421  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you stay updated on: May 04, 2023, 08:39:07 PM
How do you bet on such games? What are the things to be on the lookout for? Because I believe this is different from football ⚽, I also don't have access to satellite dish like my relative does, this is how he is able to get the best out of these sports.

what information can you give someone like me?

Actually, you don't need to rely on the main news portal website or something along those lines if you are really serious about becoming an avid follower of certain sports. With just lurking every day at that specific league, you will somehow be fed with updates and you won't even realize it.

Anyways, you just mentioned that you are just starting to get interested and hooked on Boxing and UFC Matches. But why it turned out that you want to include gambling right away and try sports betting? Nothing wrong though but I believed the usual thing should be for a newbie that began to show interest in a certain league or sports, just plain and simple that they want to follow matches without the involvement of gambling first.

Well then, the answer is already there. If you will keep on following matches and you are really interested in that sports or league, you will know automatically what would be the pointers to follow once you engage in sports betting on that sports.

I agree, boxing is now pure business, rival networks can't work with each other unless the fight is big and they are going to get 50/50, like in the Floyd vs Manny fight.

Building a legacy of a boxer is now always associated with the business. In fairness though, big networks and promoters are the only ones capable of organizing a big fight. Their influence can make a boxing fight generates a big revenue. The market strategy is a critical part of promoting a certain that's why they are doing everything and using all their resources to sell a fight.

As per Crawford, I don't blame him for being frustrated during his tenure at the Top Rank that's why he decided to part ways with Bob Arum but remaining a free agent is not really a good idea. He should at least consider finding another promoter.

423  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jason Moloney vs Vincent Astrolabio WBO 118lbs Title (May 13) on: April 29, 2023, 09:53:47 PM

Nice creating this thread, kabayan. It's a must-thread, especially for those PH boxing enthusiasts here.

Just a recap for others, Jason Moloney is the former Rank 1 by the WBC in the 118 lbs division and supposedly, he's the one who will face the rank 2, Nonito Donaire Jr. for the vacant WBC Bantamweight title that is being vacated by Naoya Inoue who now moved up to 122 lbs. Moving forward, Moloney's camp withdraws from the supposed fight with Donaire without detailed information about the reason (there is a reason but not sure if that's accurate as per most boxing fans think). WBC drops Moloney on their ranking list and opt-in instead to face Vincent Astrolabio.

Let's see if Jason Moloney's camp did a good choice on "avoiding" Donaire Jr. and took Astrolabio instead.
424  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: April 29, 2023, 04:01:30 AM

As I previously pointed out, if the Lakers won't do something to aggressively contain Desmond Bane and Ja Morant, in Game 6, Memphis has a chance to tie the series and force a deciding Game 7 back at the Memphis home court which will be critical for the Lakers.

And guess what, here in Game 6 which is currently in Halftime, the Lakers are doing a good job containing both Bane and Morant and surprisingly these 2 Memphis Gunners just finished with 5 and 7 points respectively before halftime. Both also not showing a good stroke at their field goal attempts and having a bad night. Who knows though that they might be able to bounce back in the second half.

The Lakers are now up at 17 points. The score is 59-42 at halftime.
425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: April 28, 2023, 08:13:33 PM
This is the consequences for having single company owns by multiple teams like San Miguel and Pangilinan. I’m not a believer on match fixing or rigged games but knowing that the team is under with same higher ups management makes me think that this is really possible. PBA franchise is already a joke. I don’t know how they can still keep up while there’s literally no ticket sales on a match that doesn’t involve Ginebra especially the finals.

PBA is nothing without these giant companies. SMC and MVP group of companies are no doubt the foundation of the league. These are the only companies in the league that have the capability to offer good contracts to our local players. Actually, there's nothing wrong with me if the PBA does have lots of sister teams.

My only concern is the imbalance and unfair trades between lower-tier teams to high tier teams. But in that case, who's gonna blame? The key players of those lower-tier teams want a high contract that is only possible to be granted by SMC or MVP teams so they will grab the big offer instead from these big franchises.

Sister teams are fine as long as regulated properly but with the PBA status today, that's not the case. If only those independent teams are willing to spend big money, they can also compete with SMC and MVP teams. I'm also looking forward to the PBA welcoming big companies into the league but since there's a politics involved, SMC and MVP won't just allow that as they are the ones who made the shape of the PBA today - talking about the wide exposure to the public.

MPBL should be the one that being called the PBA because it has mechanics that shows a national level and not a company sports league alone.

I do agree but I'm sure MPBL will soon be associated with the same politics in the PBA once it grows bigger and bigger.

Aside from that, MPBL is crowd-studded because tickets are free at most cases.

