I think also that people don't realize what the GPL does to create permanent code monopolies.  This would be much more equitable if the author were also bound to the GPL, but in fact one of the prime uses of the GPL is to prevent others from selling commercial licenses while retaining one's own right to do so.
Modify the code and, as required, license it yourself under the GPL. Now you can sell commercial licenses, too.

I think he mean, "dual licensed business model". One is the GPL, the others is "as long as you pay us, you can do whatever the shit you want" license.

So, any work lately?
4383  Economy / Economics / Re: Growing the Copyfree Movement on: December 10, 2010, 02:32:15 PM
I already created an encyclopedia that is dual licensed under GNU FDL/CC-BY.  Wink

The conclusion? Nobody cares if you're an obscure encyclopedia.
4384  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Fractional Reserve Banking Didn't Prop Up Yet? on: December 10, 2010, 07:27:50 AM
Any other suggestion on how to verify the integrity of banks/e-wallet/whatever.
4385  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Fractional Reserve Banking Didn't Prop Up Yet? on: December 10, 2010, 07:10:57 AM
Well, I am definitely going to petition banks I used if I can download their wallet at least one time everyday at anytime I want.
4386  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Fractional Reserve Banking Didn't Prop Up Yet? on: December 10, 2010, 06:57:37 AM
Loaning is fine. It's just losing my saving due to fractional reserve banking that I am worried about.
4387  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Austrian Economic Study Group on: December 10, 2010, 06:56:48 AM
Anybody have a book that they want to suggest?
4388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How To Force Sites To Accept Bitcoin! on: December 10, 2010, 06:35:18 AM

Bitcoin.org text sounds like the classic FOSS project blurb.

It's also the most unmarketable information. Here how you market your software: http://www.bingocardcreator.com/
4389  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Fractional Reserve Banking Didn't Prop Up Yet? on: December 10, 2010, 06:25:53 AM
Hmm, how do you verify the integrity of banks?
4390  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Fractional Reserve Banking Didn't Prop Up Yet? on: December 10, 2010, 05:53:37 AM

Which banks are you talking about, exactly ?

Mtgox and mybitcoin.
4391  Economy / Economics / Why Fractional Reserve Banking Didn't Prop Up Yet? on: December 10, 2010, 05:49:19 AM
So, we do not see any fractional reserve banking yet. All the banks are full-reserve.

I appreciate what your doing with your art, kiba, and I hope the bitcoin original art market does grow.

As far as I know, I am the only artist who continuously produced arts for bitcoin.
4394  Economy / Economics / Re: The economics of generalized bitcoin on: December 09, 2010, 08:33:10 PM
And FWIW, there is not more "built-in" demand for another alternate currency. If anything, only being able to use them in a DNS setting makes them a less viable competitor to Bitcoin.

Alternate currency? BitDNS is not a competitor to bitcoin, it's [edit] supposed to serve the purpose of domain registration.
4395  Economy / Economics / Re: what make bitcoin exchange rate go up/down to usd ? on: December 09, 2010, 08:20:52 PM
read my post up, program will behave like people are really buy/sell. If i can do it, just think what this japanese bitcoin father can do

This is a forum. You could at least clean up your writing up to my level. We called Satoshi the bitcoin founder, not "father". Father is weird, IMHO.

http://pastecoin.com/download.php?file=43 Price: 0.10 BTC.

More shading, and more redrawing of lines. Instead of those figging ugly hairlines, I have replace most of the hair strand lines with niccccce lines. I hope you guys will be able to perceive the difference because I put about an hour of work into this.

I also watched a few tutorial on drawing and coloring anime figures. In that time, I learned that I did my shading wrong. So, shading fixing here I come!
4397  Other / Off-topic / Re: DDOS attack by anonymous on paypal, mastercard, visa .etc on: December 09, 2010, 08:06:35 PM
No. We do it the hardcore way, productions of goods and services meant to undermine the authority of the state.
4398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitDNS and Generalizing Bitcoin on: December 09, 2010, 07:51:05 PM
Our code repository is non-existent and we're still debating the best route for DomainChain/BitDNS.

* kiba is anxious.
4399  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Mybitcoin Integration Services on: December 09, 2010, 07:49:39 PM
Erm, I am reluctant to buy because I don't have much money. The entirely of my saving is 99.86 BTC, some of which are reserved for pledge payment in the future. Sorry.
4400  Economy / Economics / Re: what make bitcoin exchange rate go up/down to usd ? on: December 09, 2010, 06:00:42 PM

So there is some kind of system that is calculating transations ? How I can be sure that system is working good ? no controled by anyone outside. Controled only by programist that creat it.

The price of bitcoin is determined by the market.

You can inspect the source code yourself. However, the real control lies in those who run the software. The programmer may wrote the code, but it's the user who run bitcoin that decide if they want to use it.
