Right now I'm converting 100% into BTC after I pay the usual monthly bills. History has taught me to be greedy in accumulation when bitcoin is "boring" or "stable".
I also converted a significant chunk of my BTC into Monero and I'm aggressively trying to decrease my XMR:BTC ratio without selling any XMR.
Yeah, if we're looking at previous charts, you are right. Simply investing during such times has been a good thing, but we can't be certain it will remain that way, though! We may go further down from here! But respect to your optimistic stance on this! I've bought bitcoin at $10, $12, $120...the sentiment at these levels was the same as it is now. Stagnant, trading in a range. Nobody was sure what was going to happen. It was all a bit crazy to think of $100 then. As it is crazy to talk about $10,000 now. But now, with the regulations and big institutions and funds getting in place, all the while unique transaction volume is STILL increasing at exponential growth... this is not OPINION it is FACT! If price is a function of Metcalfe's Law which it seems to be...we are due for another explosion sometime before 2016. And I am confident betting everything on it.

It is recommended to use a new address every time - for privacy and for security. You can simply reuse the same receiving address but it is not best practice. Lots of people do it though.
Your Bitcoin Core wallet has already generated a pool of (100) addresses for you to use. Every time you hit "request payment" it shows you another one.
So if I post an address on a website and multiple people sent bitcoin to it I'll be OK? I'll get all the coin? 100 addresses? That's insane. That's like going to the bank and them giving you 100 checking account numbers. WTF? I thought it was safe to post and use an address? LOL. It is safe to post and use a public address anywhere you want to receive bitcoin. Just use common sense and realize that the blockchain is completely public and people can track your transactions if they so wished, based on linking your identity to a certain address and following it through other known addresses. If you are interested in real anonymous coin privacy you should look into Monero - it uses ring signatures and has anonymous capability right now. Very early stages so it is not user friendly for everyone. Darkcoin is just marketing.

I'm sorry to hear of your mistake. But you have to calm down, and learn a bit, because people are trying to help you.
The 0.2 fee went to a mining pool that mined the block your transaction was included in. However they don't make their identity public - so that's why people are telling you try Bitfury or email someone else.
The mining pools are not obligated to do anything, but I have seen them send a refund for erroneous large tx fees in the past. Way larger than 0.2 BTC.
You should drop them a line, let them know you made an error and see what happens.
Bottom line: you need to accept more responsibility for your funds if you are going to use bitcoin.

I think the good feeling you get when running a full node is enough. Supporting the network in order to allow bitcoin to happen in the first place!

I just downloaded and synced bitcoin Core.
So what address do I use to receive bitcoins?
It doesn't seem to tell me what it is.
When I click request payment, it generates a new address every time. I don't want a new wallet address for every transaction. I'll never be able to keep track of them all.
I just want one address to use with this wallet. Is that even possible???
What am I doing wrong?

Hello everyone. I have been increasingly interested in learning more since becoming involved in bitcoin in 2012.
With such a depth of intelligent and thoughtful people on this forum I was hoping that some wiser members could recommend some reading materials.
Pretend I am a complete noob and recommend some books on economics, technical analysis, markets, etc. I currently have an excess amount of time that I can dedicate towards reading and I would be very grateful for the help.

Here is the URL for Google Hangout. If you have a Google account, you can already announce you will attend it or share the link. A Google account WON'T be necessary to watch the video, but it will be for leaving comments on YouTube. If you also want to ask a question with the Q/A feature (as opposed to asking on #monero-dev) you will also need a Google+ account (new Google accounts automatically have Google+ activated, but older one might not). Monero Fireside Chat #1About Q/A: We activated the Q/A feature of Google Hangout on Air. You will have the opportunity to ask questions on Google Hangout on top of the regular #monero-dev questions. When a question asked on the Google Q/A platform will we answered, an anchor will be created on the video so that future viewers can go straight to the answer. When you click on the play icon and it goes to a large player on the right I see saddambitcoin's avatar which is just a picture of Saddam Hussein. Now *I* know why that is there, and who it belongs to... but for those who do not, do we wish to have this face associated with the project? He would be the definition of a controversial figure. No offense meant to saddambitcoin. LOL sorry guys. Why is my avatar showing up like that?

Every day that Monero is under Darkcoin is a day that gives you an opportunity to buy cheap coins.
What if one doesn't have Bitcoin with which to buy? the feeling that you get when buying XMR with DRK is amazing. Sounds more like heroine ;-) the ups and downs that cryptocurrency provides is much like hardcore drugs - riding high on a rally then the harsh comedown after. nothing else comes close. with that i say, brothers let us not be discouraged with this recent dump. we are the pioneers building a new economy here.

Maybe somebody can help guide me. Using my wallet I transfered some Monero to MintPal. I received a transaction ID 80b31d61c7862b8c94b2fc41536b9a89bb059c8f172e7b2c918a27fbef6b775 When searching http://monerochain.info/search this doesnt show up. However, the funds have been removed from my wallet and MintPal cannot find it either. Its been a couple days so it appears lost in the ether. This is my first time searching a transaction so maybe I just need some help on how to find it? Or maybe I found an issue with Monero? Did you include the payment ID when you made the transfer? Exchanges need you to specify a payment ID for cryptonote coins otherwise they will receive the XMR but have no idea who sent it to them. for example: transfer 2 <mintpal deposit address> <amount> <payment ID>

Just give me about 5 BTC and I'll make sure to donate to good causes.
I've lost about that much doing stupid things with BTC over the years (gambling, being scammed, etc).

I suppose it can happen in ways you never can really know.
Like if you give a dollar to someone and maybe cheer them up right before they are about to lose their mind and attack someone - we have no way of knowing what will happen next.
I try to be a positive influence in my immediate environment but it is hard sometimes, when the world is so competitive.
