1061  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero (MRO) Speculation thread on: July 17, 2014, 08:24:37 PM
hey guys...

so is this crazy climb manipulation?  i have not been around XMR long enough to have a sense of its movements.  this seems like too much too fast, and seems fishy.

i own some, and i want more.  but i dont want to panic buy.

be patient and average in with monero...i think it is still safe to buy in the short term until 0.008 but take a look at the charts, monero has a tendency to trend strongly and overshoot its "fair price" as more people discover its useful anonymous qualities and want some.

meaning, you'll likely have another downtrend in the future and buy when everyone else is saying "monero is dead".

patience is key, don't let your emotions get caught up in it.
1062  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero the next Pump and Dump of the Month on: July 17, 2014, 08:00:47 PM
Monero has already survived 2 pumps and settled at higher lows each time.

No doubt people are exuberant about the coin and they well should be...just buy prudently!
1063  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: --* Monero Community Hall of Fame *-- on: July 16, 2014, 09:25:42 PM
I donated 45 XMR just now, and a few weeks ago I donated 10, so put me down for 55!

approximately 1% of my holdings Smiley
1064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: July 16, 2014, 03:25:53 AM
i'm about to join the 50/50 club = 50% BTC 50% Monero

obviously i'm not a superwhale but its significant to me.

Please be adviced that 99/1 is the prudent allocation.

Thank you for your advice, I agree it is best to remain cautious. I'm only playing with what I can afford to lose. But I have a very good feeling in Monero and I enjoy the company of more intelligent people. Hehe Smiley

If I had 10k BTC it would be a different story. I'm trying to rebuild my stash after dumping too much in July 2013 tbh...many lessons I have learned the hard way.

edit: like my sig?

Hello FXOpen, I would like to resign from my signature spot. I do not post enough and I would like to use my signature for other things now.

Please confirm, thanks.

Cheap XMR to be had right now. I'm already holding a large bag of XMR but I'm tempted to slowly average some more in there.

1068  Economy / Speculation / Re: Supermoon on: July 12, 2014, 09:01:45 PM
Everyone look at the Supermoon tonight and make a wish...

<bitcoin to the moon>

We will see what happens!

I don't know what it's worth but I've found some interesting stuff analyzing XMR latest 2 months of trading on poloniex. It seems that the trend we are in corresponds to the trend we were in 1 month ago:

6 June : high 2,58 / low 1,75
7 july  : high 3,9 / Low 3

Then we go up ~ 1 mbtc per day like in june. I advise you to compare the data for yourself as I'm too tired to copy everything.  The "big reversal" happened the 10th of June (high 3,5; low 2,1 ; close 2,6) so if XMR is really on a monthly cycle, history could repeat itself on 11th of July. Place your orders accordingly.

tl;dr: we hit bottom 3mbtc and buying at 3 was like buying at 1,75 one month ago.

edit: edited numbers typo

the other day i was daydreaming about a Monero that bubbled on a regular basis but always settled at a higher low...

anybody else have a feeling monero is about to explode?

1071  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Combined Updating Market Depth Chart - XMR Monero - Poloniex and Mintpal on: June 29, 2014, 07:29:19 PM
Seems like technicals are recovering...I realize most people here are either pump and dump or buy and hold. But could be useful sign.

1) Accum/Dist
2) TSI
3) RSI ***
4) RVGI

That confirms the overall sentiment. with something this new & promising you can tell just by observing the XMR announcement thread, every day new people are setting up their first Monero wallets. Demand is rising as people discover this is greatly undervalued...the ease of use will come in time but until then volatility is to be expected, right? Smiley

Could you add an XMR chart?

https://www.mintpal.com/market/XMR/BTC#

Thank you! Love the charts!

I'd rather see a Poloniex chart, that's where the volume is for XMR.

I have been using the command line simplewallet for a couple weeks and I really love the simplicity and ease of use. It would be nice to have the following options if possible.

-Sanity check to confirm transfer of funds. Something like "You are about to send 10 XMR with a mixin factor of 3 to <address> with payment ID <paymentID>. Are you sure? [y/n]". Right now it seems too easy for a user to make a careless mistake.

-Some way to view a history of outgoing transfers.

Thank you for your great work so far I am excited about the future of Monero.

please add Monero (XMR) to your altcoin charts!

Monero btc hero whales (if they actually exist):
Now would be a good time to throw up some buy walls- even if at low levels - to show some support for YOUR coin and keep things positive in the mind of average joe investors! Let's keep the price stable as possible!

Things don't work that way.  You buy the coin because it offers value.  If you waste your energy on a futile manipulation, you have no power when it could make a difference.

Instead buy because it is crazy cheap.

Me, I hit my limit for the week with a buy at 0035.  Next week I may want more.

i was surprised to see my 0035 order filled overnight, feeling good waking up with 1000 more XMR Smiley

Hey guys, can you tell me from your expirience which GUI Wallet is safe and easy?

thank you verymuch
None. They are all experimental, although it may not be apparent. We are working on it, but have no ETA.

If you want security for your money stick with the CLI. It is not that hard after the initial learning phase. I too was intimidated  at the beginning, in April.

I agree just learn how to use the command line simplewallet. It is especially easy to install on Linux. A little work with OSX. Haven't used it on Windows.

run bitmonerod and simplewallet, then just remember to "refresh" and "save" and "exit"

Looking forward to this week's Monero Missive.

Coming soon?

I too now own a reasonable amount of xmr after becoming aware of it from Hero members. I did some due diligence and really liked what i found. so diversified half of my btc holdings mainly due to fungibility worries. Do others think the bottom has been reached? i cannot decide if i should buy more at this price, or be patient and see if it goes lower.

Just be patient! - 50% of your BTC into XMR is already significant amount.

If anything you could say hero members are the type crazy enough to spot potential value and trends further in advance than the herd and capitalize on that. In the medium to long term the potential for XMR is very good, that's why I bought some. But the altcoin ecosystem is amok with short term traders looking for a quick profit. So be very careful, its risky out here!

Missing some action on XMR:

48 BTC buy wall at 0.005 moved up to 0.006 and is currently being chipped away...what happens next?
