Supply and demand.
4402  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Kiba's Art Thread on: December 09, 2010, 05:33:53 PM
Ok, my last statement make no sense, either.

I meant, you have to pay if you want to preview it?

Thanks for fixing the problem.
4403  Economy / Marketplace / Opengameart.org Now Accept Bitcoin on: December 09, 2010, 05:19:26 PM
The OpenGameArt project, which patronize artists for the express purpose of building a resource base for open source games.

If you want open source games to have pretty graphics, you can now donate bitcoin at this address: 1Q1Vh8Mfr2yNeDogtJWNLMZCdxteCwbueE

Their website is: http://opengameart.org/
4404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Yes, the Bitcoin.org Site and Forum were Down on: December 09, 2010, 04:53:37 PM
Yes, we should do something better than a HTML scrape.
4405  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Kiba's Art Thread on: December 09, 2010, 04:29:14 PM
It just wasn't showing before until you had deposited.

Huh

Do you mean, I have to pay before downloading? Makes no sense.
4406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can you explain me something about buy/sell bitcoin on: December 09, 2010, 04:26:42 PM
Bitcoin god?  Huh
4407  Economy / Economics / Re: The economics of generalized bitcoin on: December 09, 2010, 04:23:14 PM

Haha, then why even worry about getting it into the main client as a transaction type?
Huh

Seem to be a non-sequitur.
4408  Economy / Economics / Re: Growing the Copyfree Movement on: December 09, 2010, 04:17:24 PM
Very few business that I know of make money from BSD model. They make it from their GPL/dual licensed model.

It doesn't matter if you just closed the source code and try to sell it. If you make your own changes, but you have to integrate the upstream source....well good luck.
4409  Economy / Economics / Re: The economics of generalized bitcoin on: December 09, 2010, 04:13:26 PM
Because there are 200 million domain names that use the other service and have no reason to "mine" for domains when they can just buy one. You can't be suggesting that even if BitDNS was integrated, it would be more than a niche.

Nonsense, most people will still buy domain names.
4410  Economy / Economics / Re: The economics of generalized bitcoin on: December 09, 2010, 03:34:05 PM
The truth, probably, is that bitdns will never be anything big.

And why do you think that is?
Quote
Heck, the guy from The Pirate Bay is making his own distributed DNS.

I started the bounty pledge drive precisely because I didn't like what the The Pirate Bay is doing.
4411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in RALLY mode on: December 09, 2010, 03:18:48 PM
Maybe we can reach out to some Asian forums? Anyone who has some contacts?

A bunch of Japanese tweeted about bitcoin. Maybe we could contact one of them and ask them if they're interested in making some sort of exchange for yen to bitcoin.
4412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Yes, the Bitcoin.org Site and Forum were Down on: December 09, 2010, 03:17:54 PM
I run the earthsociety.org portal and the digital coin forum (small beans compared to bitcoin forum!). Would be willing to give a subdomain with ftp access to a maintainer to manage a mirror of bitcoin forum.

So how hard it is to get the forum data mirrored, anyone?
4413  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Kiba's Art Thread on: December 09, 2010, 02:48:30 PM
For my next art project, I will auction "character" space.

The image will depict Haruka Nakamoto, the genderbended version of the inventor who invent bitcoin, talking with 3 bitcoiners(Who still have no idea) in a New York cafe after a bitcoin conference. This will be a wallpaper.

It will  be my first entirely digital artwork, no drawing on paper.

1. The person sitting next to her. waterfox - 2 BTC.

2. The person sitting across to her. waterfox - 2 BTC.

3. The person sitting left of the person sitting across to her. davidonpda - 1 BTC.

4. Background spot. da2ce7 - 10 BTC

If you win, you will be asked to provide a photo, or at least a description of what you look like. You will also be provided daily FREE access to work-in-progress.

End date: Whenever I finished the current artwork.

As far as I can tell, the biggest obstacle to the acceptance of bitcoin is the dirty reputation of our self appointed cheerleader.
Huh
4415  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Austrian Economic Study Group on: December 09, 2010, 06:22:39 AM
How do you propose this group should work?

I don't know. We could have a round-table on a book. Let say, each of us pledge to read a book about economic. Then we get together and talk about the particular chapter with questions like....

What is true and not true, economic implication, and so on.
4416  Other / Off-topic / Re: Libertarians/Anarchists Answer Me This on: December 09, 2010, 05:45:47 AM

I'm referring to getting off of the teet of federal "assistance." So I suppose what I mean is being self sufficient.

Self sufficient mean making your own food, house, etc. Interdependent mean that you are relying on trade partners, and trade partners relying on you.
4417  Economy / Economics / Re: The economics of generalized bitcoin on: December 09, 2010, 05:42:44 AM
Then do we disagree?  Smiley

Bad communication exacerbated by my brain not processing right(sleep deprived).

You are against the protocol being filled with "other uses" (like BitDNS - an exception to normal use). If the official client only allows standard transactions, then the protocol is not getting "minced".

"Minced" is allowing humans to do whatever they want, instead of adhering to strict procedure defined by software code. In other words, introduction unpredictable, and eventually a lack of respect for the rule of law. "Let censor this shit because I don't like it" that kind of thing. That is what I mean here. Unfortunately, my brain thought process wasn't translated accurately in the writing.
4418  Other / Off-topic / Re: send out your women on: December 09, 2010, 05:36:25 AM
Jeri Ellsworth is the most hardcore hardware hacker I know, while also being a women.

I don't think she's an anarchist, though.
4419  Other / Off-topic / Re: Libertarians/Anarchists Answer Me This on: December 09, 2010, 05:33:41 AM
Economic independence is high on my list of priorities. You should be happy about that.

interdependent

Anarchy is life without rules and is impossible for social creatures.

Anarchy is no ruler, not no law.
