Just bought my first BitCoin! Unfortunately I am having the same problem I ran the lines in terminal, but I don't have the IP for the other computer to add, since I am getting the BitCoins from BitMarket.eu I had about 3 connections before I closed BitCoin and have 3 right now a few minutes after running it. It was sent from the BitMarket address to my personal address 40 minutes ago and BitMarket claims the transaction has been confirmed. Still hasn't showed up in BitCoin. Thoughts?
Try some other fallback nodes

Lookie here random people. If there's an issue with deepbit gaining more than 50% of the hash power and controlling the network, not now, not deepbit specifically, but just in case sometime someone does that, better to find out sooner if bitocin is doomed to fail The 51% rule was tested on the testnet. It literally wiped out a whole week's worth of testnet coins, and it undid any transaction that involved those coins. It's disastrous... no mainnet testing needed.

Via IRC: <MT`AwAy> MtGox info: changed limits on bitcoin withdraws, you can now contact me ( admin@mtgox.com) to have your own limit set for your account. IF YOU DO THAT please include YOUR ACCOUNT USER NAME and the amount you want per day (need caps there or people will not do it)

Wow... Now THIS is a competitor!
Edit: shameless ref code plug: TH-R171

You do realize that if anything ever happened with deepbit everyone would switch and/or solo mine and the BTC would stabilize?
Really? Based on what the DDoS showed, people wouldn't most likely notice for a few weeks...

It appears that transaction isn't being broadcast to the network. Let's get you some more connections. First, quit out of Bitcoin on the Mac. Then open Terminal and enter these commands: Bitcoin.app/contents/macos/bitcoin -addnode=69.164.218.197 -addnode=64.22.103.150 -addnode=173.242.112.53 -addnode=178.79.147.99 -addnode=184.106.111.41 -addnode=91.85.220.84 -addnode=173.224.125.222 -addnode=86.5.50.90 Ok, with this and DataSpree on otc's help (who suggested putting the windows machine ip address as one of the addnode things) the transaction has finally shown up on windows. It's unconfirmed still but once it goes through I'll send you both a coin. Thanks. Thanks! I wish I would have had a chance to see your earlier reply, since that would have been my next suggestion. Failing that, I would have had you connect to me directly, since my node is currently underutilized with just 23 connections.

This is awesome, but it's only working on chrome for me. not firefox 4
As I've said about these sites before, they work in Firefox if you override the security block. Set network.websocket.override-security-block to true in about:configDO NOT ENABLE THIS IF YOU ARE BEHIND A PROXY

Hello,
It seems that the "generate bitcoins" button is missing on the Bitcoins 0.3.22 windows version.
This is intentional. That is because specialized mining clients will outproform the built-in client, so you should use those. Additionally, we don't want to give people the false assumption that they will actually ever find a block. See this thread for more info: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=5353.0

Could someone ask the dude nicely to split the pool in two ? Deepbit1 and Deepbit2 ? Same shares system.. he'd still make the same running both pools, but they would 'compete' against each other to keep things the way they are supposed to be. Would that work ?
No. What matters is what he controls, not how large the pool is.

why won't someone ddos deepbit ? if it's so scary
What a terrible and unoriginal idea. Unfortunately, for the sake of the network, we'll have to do this if [Tycho] continues to do nothing. Personally, I suggest that he double the pool's fee. It'd be a win-win for all of us.

Nothing until someone verifies a forged chain. Then its over (well, for now. to appease the long-term visionaries).
If a forged chain is verified wont a good portion of deepbit just move to a different mining pool to protect the security of bitcoin as a whole? Not likely. They don't check the forum... ever.

I like BTC Guild, but the stats showed I was losing money to the idle problems versus deepbit. That's the way it goes. But things change all the time.
Just mine on two pools at the same time. Idle time then means nothing.

Try using a different browser. It's supposed to pop-up with a Bitcoin address.

Dwolla broke the ability to send funds using the API that MtGox was using before.
<casascius> MagicalTux: I have two withdrawals that haven't shown up at Dwolla, are there any known problems <MagicalTux> casascius: yep, dwolla implemented dwolla grid, and it seems they broke sendMoney(), I'm talking with them right now
<Kuroshiro> MagicalTux: how's the dwolla situation/ <MagicalTux> Kuroshiro: dwolla created dwolla grid and it seems that their old api was broken in the process, will implement dwolla grid to be able to send funds
How does this explain transactions that have posted properly before and after the unposted transaction [meaning it didn't arrive at the destination account]? There is no sign that they have implemented Dwolla Grid. Most likely, he's doing them manually right now, and he doesn't want to go too far back to avoid double-paying people. Don't worry, if you emailed him, he'll get to it eventually.
