29161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Automatic Coin Mixing Idea on: October 29, 2012, 05:52:14 AM
lol a semi good idea for the shady traders. but it has a flaw: a new way to steal coins

step one: call it a mixing service to allow other clients to extract coins from bob, jill, freddy, and daves wallet without those people sending them. and call it "automated" to make it seem like a benefit.
step 2 someone changes the code so that auto accept occurs and when its their turn to be Alice they receive the coins and keeps them instead of replacing them.

great idea.(sarcasm)

personally i dont care for such a feature. but thats maybe because my activities dont need the stealth that silk road users need.

but to whomever makes a client with a code tweak to auto accept transfers. while your at it you might aswell ask all the users of your bright idea for their online bank username and password so that they can make money transfers more efficient.. oh wait coinbase already drummed that idea up..

now put this sham of a project to bed as its going to make clients vulnerable.. atbest make your own little clients but dont try promoting this idea onto the official bitcoin client coders.

if anyone truly wants a mixing service,, just deposit your funds into mtgox, btc-E or any of the reputable exchanges,, wait a few minutes, then withdraw.

high chance the coins will be different..

if you really want to market something of benefit to the community, market bitcoin to actual businesses and expand out of the caldron of 100k regular users that just stir the pot between eachother thinking thats the only way to make wealth.. instead of having narrow minded thoughts about scamming or hiding transactions just to keep the silk road userbase happy.

and now

prepare the onslaught of scamming trolls replies trying to defend this idea purely because they see its scamming benefit it will bring with just a tweak of the sourcecode. pretending to be honorable users who see its honorable benefits.

29162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Real life bitcoin scenario for non-bitcoiners on: October 27, 2012, 01:45:51 AM
Due to a random unpredictable glitch, Adam's hard drive is corrupted.  He loses everything, there is no way to ever get it back.  Bitcoiners tell him this is entirely his fault, then insist that the rest of the world convert to Bitcoin and wonder why everyone is ignoring them.

I know, right. I've spent ten months trying to figure out how to make a copy of a file, yet I still haven't figured it out. Computers suck, I don't understand why anyone would use one. These people suggesting computers simplify your life are out of their mind. They will certainly go they way of the Dodo.

Did someone say I could protect the fifty dollar bills in my wallet so that even if they were destroyed completely I would still have my money? Give that man a Nobel.

aswell as keeping a data backup also write the private keys into a word document and print it out..

29163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Real life bitcoin scenario for non-bitcoiners on: October 27, 2012, 12:24:31 AM
first step is finding a company that accepts loyalty points or foreign currency's instead of just native currency, then ur 99% able to sell them into BTC.

for the rest of the world that only likes native currency. here is wat id try. no mention of cryptography or government power instead its using the loyalty points scenario to make them understand

"so shop owner ur still accepting credit cards i see.. that must be bummer waiting to get reimbursed by the card issuer. i bet your employee's hate the 3-5 day delay in receiving their wages along with all them fees u have to pay for just to use that feeble system.

have u ever considered bitinstant payment system?

wats that

well so far there's 100,000 known regular users of it. and probably millions that arnt so regular. but lets just stick to wat you need to know first.
well they give u a prepayment card to get reimbursed within the hour, and u offer customers ur products for a loyalty point system thingy called bitcoins. the funds show up instantly as a payment is taken. the system is so robust it would take a supercomputer to fake them so don't worry about that from customers walking into ur shop with only a hand full of points in their wallets. but if u do care, the system also has a validation confirmation which takes under an hour. so by the time they have used their super computer to fake them, walked to ur store its already rejected them inside the customers wallet to not allow payment.

the important thing is that you get paid instantly by the customer and still have access to normal money to buy new stock, pay wages or whatever else all in one. and if you are part of a chain of stores you can send them funds instantly too across the world even, in seconds.

its simply electronic cash without the headaches of your credit card issuers. and without the headache of cashing up each evening and needing a security company to walk it over to the bank to deposit

i find it funny when reading these things. flaming and trolling someone who has a business plan like this guy does.

but then investing into people who want to consolidate their debt. basically paying one loan with a loan.

and also people wanting to buy BFL products knowing they wont start making money for months due to the the order/delivery delays.

though this guys plan would benefit the bitcoin community in the UK immensely. i still think that if he doesnt get it running due to no one giving him the loan then someone else should roll with the idea. i said roll not steal this time  Grin
29165  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase Blog - Buy And Sell Bitcoin By Connecting Any U.S. Bank Account on: October 26, 2012, 07:20:51 PM
i have been speaking to a guy in the UK making a payment gateway. the problems found which bitinstant solve are chargebacks and anonymity.

the solution is things like moneygram.

the next gen version which bitinstant is developing and the guy in the UK is is also developing is prepayment cards. whch by paying at shops and post offices like moneygram does, reduces/avoids the chargeback risks and headaches.

where for instance bitinstant holds a prepaid card and gives out its 'refill' loading instructions, the money appears instantly they then do their behind the scenes stuff to give the user the bitcoin.

plus as part of that they give out prepaid cards to people wanting to withdraw and because its all dealt with direct with the same card issuer and direct payment. the fee's are better, money appears within minutes and avoidance of the banks oversight.

i think this way is much better then bank transfers that coin base talks about

just for fun a poem for bitcoin

Bitcoins was invented, to profit without government,
although we span the world, we havn’t yet made a dent.

The benefits outway the risks, which get better everyday.
so come join us in bitcoin. By using bitinstant or bitpay.

