2901  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost a Bitcoin? I found one. on: June 15, 2011, 06:11:19 PM
This is just a guess.  What do you think?  I'm all for squashing bugs when it comes to our money!
You were running 0.3.23, right?
2902  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My first transaction on: June 15, 2011, 09:13:19 AM
Spend it wisely.

And no, I don't want other people PMing me asking for Bitcoins.
2903  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mybitcoin.com is down on: June 15, 2011, 09:10:29 AM
Probably for good, since nobody was actually managing it.

So whats the best online wallet to use besides Instawallet?
Seems odd, but... MtGox.

2905  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Why don't pools pay out the full BTC amount? on: June 15, 2011, 08:45:44 AM
The only pool I've used that pays out the full amount of BTC is Swepool. Other pools like Deepbit will only pay out a portion.

For example, if you had 1.79658246 in your Slush balance, you would only receive 1.79 BTC. Only Swepool pays out the full amount so that your remaining balance is 0 BTC.

Because anyone using the default wallet will lose out on the change, as it doesn't take sub-cents.
This. Not everyone has upgraded, and it would suck to lose up to 20 cents for no good reason.
2906  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: FREE BitCoin ! Sign Up At BitCoin7.. on: June 15, 2011, 08:25:49 AM
Damn, I wish I would have thought of this back when TradeHill was new! Good job on the referral scam.
2907  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Collate v0.1: Bring your wallets together. on: June 15, 2011, 07:55:28 AM
Quite impressive. I did a quick skim of the code and it looks clean enough. It's nice to have another frontend for the bitcoin client, especially since I can see my balance change as I browse!
2908  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Predictions after tomorrow's difficulty increase? on: June 15, 2011, 04:37:42 AM
I predict.... no change at all.
2909  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Block download frozen on: June 15, 2011, 04:32:00 AM
Actually, if you're using the new version, start it with -dnsseed
2910  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: An odd number of bitcoins "Generated"? on: June 15, 2011, 03:04:52 AM
I was on Eligius indeed. But isn't their payout at 1.0 btc? And it didn't even show up in the "Received" tab. Im unsure how it could be from Eligius but not be a received transaction! Please help me understand
This is how they pay out. Also, if you don't mine on them for awhile, they'll just pay you regardless of how little you've made.
2911  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: An odd number of bitcoins "Generated"? on: June 15, 2011, 02:56:03 AM
It sounds like you tried Eligius at one point.
2912  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Invite to Bitcoinmarket on: June 15, 2011, 02:03:03 AM
Tradehill has fewer fees and with this link you can get 10% off the fees for life.

They already have over 12,000 users?!? Wow!
2913  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking for a tiny Bitcoin Donation to test... will pay it forward! on: June 15, 2011, 01:35:15 AM
Someone sent me another .01 btc.

Thought I saw your post, then it disappeared.  I believe you wanted me to return back?

Could you repost your address and I will send.

Oh, sorry. That was mikel123. I had to delete his posts because of another thread.

Edit: His post didn't have a return address, so you'll have to PM him.
2914  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I'll Post in the other Forums for you Noobs :) on: June 15, 2011, 01:29:28 AM
For our sake, please use good discretion.
2915  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [ N00b Question of the Day] What happens if I send BTC to someone and ... on: June 15, 2011, 01:17:19 AM
their wallet is stolen , erased or removed does the transaction tell me so ?

Thanks! Grin
Nope. The transaction will go through like any other. If the wallet was lost, the coins will never be able to be claimed.
2916  Other / Meta / Re: Let the Newbies back in? on: June 15, 2011, 01:08:03 AM
The issue with people not speaking English is a valid one, though ... maybe new people should be allowed into those forums ... and people posting English in those forums be banned after second warning ;-)
The local forums are exempt from the restrictions.

Honestly, the Newbie forums have been a very positive change for the forum. The newb posts outside of that forum have dropped to levels we haven't seen in weeks, and the newbies are actually getting the help they need instead of being chastised by the old forum members.

Don't have 4 hours to kill and you want to announce the launch of a new Bitcoin business? We'll whitelist you. Personally, I've been whitelisting around 20 people per day.

The system works.

we still have issues like bitcoin7.com not being able to reach the proper audience and so he had to wait for 2 hours until i got his PM to post his new exchange site. I have posted the new exchange in general now though, hopefully he will be permitted to post so he can talk about it himself.
Huh? I whitelisted him a few hours ago. He can post it himself...

I'll leave this as a reminder to be careful downloading programs.

2919  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Dwolla? on: June 14, 2011, 09:36:39 PM
Dwolla seems to be a good service but they are really REALLY slow.

I deposited money on the 7th and it did not arrive until the 13th.  Plus it takes days to verify an account, and they don't work on weekends, which is kind of outrageous.

That's only 6 days, what's the big dealo?

You know it would be cool if Dwolla had the option of rush processing to get your transfer done faster but for a higher fee (maybe $1 instead of $0.25) that would be neat.
The only way to do it would be by extending a line of credit, and that causes a whole bunch of other issues.
2920  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions on: June 14, 2011, 09:31:11 PM
EDIT: It works now!  Either it is >5 (i.e., six) posts required, or there's a wee lag.  Let the trolling begin!  Cheesy
There's a slight lag.