I believe betting on live bets is more suitable on this kind of game to make a better grasp on the team performance all through out the game.

This should be highly considered if having trouble analyzing the pre-game matches, not just in basketball. For example, there are lots of PBA games in the recent conference or should I say, a season, where teams bounce back from a big lead, and if a bettor has good timing on those juicy odds, a decent return is waiting.
426  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you blame someone for your gambling losses? on: April 28, 2023, 07:50:04 PM
I didn't understand one thing: did they make up this whole story due to gambling being illegal in Nigeria, therefore they couldn't been spotted as gamblers by authorities, or did they do this simply because they wanted to retrieve the lost money?

If it falls under the first case, I don't blame mother and son, as I believe gambling is an individual decision of each person. Governments and regulators shouldn't forbid the activity or punish people for gambling. However, if it falls under the second case, I blame them, because they were acting maliciously to retrieve a money they didn't have any right over it anymore, since they voluntarily played a game of luck and lost it.

As far as my research is concerned, online sports betting in Nigeria is legal.

It's even noted that Nigeria is home to more than 40 sports betting sites, with estimates closed to 60 million Nigerians actively participating in sports betting.

Back to the story, it's clear that the convicts are trying to retrieve their lost money thru a false claim.

I'm just wondering how the convicts arrange properly their petitions. Obviously, the authorities are not that dumb to easily fall on that kind of claim without a deep and proper investigation by all parties involved. Seriously I can't believe they really attempt to do some sh*tty cashback attempt knowing all the risks. Maybe they are successful in that scheme for too long but not this time.
427  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: April 27, 2023, 09:15:19 PM
Yet there is still no announcement made up until now and it is already past 2 months since Donaire and Santiago agreed to have a fight for the vacant WBC belt. We don't know what's going on behind the curtains but I'm still trying to think positive that they are just waiting for the right time when to announce it and what month/date should they have it.

One thing is for sure though, there will be no changes for the WBC Bantamweight title contenders. It's still between Nonito Donaire Jr. and Alejandro Santiago although yes, at least there should be an announcement now. As I mentioned previously, the other title which is the vacant IBF title between Emmanuel Rodriguez and Melvin Lopez also doesn't have any official date yet.

For now, it's only the vacant WBO title between Vincent Astrolabio and Jason Moloney has an official date, which is on May 13.

Hopefully, after that fight is settled, we should get fresh information now regarding the fight between Donaire and Santiago.
428  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue | WBC & WBO 122 lbs bout | July 25 on: April 27, 2023, 08:37:10 PM
It would also be good for the division if there was no rematch clause. Tapales vs. Akhmadaliev had none and Tapales does not have any mandatory defenses. This implies that he will be given the freedom to fight for a unification against either Fulton or Inoue.

Providing the timeline, Tapales might have a title defense match first before having a chance to meet either Fulton or Inoue. Maybe only if the fight between Fulton and Inoue didn't move to July, the chance of Tapales to face next either of them is possible. As per Hearn, they will push the WBA to give Tapales a mandatory fight this year. On the other hand, I don't know what's the status now of Akhmadaliev's camp dispute on that fight. The last time I read about them, they are pushing for a rematch.

Back to the subject, I do also agree that there should be no rematch clause in this fight between Fulton and Inoue. Regardless if Fulton wins or loses, I'm sure he will now push his desire to move up to 126 lbs. As for Inoue, if he loses, he will still surely be the Rank 1 contender and if Fulton will vacate his title, another title fight is waiting for Inoue again.
429  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: April 27, 2023, 08:03:54 PM
Memphis easily passed the Los Angeles Lakers in the match played at home. The score was 116-99. The Los Angeles Lakers still have the field advantage, but I believe Memphis will win the game on Saturday and get the field advantage again. Because Memphis is a better team and team play is more prominent.

Desmond Bane is the biggest threat to the Lakers in this series.

Back in Game 4, the Grizzlies almost steal that game because of Desmond Bane's unstoppable offense in the last few minutes of the regulation. Good thing that the Lakers managed to get some clutch shots in that game and win at the end. Here in Game 5, Bane almost repeats how he performed in Game 4 and consistently draining shots even contested and against a tight defense.

If the Lakers won't do something to aggressively contained Desmond Bane and also, Ja Morant, in Game 6, Memphis has a chance to tie the series and force a deciding Game 7 back at the Memphis home court. The Lakers need to finish the series next game or else, their effort from the whole season just to get into play-in for the playoffs spot, might all be wasted.
430  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The psychology of betting..... on: April 27, 2023, 07:40:04 PM
What patterns do you see and how much do you believe in it?

Different gamblers have their own preferences so even if there's no direct connection or anything technical related to increasing the winning chance, just let them believe what they think "if it's somehow effective for them". Somehow, once they experience a continuous losing streak, those things will be ignored now.