Once you get involved, you’ll start to see the potential,
keeping your funds secure and also confidential.

the list grows long of uses, with payments in under a minute.
so move away from FIAT because bitcoin has not limit.

29171  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Find Trendon Shavers in person thread... [BTCST, BTS&T, pirateat40] on: October 25, 2012, 05:11:20 AM
Also if someone could do some blockchain analysis.

It has been stated on these boards previous that addresses assumed to belong to trendon shavers are acutally silk road addresses.

because we didn't know where trendons actual stash was. its hard to tell so we assumed the large stash was trendons. but now we know its not. the blockchain analysis does show that the funds flowed through silk road, as a part of his mixer/ laundering efforts.

the only thing i can think of which just like BTC-E and MTGox does is that he deposits them to silkroad.. which silkroad credits  them as digital database data(members balance). the coins dont just sit there, branded as only belonging to memberXYZ.. silk road uses those funds for other members.. (the mixer) and at withdrawal silk road gives shavers different coins to the value of his member balance

which is standard practice for most services. the coins you put into MTGOX are not the exact coins you will get out, even if you dont trade them.. you are not trading coins you are trading a database balance which represents the coins.

try it yourself deposit into gox then withdrawal, and check the taint of the coins, it will be different. if only silk road would reveal the member name that used that deposit address (one hop) from 1dyk address it would help.

but in a anonymous society dealing with drugs, it wont happen
29172  Economy / Lending / Re: BTCJAM Loan 11.4/20 BTC ID VERIFIED on: October 24, 2012, 11:08:34 AM
lol repay due on 10th but dont get paid till 18th.

why didnt the OP use october 18ths paycheck to buy the laptop without needing a loan
29173  Economy / Lending / Re: BTCJAM Loan 11.4/20 BTC ID VERIFIED on: October 24, 2012, 09:32:58 AM
one thing i do see clear as day. if they can pay in under a month at 20% extra. they should buy a pen and paper use the college library and wait a month. saving them 20%.

actually with BTC to FIAT fees it would be alot more then a 20% loss.

if they cant pay today chances are they cant pay in a month.

plus if its for real world products. they should be requesting real world cash from a parent.
29174  Economy / Lending / Re: LOAN to start a UK payment gateway on: October 24, 2012, 09:18:00 AM
i too dont think mlawrences flame that jackdavis is a hillbilly merits much either.

i just think mlawrence got mad at being called a drug dealer so grabbed at any thread of straw he could.

either way jackdavis concept is good, but it just doesnt seem to be in the right hands.. maybe best someone steal the idea lol

as for the lawyer thing us brits never like to use the term lawyers no matter what level of experience the legal person has.

we prefer to call them what they are:

money grabbing bstards lol
solicitors, advisers. clerks and all the other individual titles
29175  Economy / Lending / Re: Starting up a UK based mining operation (Donation) (Investment) on: October 24, 2012, 08:53:38 AM
ARE YOU SERIOUS?

It costs less than 1 btc for a domain. It costs VERY TINY amounts for shared hosting. IT COSTS NOTHING TO SET UP A BLOG OR FORUM.

Looks like someone who just wants 30 free BTC.

am i missing something? i read the title about a UK mining operation, read the BTCJAM listing for BFL jalapeno's..

but everyone else is talking about web hosting and blogs?? has something been edited?

if something has been edited i hope it was just to add more information. removing information should just look like this
29176  Economy / Lending / Re: LOAN to start a UK payment gateway on: October 24, 2012, 08:30:25 AM
im not endorsing anything. im not investing,

but if he does get the business up and running just using his own funds and becomes a success then i might use him, as the UK needs more bitcoin stuff.

i don't buy into businesses until they have weathered the test of time.

that being said we do need UK bitcoin business and the concept. if you ignore the loan begging has much promise.

maybe someone who is respected the UK should take on the idea and just roll with it themselves either stealing the concept or employing him for a month or two to implement it. hopefully if the business works out he takes my litecoin hint onboard.
29177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can facebook adapt bitcoin? on: October 24, 2012, 07:45:45 AM
ur all forgetting one thing guys. bitcoins bad rep. silk road, fake ID blackmarkets, firearms sales.

real world merchants don't want to touch bitcoin with a barge poll. i myself am concentrating on getting litecoin adopted.

i have found more interest, less negative feedback and less head banging trying to explain litecoin by simply advertising litecoin as the clean version of bitcoin.
29178  Economy / Lending / Re: LOAN to start a UK payment gateway on: October 24, 2012, 07:34:45 AM
dont let the flamers dishearten u, we need an easy to fund bitcoin operator.

if u ever travel near bristol ill meet u, i can smell an american a mile away to know if u are one or not, they have orange tans and hill billy accents.  Grin

i myself am a litecoin lover, ever consider your concept, but on litecoin instead of the dark side of dodgy drug dealing known as bitcoin (newspapers opinion dont shoot the messenger)
29179  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestions Welcome on: October 24, 2012, 02:59:08 AM
pirate is no longer an active member so warning people about him is useless..
29180  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestions Welcome on: October 24, 2012, 02:46:16 AM
from a BTC-E point of view i see no issues with u. but from a forum point of view many of us like to expand our opinions without restraint.

i gave up my INABA BFL flaming weeks ago. i came to the conclusion, although his comments dont hold water. what can my comments do. its not like i can slap him with a wet fish to get a proper answer out of him.

so now i try to think before i speak. and only comment on relevent matters that effect the community not an individuals brainfart of an answer
