the playoffs against the Mavericks but still choking and losing it. And the worst, they allow the Mavericks to give them as much as 46 points behind, a literal choke.

I hope though that they will meet again in this year's playoffs to continue their rivalry, with no injuries and in a healthy lineup.
804  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue - WBC and WBO 122 lbs bout - May on: January 27, 2023, 11:46:41 PM
Probably there is really huge money in having this fight in Japan, I mean just look at Floyd though, he loves fighting in Japan every December and it's because the Japanese are willing to pay big bucks. So what more if it is their local hero, Naoya Inoue fighting there, so this is going to be huge and it's going to be held again at their famous Saitama Super Arena.

Not probably but there's really huge money in Japan in terms of boxing.

Others say that Inoue is afraid to fight outside Japan and he should fight out of his comfort zone to truly achieve being a so-called monster but these people didn't realize that it's not the main case here but it's really a box office as always when Inoue is fighting at his home country and promoters will surely be happy with the expected revenue they can get. Just imagined how much money will be earned here in this fight.

Boxing currently is not just about legacy but also a business. While Inoue is making his legacy, his promoter will surely take advantage of it. The same goes on the side of Stephen Fulton.
805  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 27, 2023, 11:39:47 PM
That super champion is the shortcut for Inoue to move up and be the top contender on the next weight division.  We may call it perk or advantage but still, it is a shortcut because he is cutting lines of the top contender on that division to fight for the title bout.

I don't think we can consider it a shortcut. Cutting lines on other contenders? Honestly, Inoue is already overqualified that's why it just makes sense for him to be up against a champion already at the Super Bantamweight. Again, 118 to 122 doesn't really have that difference that's why it should be obvious that Inoue, after moving up to 122 as a unified bantamweight champion with no loss record, can consider a top contender already at that weight.

Honestly, just be grateful since Bob Arum agrees to negotiate this fight as early as Inoue moved up since as we know, Arum's Top Rank doesn't really do business with PBC. They gave the fans the most requested fight once Inoue moved up and we will now witness it in a few months.
806  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Medical student wins lottery 5 times after embezzling graduation funds on: January 27, 2023, 11:26:49 PM
They failed to teach the student about honesty and also failed to trace that she is addicted to gambling if they discovered it earlier they will not entrust the funds to her care, and she ruin her career not only she will not going to finish her study but the school will likely ban her and worse she will go to prison for money laundering and embezzlement, this is what will happen if you are deep into an addiction to gambling, you will have no respect on people's trust and money.

We are talking about a person here which already at the point where there's no need for any teaching about anything related to honesty. It's not appropriate to blame the school for failing to teach the student about honesty. There is also no way for them to know that the said student is addicted to gambling.

More importantly, why trust graduation funds to a student? This is the first time I saw a student able to access a graduation fund. Regardless of the student's status or let's say she is a top notcher, any related to graduations shouldn't be handled by a student.

Fast forward, I hope though that the student truly learned her lesson. That experience will be lived on her mind for several years.
807  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: January 25, 2023, 11:59:30 PM
As for NorthPort, Bollick didn't play.....

Aside from injury, there's an ongoing concern between Northport and Bolick.

The future of Robert Bolick playing in the NorthPort is still in question. His contract on the team is about to end in a few days and yet, no progress or development have seen so far. No official announcement related to that and all we know is rumor and speculation.

The latest on that is, Bolick's camp is prioritizing a possible new contract extension with the Nortporth although they have PLAN B if the negotiations fail.

With that statement, it's just creating speculation that the rumor during the last conference, Bolick might end up in SMC teams.
808  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Nonito Donaire vs Jason Moloney on: January 25, 2023, 11:57:21 PM
I hope Donaire will finally consider retirement if he wins the fight and the title, that's the best time to retire.

I really doubt it. For let's say Nonito Donaire will win against Moloney, who is currently ranked #1 by the WBC, he will think that all boxers below him are easy to beat. He might push for another title shot on other boxing bodies and will try to claim it all.

If continue to win his next fights in the future, I'm seeing Donaire will retire at the age of 42-43.

On the other hand, if he will lose to Moloney, seeing him retiring and hanging his gloves after that fight.
809  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Common Online Gambling Fraud on: January 25, 2023, 11:53:38 PM
There's also the match fixing.

And the fraud goes with those people claiming that they know a match that's about to be fixed and from there, they're asking people to deposit and bet also with them.

Actually, if gambling in a respective and established sports book, expect that it's a rare case where you can bet on a fixed match. Although it's happening, it's not that big leagues or players will be involved in that. These people won't exchange their reputation for a small amount they can get by joining the fixed match.

Instead of the actual fixed match, what others do prioritize is, always staying at those random users who will offer you such things.

