No, maybe a rich kid wanted to get his hand into some goodies offered here. He might had just buy a lot(Like 10K USD) and the price spiked. It is going to fall under 0.65 soon. xD
It can easily fall to .55 because the bid volume above that is not very high.

libertyreserve doesn't ever reverse transactions. they're trying to be a 'hard currency'. so you're pretty much SOL there.
Don't forget what paypal did to mtgox and to the bitcoin economy. Hard currency are a better alternative.

Dunno, I feel it is coming down to 0.55(near the open for the day) if that is the case I would still be happy except for the hoarders. xD Time to sell your bitcoins or buy merchandise? xD
Hoarders will just be "less happy", but they will still be happy.

I'm only referring to the Jan 24th incident personally. Sorry for the confusion. And yes, I always use HTTPS as you are redirected automatically.
They are merely fishing for names.

I am not wrong, I might be not very well informed Yea, it might be worse. Speculating further, in presence of virtually no useful information, just knowing general way how web developers do stuff these days I would guess that this might be a SQL injection attack, where attacker got to user auth database and bruteforced password hashes (probably even using a bunch of 5970 . Hopefully, mtgox will come up with a statement and stop all these speculations soon. Maybe you could start a bitcoin security company in which you certify sites for following security protocols?

MtGox said that the event on 1/24 was people merely accessing my account for name.
In other words, it wasn't compromised, maybe?
Even so, I do not feel safe.
Bitcoiners from IRC channel reported that their password are randomly generated but their accounts are still compromised.

Don't we all... funny how the times are sync'd though.
Well, I didn't have a dictionary password. I used numbers, and a symbol. Maybe it wasn't long enough? In any case, this is a terrible thing to happen.

It seem that I'll have to change my security practice too.

and if so, is this good or bad?
There's already bot. No, it's not bad. also Why is there a limit to the total number of bitcoins? What happens when bitcoins are destroyed say in a fire? does the system compensate for destroyed currency?
The bitcoin economy could run quite happily on 1 BTC. Plus, you can back up your wallet.

fabianhjr do you have an email or something I can send everything to?
I sent ya email containing his email address.
I only got the one from kiba, and a podcast transcript / overview of bitcoin from sgornick
I guess that mean we only going to have two articles this week. Everyone who submitted an article now will have to be reviewed for next week.
What's the standard commission for an article?
75% of the revenues is devoted to writers. Those 75% of the revenues is divided up by how many articles a writer submit.
yea sure thing, I got some PMs from potential advertisers that just came in so as soon as I get the replies and the actual ads I'll send everything. Sorry everything just came in last night.
Waiting for two weeks between issue is just torture. Again, how many articles do you have for the next issue?
So, maybe it should be biweekly and not weekly? Also, chris, can you send me the articles and ads so I can compile the new issue or should we wait for next week and make it official biweekly?
Publish it this Wednesday.
