Yeah, after trying --detach for a bit on VPS I do find myself missing the freedom of being able to go into the daemon if needed. Especially if I'm already using tmux for managing multiple simplewallet accounts, might as well.
--detach is nice if you are running a node on your local computer and just want to start it up and forget about it.
Will update the VPS guide to include the other methods.

I am also going to withdraw my funds.

Be careful syncing from scratch! I just got shutdown temporarily due to high CPU load.
Wait for Fluffypony's script, it downloads a current blockchain database dump and doesn't hammer the CPU.
Hehe, yeah they shut me down for it. You must ask permission first apparently... Sorry about that. I got a bit too excited about it. If you have another 0.9 node running, you can try copying the lmdb blockchain over to the new VPS and running that way without the high CPU load of syncing from scratch. I'm in the process of doing that now, will report back.

FWIW I don't really recommend messing with limit-down unless it is interfering with your gaming, movie streaming, voip, etc. It is just going to make the sync process take longer and use about the same total bandwidth anyway. Usually "sprint to idle" is the best approach.
Limit-up is another matter, since that is a measure of how much you are serving blocks to other nodes. You can currently cut that down and leech if you want to. Although somewhat anti-social, it is better than not running a node at all.
Thank you for your comments on this. I hope we see many more nodes in 2016! Added one yesterday. Costs $15 US a year and took about 15 minutes to setup the VPS + the Monero node with Fluffyponys script. Asks for monthly fee here. https://dedistation.com/billing/order.phpuse the direct link i posted above for yearly fee.

Here's the VPS link! https://dedistation.com/billing/order.php?step=1&productGroup=9&product=12I don't have the script he mentioned, but here's a quickstart guide to running a node on a VPS if you need one. https://github.com/PsychicCat/monero-site/blob/master/knowledge-base/user-guides/vps_run_node.md

I am also experiencing this problem with /invest, as in it's really really slow to load. Actually now I can't load it at all. Chatbox says the dev is working on the issue.

I dunno, sounds like luck to me. You have 1% of the hashrate, you have a good chance of getting blocks no matter what.

Yes, I'm not sure what the bottleneck is.
Querying thousands or millions of payment IDs does not slow down simplewallet. Maybe their database is slowed down if the amount of deposit addresses (or payment IDs for Cryptonotes) gets too high. I'm not sure.
They say they intend to re-implement the feature and hopefully they do soon.

I don't have a bittrex account to see that, I assume you mean there is no option to make a new Payment ID? Poloniex did that recently as well for all currencies and they said it was due to abuse. On Polo, you can still generate a new deposit address or payment ID directly via the API though. Polo support said this to me the other day. The feature on the website could be abused and we had to remove it, we are going to implement it again in the near future tho.

ckBot has a new command (along with some bug fixes): !marketbuy <item> <amount>This will calculate the total cost of market buying a certain item, and what the resulting price would be. Use for calculating your buy orders! Example: Response: saddam: Market buying 10000 units of CAN would cost 31,085,625m and bring the unit price to 3,500m. !marketsell will come tomorrow

That sounds like a bounty. I think the FFS intended to get away from bounties, which tends to result in mediocre work that is just good enough to satisfy the requirements.
I could be misunderstood, but I like the proposal as it is. It has been successful so far because it rewards the devs that are already passionate and contributing to the project to come forward and ask for funding.
If i'm wrong about my presumption on bounties, then disregard this.

Indeed, do not despair if the going is difficult. We are embarking on a new adventure to further the reach of Crypto Kingdom! It is a most noble cause, and we are lucky to be a part of it.
Thinking back to those glorious Quarry days, as luck would have it I had chosen the most difficult site to produce stone. While others were churning out massive amounts, Saddam QC yielded the least stone, at a cost of ~150m/stone! The vast amount produced caused stone prices to drop to the double digits, and I was forced to hold on to my stone, which now can be sold at current prices without any loss. In addition, I earned the King's Hero medal for my valiance in the face of dire circumstances.
The Countryside subgame is even more challenging, so I highly encourage anyone to persevere through the initial pitfalls, as it may be quite rewarding! And at this point in the game, who knows what will happen.

Thanks for pointing it out, I'll make something and submit a pull request today.

It's not really a conspiracy theory when you consider all the reverse trolling that has happened in the past. Whatever the case, whoever did this did not pay "top dollar" as their bots don't even say or do anything. Just googled it, you can get 1000 subscribers from someone on Fiverr for $25. https://www.fiverr.com/lablub4u/give-you-100-reddit-subscribers

https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/2wc7yq/new_subscribers/I recall when the subscriber count was exploding on r/Monero. I don't think anyone was disputing that it was strange and possibly fake, since the activity wasn't increasing. The thing is, what can you do to stop someone from doing that? It could very well be someone that wants to discredit Monero.

Even though the old wallet does not have a password, have you tried entering one?
If so, what was the error message?