There's no such thing as these people who are involved in the fixed matches for real will contact random users to offer their sh*t service.
810  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UK fines online casino for only asking KYC from winning gamblers on: January 25, 2023, 11:48:50 PM
But the big question is can they fully implement it can they apply it to all casinos although the idea is good, implementation is another thing unless the license issuer stated it that way.

If referring to fiat casinos, yes that can be fully implemented since these casinos are under the country's main gambling authority.

If referring to crypto casinos, that might only be fully implemented in those big casinos that have no choice but to accept the regulation. There are also decentralized gambling sites that obviously, won't be part of that.

More importantly, regardless if there's KYC or not, don't test the waters on unknown gambling sites. Better to comply with KYC than face the risks at those.
811  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: QUESTION: For Gambling Enthusiasts ❗❗ on: January 24, 2023, 11:59:42 PM
When we play against player, surely there arise a question. Whether it is a real player or not? Maybe the confused mind itself keep your game down. Better is to enjoy the casino games that gives excitement as well as disappointment. My choice is Casino A and I'm surprised to see the voting is high for the Casino B.

This is always my concerned. PvP games are more prone to cheating and there's no way we can determine if we are up against a real human.

Like in chess games, there are lots of bots designed here and for average users, no way they can win against a bot.

Maybe the reputation of the platform will be the only basis if we are playing with fair competition in a certain PvP match.

I agree, with online PVP gambling especially when the competition is just between players, there is a possibility of third-party exploits such as Bot and other cheating software.  So the integrity of PVP is always been in question.

And there is no permanent fix for this concern since once the cheat is patched (fixed) another version of the cheat will appear.  Instead of players get involved in PVP gambling, the PVP will then turn between the gambling owner and the cheat developer.

Even chat software won't do and is not an effective way to know if we are up against humans.

When a real player tries to talk with their opponent to check if that's a real player, expect that not all the time, these players will reply. Yes, there's no permanent fix on this and the site will have a hard time proving to its users that the game is fair and square.

As I mentioned, the only thing that user can be rely on here to check the fairness is, the site reputation.
812  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cheat the Lottery Winner on: January 24, 2023, 11:58:33 PM

Feel bad for people here that this story leads to them not trusting their own family haha.

I'm glad that I am surrounded by trusted people. Not bragging but I already entrust worth million pesos to my own family when I started to construct and build our own house. That was even in the year when people need money, yes it's 2020 when the pandemic hits the world, and so is our country. But no one in my circle of the family did some sh*t to me even though I'm not focusing on monitoring it but just taking care of the financial part. I know the amount I mentioned is not that much compared to the winnings in this topic but sorry, I do trust my family even if I won a jackpot lottery and ask them to claim it on my behalf.

But seriously, I won't bother to think of that first. I'd rather hope that someday I will win big in a jackpot lottery before thinking that situation where not to trust close relatives in money. That was easy to solve lol.
813  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UK fines online casino for only asking KYC from winning gamblers on: January 24, 2023, 11:51:59 PM
I'm all about freedom and less government ( the side of me that sides Republican here in America) but I'm not sure it makes any sense to have KYC only if you win.  If they are going to require KYC, then to me it only makes sense to make it a requirement from the start so you know that you are going run in to at some point.  By not requiring KYC up front, I feel like it's a bit misleading, and therefore doesn't really make sense.

But for sure, crypto-gamblers don't want that idea. There are lots of lurkers who maybe just want to test the site and if KYC will be a thing from the start, it will discourage them to try that site. For me, the current and most setup by crypto-casinos today where KYC would just be asking for big winnings should be the best option instead of asking it from the start.

Although, it doesn't really make sense to ask KYC for big winnings as "why it should be" if in the end, that winning is a legit one and no associated cheats or whatever, we just have to follow that terms or find another site that will suit our own criteria.
814  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Nonito Donaire vs Jason Moloney on: January 24, 2023, 11:47:33 PM

Good thing though that Naoya Inoue moved up (which is an expected plan) as that was the pre-requisite for Nonito Donaire having a chance to taste again being a title holder at the bantamweight. Since Donaire is still at the top of the WBC Bantamweight ranking, he got his chance again for a mandatory title fight and now it was materialized, and he will face the Rank 1 Jason Moloney for the vacant title.

As I said in the other thread, we don't see if Donaire is at his limit yet since the last time he loses is against a real monster. Again, I want to see him facing a boxer aside from Inoue in the 118 lbs to see if he can still match with the boxers at that weight.
815  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Errol Spence vs Keith Thurman on: January 23, 2023, 11:51:47 PM
I think there's no title that will be defended by Spence on their upcoming fight, right? Please feel freely to correct me if ever I'm wrong because to be honest, I'm really confused by their mandatory fight as their fight has been mandated to be fought at 154 lbs. where Spence has no belts. In addition, I'm under the impression that Thurman have no choice to agree because his time will be wasted if he won't be having any fight this time as his original mission is to chase some belts.

