In retrospect, whenever I start telling other people about how well I'm doing on X cryptocurrency, that's historically been the best time to sell all and walk away for awhile. But I really haven't had the urge to do that yet, so I'm not selling anything.

From my understanding, it is to allow people with lots of dust amounts to "sweep_dust" (sweep_dust is transfer 0 to your own wallet) without incurring *huge* fees that would come with a larger mixin.
edit: by huge fees i mean fees that exceed the sum of the dust amount being sent

In this time of great sadness, we have decided to erect a monument of the King in his Throne in the new B22 borough.
Riddick is crafting it himself and has asked for 10,000 CKS. We have already received pledges for 5900 CKS. If you wish to donate CKS for the effort, please CONSUME <the CKS item> AMOUNT [KING] and we will credit your donation appropriately.
So far: Saddam: 2500 CKS Sir Jacket: 2400 CKS Crichton: 1000 CKS
edit: Sir Karl Hungus: 2400 CKS

About 2 years ago I didn't know much, but I was interested in Monero so I forced myself to learn how to use the command line wallet. It was fun to learn how things worked on a deeper level so I started learning how to code when I had the time.
Fast-forward to now and I will be starting a new job as a developer next Monday. I still have a lot to learn, but now someone will actually be paying me to write code for them. HAHA! Thanks Monero!
I post this to say that anyone can learn how to do this if you have the interest and make time for it.

monero-nodejs 3.0 updatehttps://github.com/PsychicCat/monero-nodejsI recently updated the monero-nodejs library for simplewallet. Changes: - Refactored to use zero dependencies. Never worry about breaking changes in the future, and it should be compatible with most environments.
- Tests! Clone the repository and run npm install && npm test to test if your wallet is configured properly.

i bid 30 XMR!
This is the first edition of the Cryptonic silver monero, I think only 108 were made.
How can you see if it's first edition or not? Do I have a first edition? http://imgur.com/a/oDSmw#iZiIcYI Sorry smoothie for asking semi-offtopic questions. Don't kill me. If the coin is marked 2014 = first edition. 2015 = second edition. There are some other minor changes between the two but that is the easiest way to tell the difference.

Off the top of my head, block time was increased from 1 to 2 minutes to reduce the number of empty blocks, and also to reduce the number of orphan blocks.

Quicken 210 votes. First I have seen of this thread in over a year, and the first I have heard of a now expired vote. Was any of this dissolution vote stuff cross-posted on the main Monero thread? I can't see it going back through to January. I only regularly check the main thread and the speculation thread. Q Funds were returned to the members, if you PM David with an XMR address he should be able to refund you the remaining XMR. I don't think the vote was even tallied up since no matter what happened, the remaining funds should be returned to the members.

I disagree that Monero is not useful. I store my savings in it. I use it to buy goods using XMR.to. I play games with it at Crypto Kingdom. Maybe next I'll work out a deal to pay my rent with it. Most importantly I use it to keep as much of my hard earned money out of those grubby banks.
I agree with part of that. For someone who isn't an aggressive speculator, "storing savings" in it is a bit much. Nothing wrong with being a speculator, but it isn't for everyone. Right. Depending on the person, buying any amount is more risk than they want to take. There have been two multi-month periods where I could not touch my XMR since it was at a loss. Don't keep any funds you absolutely need to live on in Monero, that's not sane. I think that I am not risky compared to those that take out loans to buy XMR or trade on margin, but some may say I am still risky.

It was a precursor to the 2015 rally. A few days after the guy dumped the price skyrocketed.

On the IRC there was talk of a 'daily penalty interest', that might soon be taking over instead of these random checks, so it does pay to take care of your finances and avoid prolonged negative balance on your account.
In the GoogleDB era there was a yearly (real time weekly) interest for negative balances. I would be in favor of that returning. Daily penalties are too much in my opinion, it's easy to get dumped on and not know that your balance has gone negative. 1 week gives someone enough time to get their balance in order. If it does become daily, that's fine but maybe add some sort of notification via email that your balance has gone negative.

KABOOOOOOM
I love the sound of legit coins such as Monero taking off, while the Maid and Dash scams implode into great bloody heaps of FAIL. Today's 99bitcoins article basically endorses Monero as the best way to unlink/untaint Bitcoins, and that site gets a TON of traffic from their ingenious/hilarious BitcoinObituaries.com redirect (as well as the well written and informative content). It will take time for the article to be passed around, read, and acted upon. Plus more time for receptive readers to move their BTC to Polo and buy coins. But the resulting long BOOOOOOOOOM has already started. How long until most DMN stop sending/receiving BTC directly, and only use shapeshifted XMR for in/out flows? Soon? Two Weeks? ATH and oz/silver parity parties to be held at Monero Manor and Monero Mountain! I sometimes peruse r/DarkNetMarkets for lulz and noticed some awareness about Monero here because of that article. https://www.reddit.com/r/DarkNetMarkets/comments/4aoizf/the_complete_guide_to_using_bitcoin_anonymously/

BLOCK 1009827 CONTEST: The other day a few of us on IRC tried to time some transactions in the 1,000,000th block but with no success. Transactions made it in the 999999 and 1,000,001 blocks but not in the 1 million. This time lets get it right. Secure your place in Monero history by donating to the devs on hard fork day. Time it right and become legendary with some sort of message in your payment ID! http://myrcraft.com/xmr.htmltransfer 44AFFq5kSiGBoZ4NMDwYtN18obc8AemS33DBLWs3H7otXft3XjrpDtQGv7SqSsaBYBb98uNbr2VBBEt7f2wfn3RVGQBEP3A 1
