I am now syncing to the network on a Raspberry Pi 2, using Berkeley DB. LMDB does not work at this time for RPI but I understand it will be addressed in the future. A Step-By-Step Guide to Running A Full Node on Raspberry Pi 2:(thanks to smooth, binaryFate, fluffypony) First, get your Raspberry Pi SD card set up.Download Ubuntu for Raspberry Pi: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/RaspberryPiInstall Ubuntu onto the SD card: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/installation/installing-images/README.mdNow, boot your Raspberry Pi. sudo fdisk /dev/mmcblk0Delete the second partition (d, 2), then re-create it using the defaults (n, p, 2, enter, enter), then write and exit (w). Reboot the system, then: sudo resize2fs /dev/mmcblk0p2There is no swap partition/file included. If you want swap, it's recommended you do: sudo apt-get install dphys-swapfileInstall dependencies (note, there may be more, but this is what I remember): sudo apt-get install git vim libboost1.55-all-dev build-essential doxygen libdb5.3 libevent-dev libunbound-dev miniupnpc liblmdb-devYou are now ready to build the bitmonero daemon! git clone https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero.git bitmonero cd bitmonero vim Makefile in the “release-all” section add this code: -D NO_AES=ON (type “i” to edit) escape, then :x to save cd src/blockchain_db/lmdb vim db_lmdb.cpp scroll to line 675 change “size_t mapsize = 1LL << 34;” to “size_t mapsize = 1LL << 30;” :x cd cd bitmonero make release-all cd build/release/bin ./bitmonerod --db-type berkeley

I get this error trying to build the current master of bitmonero on OSX. Any ideas what this is? Edit: You might even be trustworthy, but I will wait till someone vouches for you seeing as you have a Newbie account.
fluffypony donated 50 himself, so i figured that was enough for me to trust. Hope it works out!

Wanted to let everyone know that I'm raising money to implement Monero support for Trezor. Here is an excerpt from the post on Monero forums: I'd like to raise at least 500XMR so I could make it happen. Want to beef up your Monero wallet security? Show your support by donating and help make Monero support for Trezor a reality!
Address for donations: 49eqoQXDvVwHdjBkeBmYGc6MNSqUQEFUZ3As4PfyykFnQRq6UW8duJGi2H8CS2TGhSEFvDyndKBKJQw wZ3NLts6hM4Stpcj
What I plan on doing: - Modify the Trezor firmware to support generating private keys for Monero & support signing transactions using spend key. - Add Trezor support to simple_wallet command (or create new trezor_wallet utility) If you would like to support this effort but don't have any XMR currently, you can use ShapeShift make a donation in Bitcoin/Doge/etc. Donated 25 XMR. I don't even have a Trezor but I will definitely buy one if Monero support is added.

[coinbase kyc] It's like the twilight zone. I don't think I will be using coinbase any longer. Next time I want to buy bitcoin ill just reach out to the community on the forums here and leverage my impeccable reputation. try localbitcoins for traders in your area. Or there might even be a bitcoin ATM, I noticed there are several in my location now. ATMs make it very easy to purchase anonymously. You do end up paying a premium for these coins but it can be nice sometimes for the convenience of not having to meet up with a stranger and hope everything goes well

why would someone want to burn Monero?

I heard a rumor that soon you will be able to run a full node on a raspberry pi. So I went to Adafruit.com and ordered a Raspberry Pi 2. Adafruit accepts bitcoin, so I was able to pay with Monero using XMR.to. With a case, that comes to about 73 moneroj. Damn, that's a good service! Now that I am spending moneroj I need to start buying more.