Since the fight is agreed on the higher weight Division, and not on the title's division, so yes there is no title defense which in contrast to the order released of the governing body of title defense.  I am still in confusion why does the fight like this happen in the higher division and why does the  boxing council accept this kind of arrangement when they are the one that ordered for that fight to happen.  Is boxing turning into a circus now? Where there is no rulings anymore and the boxer is freely able to decide the category to fight?

Since many are confused too about how this fight turned out, no choice but to wait for the result.

I'm thinking what will be the situation here if Thurman will upset Spence at 154 lbs.

I don't want the fight to happen but now, I want to see right away the possible aftermath of this fight regardless of who's the winner.
816  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue - WBC and WBO 122 lbs bout - May on: January 23, 2023, 11:48:56 PM
What do you think? is that 1.40 is still attractive to take or we will just bet on Inoue winning KO, probably that would give a better odds.

Since creating a big noise in his name in the world of boxing and later on called "The Monster", I don't remember Naoya Inoue being given a @1.4 odds by the bookies. He's always the Favorite but this time, that might be the highest odds I saw for him by the bookies.

To maximize the advantages of betting on Inoue though, better wait for other betting options.

As of now, the fight is still in the progress of finalizing everything but it's almost close to being done deal.

Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, against Butler he was like 1.02-1.04 ML favorite. So maybe this is just giving respect to Fulton as he is the champion and then Inoue climbing to 122 lbs and we really don't know what he can bring into the table.

Nevertheless for us, it's not good to bet on the ML, I would rather wait for more betting options first, like the Over and Under rounds.

Or maybe the knockout odds as well, but perhaps this is what everyone is anticipating so it will not be attractive.

The odds have nothing to do with the respect thing or something along those lines.

Bookies have their own factors on giving the odds and maybe, all factors that they refer really favors Inoue even if he's the challenger here.

Going back to the odds, if @1.4 will really be given to Inoue once the odds are out officially, including the crypto sportsbook, that was worth placing a bet. As I said, I can't remember the Monster being given with such good odds to consider.
817  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Common Online Gambling Fraud on: January 23, 2023, 11:45:31 PM
Cybercriminals can use a stolen credit card to top up an online casino account. From there, they can withdraw in cryptocurrency.[/li][/list]

Out of curiosity, what crypto-gambling sites can be topped-up using a credit card?

And as far as I know, gambling sites with credit card options as a deposit method are all subject to KYC and it should match the cardholder's name. It's not your typical card number + the 4-digit number on the back of the card.

Just want to know what crypto-gambling are these as I don't have any idea.
818  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cheat the Lottery Winner on: January 23, 2023, 11:42:21 PM
The valuable lesson that can be learned from the story above is that if you want to remain anonymous for your lottery winnings, do it yourself, and don't entrust money-related matters to other people (even if that person is someone close to you)

It will be subjective. I'm sure in my case, I have a close one who I can rely on that matter even how big the amount is.

It's just that unfortunately in that story, the winner becomes a victim and that was not expected.

More importantly, the person involved got arrested and will now face the wrath of the law. As for the victim, at least that experience shows the bad side and true color of one of their relatives. Time will tell if a peace offering will take place between these two.
819  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UK fines online casino for only asking KYC from winning gamblers on: January 23, 2023, 11:32:29 PM
If those new regulations are passed they will affect not only fiat casinos but cryptocurrency casinos will have to eventually follow them as well, do you agree with this idea? Would you like to see casinos to be fined more often for the practice of only asking for personal information from winning gamblers or do you think this will have a harmful effect on their finances?

From the very first place, fiat casinos really mandate KYC even not for big winnings. Therefore rules and terms referring to verification should already be expected by all users. Referring to crypto-casinos on the other hand, KYC might be a mandatory requirement in the future due to regulations.

But for now, we shouldn't really bother with KYC-related stuff on crypto-casinos as most of them don't require KYC and users can still be free to play anonymously. However though on big winnings, always be ready that some sites must really ask for KYC and we have no choice but to accept it as regulations are now touching the crypto-gambling sites.

More importantly, just always refer to their Terms and Regulations to know more about how KYC will be imposed on that said crypto-gambling site.

Converge has shown a good start. They are the only team that I saw active in development after being eliminated at the last conference.

One of the best independent teams and the only one I saw that is serious about winning.

I hope that they will have a good run at this conference like what they did last. Just a tough road though as SMC teams are a hard wall to break for them.
