The dataType should just be 'json', since that's all your getting back. Besides, unless you control the server giving you the data, you shouldn't use jsonp.

Those graphs have a one day lag for "other", because total network hash rate takes a long time to measure. "other" is simply the average total hash rate over the last day - the current reported hash rate of all the pools. Don't get worried until it's like this for longer than a day.

However, once you start talking longer than a day, it's no longer [Tycho] that we have to worry about. At that point I would be starting a bounty thread, if there wasn't one already, to DDoS deepbit. And I know that I'm not alone. You may need to read more about this kind of attack. There is no such defined threshold as 50.000% that you may cross for a few hours or days. It may work even if you have only 30% of the network power, but with lower chance, or may fail at 70% too. It's just more probable to sustain longer when over the half, but not strictly "impossible if less" or "possible when more". And it might even work with just 1%. I'm not worried about an attack that happens with only a few blocks. It's the sustained attack that I'm worried about, and the longer that goes, the more likely that the portion of blocks created by the pool will approach their percent of the network. Someone with over 50% of the hashing power WILL eventually be able to overtake the network. The same isn't guaranteed for amounts under 50%. |

I just downloaded the client (0.3.22-beta) and the block download has really slowed down to a trickle.
The first 50,000 dowloaded in a few minutes but now its been 30 minutes for the following 20,000 (around 73,000 blocks now). Still showing 8 connections
Is it because the "newer" blocks are bigger?

Yes, they are much bigger. And by the way, the bottleneck isn't downloading them: it's verifying them. Larger blocks also take longer to verify. |

yep, once the block that contained that transaction is downloaded and read by the client, it will show up in the window.
Make sure you have backed up your wallet.dat file properly as well, put it on a flash drive and store that flash drive in a safe place, you may even want to have it on 2 separate flash drives and check to make sure they are okay make a new backup every 2-4 weeks. buy separate brands to be safer.

There's no real worry. Bitcoin is a pretty liquid market, with good information flows.
Someone with alot of bitcoins is going to spend some of them to analyse the risk. If its truly a risk, he'll spend some more and hire some blackhats to DOS deepbit to ensure his investment is protected. The fact that it hasn't happened yet indicates that those with the most to lose (those doing those top 100 xfers of 200,000 BTCs' at once, not you guys and your original + extra GPU you're using to steal power from your parents with) havent seen it as a major risk.

This information isn't visible to anybody prior to the Dwolla -> MtGox transfer. After that, it is only visible to MagicalTux and his staff until it is put on the exchange. MagicalTux does not use MtGox, and I suspect the same rule is in effect for his staff.

Since it takes days and days for money to flow through Dwolla is there anyway to determine how much is in the pipe? This would be highly valuable information to have.  If it's coming into Dwolla via your bank, you can see it in the Pending tab after you login to Dwolla. If it's coming from MtGox, well... Just look at your account history and do some accounting. |

What happens if you put the same bitcoin wallet on 2 computers? Nothing special. You'll just have access to your balance on 2 computers for the next 100ish transactions. However, please don't do this right now. The software currently doesn't detect this, so if you spend Bitcoins on one computer and immediately spend them somewhere else on the other, your wallet will become corrupted, and we'll have to walk you through fixing it. What happens if i delete my wallet and get a payment? If i restore the wallet from a back up such as a USB will i get all the payments that came after it was original lost.
Yes. Your backed-up wallet will check for new transactions once it is restored. Be sure to make a new backup every 100ish transactions, since you only have 100 extra keys at a time in a wallet. Yes I wonder this too.

Will a new wallet be created? Bitcoins are not sent to a computer - they are sent to addresses. They can only be accessed by the wallet that has the private key for the address. Will my backedup bitcoins be gone if I restore the old wallet (on another computer?).

No, as long as the wallet contained the keys for the addresses the bitcoins were sent to and they weren't already spent. |

I sent 0.2 btc, but the internet was down. Now it's stuck at 0 confirmations for over 20 minutes now. Is there any way to force another broadcast of the transactions?
It will be automatically rebroadcast. However, you may have to wait until you've updated your blockchain and have a few connections. Edit: bah, looks like it will only do that after a few days. Try restarting the client. |