XMR.FROM as a natural side-kick to XMR.TO has been talked about here. Not sure as to if it's being developed, but seems like it would be a good start to creating more Monero exchange options.
Unfortunately, the domain .from doesn't exist. Would have loved to get that. I use XMR.to on a daily basis, if you're wondering who the 11-13xmr/day guy is - its me. How long before you release API support ? For a "CEO" who has "sold their stash" and is "waiting for new blood to take over" you sure do spend a lot of time here. Don't you have CEO things to do? You may want to take a gander at this thread: https://forum.getmonero.org/3/merchants-and-marketplace/155/xmr-to-pay-any-bitcoin-address-anonymously-using-moneroHow is your post related to my reply regarding xmr.to?! You seem to be after me, did I hurt your feelings ? Get lost kid, I cant wait for the day new devs take over... The link he posted has the XMR.to API in it.

The Linden exchange for buying & selling SL in-world money "Lindens" turned into one of the earliest BTC exchanges. you could trade your lindens for btc and litecoin and other cryptos, no fiat to crypto though. I believe it still exists, cant remember the name...
Virwox. I remember only because that was about the time when I was figuring out how to acquire my first BTC. Ah, the memories.

Anyone complaining about development just take a look at this:
bitmonerod is using only 34 MB of RAM.
What kind of numbers was it before? before? like 5000+ Megabytes. the entire blockchain was stored in RAM

Anyone complaining about development just take a look at this: bitmonerod is using only 34 MB of RAM. Just do this to get the new version with LMDB database, works great for me on OSX Yosemite. git clone https://github.com/tewinget/bitmonero.git bitmonero-db cd bitmonero-db git checkout blockchain make release cd build/release/bin ./blockchain_converter
DONE!
|
|
|
Yes!! Thank you fluffy and tewinget! Anybody on OSX - no need to wait, just do the above instructions and then run ./blockchain_converter to convert to lmdb format. The future is here! Database is working great and using only 34 MB of RAM.

Can someone help me with github? I want to build the tewinget blockchain version on my Mac. Here's what I'm doing, but I know I'm missing something: git clone https://github.com/tewinget/bitmonero.git cd bitmonero make
How exactly do I merge the blockchain branch and get it to build using Terminal? Any help is appreciated!! edit: git checkout blockchain maybe?

Ah, back to the buying zone. Not everyone buying Monero is interested in it long term as we can see. They hop from trend to trend making 20-30% profit here and there. Nothing wrong with that, although it tends to bring some annoying trolls.
Others have a different game plan. Personally I want to buy as much XMR as possible before the next bitcoin rise. Or, less likely but not improbable, a flight of capital from BTC to something better.
I plan to hold XMR for the next 4 years at minimum, no buying and selling like crazy trying to time the top & bottom. 10, 20, 30 thousand dollars profit is not going to change my life, so I buy and hold.

El Roble looks appealing am also in the market for a French press if you'd recommend one. I lost mine I'd completely forgotten about this offer, since nobody was interested at the time. As luck would have it though, I just picked up some beans today and I have 1 fresh bag of El Roble available. I'll inquire on a price for a French press and get back to you tomorrow.

I don't get it. Why would we contribute to someone who a) did illegal things, b) made money from those illegal things, c) is now being punished for those illegal things, am I missing something?
Because the law is wrong and completely stupid?

Upon hearing the news of a devastating Earthquake looming in the near future, The Marquess of Ramsey, Riddick, and Gabriel have moved all of their precious Items out of their buildings. They are now stored outside in the middle of Saddam's garden, where nothing is close to falling on them. A waxed tarp has been fashioned out of discarded clothing in order to protect from any rainfall.
For protection, both Saddam and Riddick Company have been dispatched to guard the items from theft and destruction.

May the Church spare us from impending doom!
I hereby donate 300 gold to the Church (100 each from Saddam, Riddick, and Gabriel).

There was another XMR speculation thread with a lot of good posts, but it was riddled with trolls & rebooted as this self-moderated version.

If you guys REALLY want a wooden engraving of the XMR logo and "Monero", I could maybe make it happen with the couple of CNC machines I have access to Hand carved? Noo... that would be too messy/difficult to replicate With CNC, I can create 1 design on computer, and produce the same thing 1,000,000 times (computer controlled engraving process). Haha I know, it was a joke reference to the user WoodCollector that sold expensive items dubiously claimed to be hand carved.