I do understand those people as personally, I admit, I do have my own things that I followed which I think, are effective at some point, especially when playing luck-based games such as casino games. But of course, technically, no relation to increasing my winning chances. It's more just an instinct and I don't see something wrong with having that own followed pattern in gambling at luck-based games.

The bottom line though, obviously, we should understand that gambling is gambling and always be responsible on our end.
431  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: April 27, 2023, 07:16:23 PM

That was sad to see but we can't take away the fact that the case is one of the worst-case scenarios happening in real life once a person falls into the trap of gambling. In my own view, I don't mind a person being a gambling addict as long as they are still responsible outside their lives outside gambling, if possible.

The old guy is surely stressed and depressed because of his growing gambling debt and his mind is now confused about what things should be done. Having difficulty thinking of some ways how to overcome the financial problem to the point that his mind is not functioning well.

Gambling responsibly is easy to say but in reality, hard to cope with for others.

There are people who didn't realize that they are turning worst because of gambling. Hope they can be saved.
432  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never Expect Consistent Winnings From Gambling - A Lesson I Learnt. on: April 26, 2023, 11:59:12 PM

We can't really take away that mindset from those who already win big from gambling. These people think that the winning experience they got from gambling will be repeated always. That feeling when they won big, something they always want to experience again - that's the start of the trap.

I even experience that personally and for others here as well I'm sure of it. Since we won big, we want that to happen again and the result, is several attempts to experience that again. Unfortunately, the result isn't the same and because of that, more attempts will be made until experiencing that winning big amount again.

It's the same when Bitcoin is on a very bullish trend and every newbie thinks they are smart as they made profits in just a short term. They think earning money in Bitcoin is easy as 1,2,3 and their confidence takes them to a higher level. And when bear trends come, the entire of them just vanished without a trace.
433  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: April 26, 2023, 11:41:15 PM
Good thing that you still believe in our PBA kabayan hehe. Same here, I bet on the game thinking that it's not rigged or scripted as we sometimes jokingly say but based on the strength of the team and its adjustment made to win a ball game.

As a long-time PBA enthusiast here, I think for 20 years already, I'm not blind to those dramas, scripts, "bigayan", "Sagip Kapamilya" issues at some of the games. We can't really blame others who think that the league is scripted. Maybe yes, maybe no, but more importantly, I'm sure "most" games are still fair and square like what I pointed out before.

Actually, we can assume if the game is scripted or not if we watched the game live and we saw unusual things that are supposed not to happen.

Thanks for the correction, but this suspension might not have happened if the brawl did not occur. Additionally, since this game is public, is Big Beau foolish enough to play in that league despite knowing the possibility of getting suspended?

If I'm not mistaken that was an invitational game or some sort of that, and since Rain Or Shine is resting for a long now and PBA now finished its recent season, Belga thinks that it's fine not to coordinate on his team as this game he played is an event. Yes, if there's no brawl happening, Belga might get away from the possible suspension. Abueva before has the same case if I'm not mistaken, playing outside the PBA even under a live contract.
434  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Politicians behind the development of gambling platform on: April 25, 2023, 11:31:54 PM
Do you think that government should have a rule or a law for election candidates not to have a franchise in any form of gambling, in fact, there are a lot of politicians who are operators of illegal small-town lotteries this is to accumulate funds they can use for election campaigns.

Regardless, will that law really be enforced?

Whether on what are those things where the election campaign funds came from, it's easy for these politicians to state in their respective ads that it was a paid campaign advertisement from their friends. Referring to how the PH election goes, it was the most scene that people see here.

Actually, here in PH, I'm sure the source of campaign funds doesn't really matter even though I believed there's a law for it. What the Commission of Election here is always strict about is the "Set Budget" that a candidate should spend in the whole entire campaign period and that also includes their exposure on TV ads etc.
435  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I am only trying to stay safe by gambling less on: April 25, 2023, 08:41:54 PM
Famz, drop your opinion on this, would you categorize these two as gambling? Because the only winning factor from Bitcoin investment is to just buy low and wait for a high price, it's not the same with casinos. Am I not making sense? I will like to hear from you.

If you asked me, the comparison is not making sense. I don't even consider it as worthy of discussion to argue because generally, both gambling (as in the usual gambling) and anything related to crypto e.g. trading, investment, etc. have a different approach.

Basically, everything you risk with money can be considered gambling but remember, it's not that you are really into usual gambling depending on what kind of investment it is. There are lots of approaches for that in order to make it profitable in the long run.

