2701  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to scam THOUSANDS of US$! on: July 11, 2011, 08:34:27 PM
Google "Bitcoin Boom" for the best on how to scam Smiley
HA! Oh how I hated that guy...
2702  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stickys on: July 11, 2011, 08:19:12 PM
If you think it's important enough to be a sticky, PM a mod about it, if one is online.
2703  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What EXACTLY means "longest" chain ? on: July 10, 2011, 08:55:18 PM
Just curious: How is the longest chain picked if there are two chains with an equal amount of proof-of-work?
Exactly as we've already described: the client picks the one it received first.
2704  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: forum.bitcoin thread on: July 10, 2011, 06:36:04 PM
Many things have changed since that post was made, so I'll lock this thread to prevent misconceptions. If you want to complain about our censorship, please make a new thread. Thanks!
2705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blizzard Entertainment & Bitcoins on: July 10, 2011, 05:53:33 AM
As someone more familiar with Blizzard, let me tell you that your message about Bitcoins would NOT have been passed up. Communication between Austin, Texas and Irvine, California is pretty bad. If you want to see this go anywhere, post it on their forums and hope that some CMs see it.

That being said, I bet if I asked, many of my contacts there will have at least heard of Bitcoin.

2707  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thank you Mt Gox: My money is in limbo for a month now on: July 09, 2011, 01:14:52 AM
DO NOT OPEN NEW TICKETS! Replying to the original one is the only way that you'll get an answer. Once you re-open your original ticket, it can take up to a few weeks before they get to it. Is it unacceptable? ABSOLUTELY! But it's what you'll have to deal with until MtGox catches up on their workload.
2708  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: "XXX Pool is a scam!" on: July 08, 2011, 09:07:21 PM
And your complaint is...?

I'm already tired of seeing the scam threads as much as I'm tired of reading the "join my pool" threads.

That's really it tbh.
Then report them. It's hard for us to do something about it if we don't know about it. That said, we will only act on reports where it's clear that someone is just trying to slander a pool or is spamming.
2709  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions on: July 08, 2011, 09:02:27 PM
Maybe another way to be able to post without the full wait times would be by "verification" or sponsorship from an existing member
We will generally whitelist users who are vouched for by reputable members in the whitelist request thread.

2711  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I can't post anywhere :( on: July 08, 2011, 08:27:25 AM
This thread is all kinds of fail. Smiley
That it is. I think that it has overstayed its welcome.
2712  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] should we use more "report to moderator" clicks? on: July 08, 2011, 07:40:39 AM
I'm shocked at the amount of censorship here.
Huh? I've NEVER seen so LITTLE censorship of a moderated forum before. I'm shocked that we haven't devolved into 4chan... The moderators were chosen well.

As a newbie forum moderator, let me add some prospective to this post:
Typically, I end up moderating more posts that I find on my own than reported posts... And I can typically count the number of posts I moderate in a day on one hand. I haven't seen a single report in two days.
2713  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Noob question on mt gox trades... on: July 07, 2011, 06:19:19 AM
I've just started trading; when one of your buy or sell orders is filled on mt gox,  does the site automatically send you an email to let you know?

Thanks in advance!
They used to have this as an option, but it wasn't added to the new version of the site.
2714  Other / Off-topic / Re: I am killing this persona. on: July 07, 2011, 06:15:06 AM
Time for a game of "Guess Who is Atlas!"

The trick is to look for new members with wildly increasing post counts, mostly containing half-baked ideas that are soon discarded.
Sadly, this is the truth. Atlas should have continued using this persona and slowly phased in the new one. But damn, that'd be an identity crisis. I doubt I could do it...

You know who to contact if you want to be whitelisted.  Tongue

2717  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Collate v0.1: Bring your wallets together. on: July 07, 2011, 04:21:11 AM
Would this make my coins "hackable/stealable" by any 0 day chrome/firefox/browser exploits?
Any exploit that could compromise the sandbox could also likely compromise the whole machine.

*sigh* Ask someone to move this back.
2719  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Deepbit taking forever to payout for anybody else? on: July 07, 2011, 12:07:54 AM
*sigh* Looks like Deepbit isn't prioritizing their own payouts again. That said, your transaction appears to have matured enough that it might appear in the next Block.