Bottom line, it's totally nonsense to compare the possible generated profits between the usual gambling and bitcoin investment.
436  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: April 25, 2023, 07:40:02 PM
Big Beau has been suspended. This guy really cannot control his temper on the court. He's already in the PBA, so maybe his pride was hurt by whatever happened in Cebu. I'm not surprised, actually, as Big Beau sometimes has altercations with his opponents in the PBA, but this one is just too much.

Technically, the suspension wasn't because of the brawl. Regardless if Beau Belga was involved in the brawl or not, or let's say the brawl didn't really happen, the game where he was involved was not sanctioned by the governing league. A PBA player under a live contract can't just be involved or participate in the league outside the PBA. What if they got injured? That's why it should be subject to suspension.

Can this game-fixing allegation affect your betting behavior on the game we love in the Philippines guys?

Saw this news too but decided not to share it here because I have lots of questions that will make my mind blow and since the news only stated a few and lack of information, what we will have here is only guesses and speculation. Some of my concern is, even though Sangalang intentionally takes part in it, if his teammates don't know what will be the supposed scenario, therefore, how Sangalang can even control the supposed flow of the game?

As for the question of yours kabayan, no, it won't affect my betting behavior in the PBA as one mistake by a player, for let's say it was confirmed, won't generalize the overall behavior of the whole league. Still, I do see most games are fair and square regardless if it's between sister teams or not.
437  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Nghitumbwa (May 13) on: April 25, 2023, 07:15:16 PM
It is true that a single punch is more than enough to change the outcome of any fight, and it is one of the aspects which makes boxing so exciting compared to other sports, as a boxer could be losing on the judge score cards with no possibility to obtain the victory this way and with a single punch they could win the fight and do so in a way that is not only more impressive but way more authoritative, as what can be more authoritative than to win while you are still standing up and your rival lays defeated on the floor.

Remember that in boxing, a lucky punch should always be associated with strong power. Even a boxer will manage to successfully land a blow on their opponent, if it's lacking power then it's useless. Referring to Nghitumbwa, his credentials at this point isn't yet enough to consider him a strong puncher in this division. On the other hand, Casimero is proven to have a well-built structure that for a chance to knock him down, his opponent should really have that strong punch that can withstand his defense.

Since Nghitumbwa is somehow new to the scene, we won't really know what he is capable of once he stepped on the ring.

For Casimero, should be a tune-up fight for him if the goal is to be included in the contender's list. Being defeated by a non-popular boxer and unranked like Nghitumbwa means Casimero is nowhere within the level of the top-ranked boxers at 122 lbs division. Although I don't see it happening.
438  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: April 24, 2023, 11:58:49 PM
Southeast Asian Games, though will not be that competitive, is a good tune-up game for the Gilas team.

Honestly, that's the most concern to me now that Gilas needs to win before we can talk about the biggest basketball competition. Before we used to think that SEA Games basketball is a good tune-up game for Gilas as the Philippines reign the men's basketball competition here in almost 3 decades.

Last SEA games, Gilas was upset by the country Indonesia and has a perfect record of 6-0 in the men's basketball.

If Gilas won't win the gold medal in SEA Games, what can we expect from them in much biggest upcoming competition, the ASIAN Games and FIBA World Cup?
439  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: There are many advantages to the relationship between gambling and Bitcoin. on: April 24, 2023, 07:57:12 PM
Furthermore, Bitcoin transactions are often cheaper and faster than traditional banking methods, which can save gamblers money and time.

I'm both a regular gambler on crypto-gambling sites and fiat online sites. I'm a crypto enthusiast but I must say that it's quicker and faster to do deposits and withdrawals on fiat online sites. In only a matter of seconds, the money will be sent or received right. Although the comparison is not a big deal to me since regardless of whether it's crypto or fiat, as long as deposits and withdrawals won't take so long, I'm fine with that.

I'm not sure though what you mean by "cheaper". In most cases, fiat gambling sites don't have fees for deposits.

Regardless of crypto or fiat, how can gamblers save money on both if it means gambling after all?
440  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you take Part in Gambling Lotteries ? on: April 23, 2023, 08:36:04 PM
What if, I get a chance to participate in a lottery without any investment?
If any gambling site offers, free of cost entry in the lottery, i would definitely not miss that one. Smiley

Free of cost = don't expect a decent reward but should be enough and don't complain. It's free after all.
High amount risk = high reward. If at some point we were given a free entry, then don't expect a massive jackpot reward.

Impossible for me that free-cost chances are also eligible for the same jackpot prize that is under the tier of those paid ones.

As for my personal experience, yes, it's been my habit since then to take my chances at the physical lottery here in our place. Just a few minute's walk, almost all blocks have stationed lottery outlets. A $1-$2 bet worth in my currency per week shouldn't harm my personal budget.

Just consider it a loss already prior to the draw lol.
