1521  Other / Off-topic / Re: What video games do you play? on: September 01, 2013, 12:23:03 AM
Firefall!

I tried a bunch of other games but they failed to keep me occupied. And firefall is still in beta!

It's a free to play game but it gives no tangible advantage to players who do pay which is amazing. It has both PVP and PVE modes and both are awesome!

It doesn't have a campaign yet but it's going to be more interesting than any other game. You will be able to lose part of the world for weeks or months and each place in the world will have uniqueness and
certain advantages. It is most definitely worth checking out and getting a little used to it before the beta is over and we get the finished game.

It's a little boring since there isn't that much content yet.

If I had a good PC I'd try crysis 2.

I love Command and Conquer Kane's wrath. I also love Age of Empires III and Age of Mythology.

The moment I looked upon this thread my bank account balance tripled and my dick grew 4 extra inches.

Thank you so much.

Nah! This is a total waste of time.
1523  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Satoshi proposed a gentlemans agreement to postpone GPU mining (2009) on: September 01, 2013, 12:03:49 AM
Just to get a piece of the bitcoin pie I had to get a 30 GH/s bitcoin miner. I waited for nearly a year to receive it 10 months.

I looked at the thing as an investment against my bank. My bank gave me 1 cent a month. bitcoin is almost sure to be more profitable. I really don't like the amount of ASICS that are being deployed. I really doubt anyone will keep mining when there is another drop in the bitcoin reward.

To tie such amounts of money in mining equipment is ridiculous.

Let's think of the amount of damage is being done in the name of Bitcoin to make all these cheap factory made chips.
The amount of electricity being wasted to keep the network hashing at an insane pace.

If only we weren't so damn greedy. And as I'm talking I'm using 120 watts 24/7 just to mine. I'm legitimately hurting the environment in which we all live in. And what for? A tiny little return on investment.

Then again I can buy myself a Bitcoin miner shirt from BitPride and pat myself on the back.
When does bitcoin miner turn to bitcoin traitor. I don't know. We (the miners) have essentially blocked 99% of humanity from having the ability to mine bitcoin.

Of course there is LTC and other cryptos but those pale in comparison compared to bitcoin and the mere fact that there are other crypto-currencies doesn't mean we should just demolish bitcoin to go to another currency.

1524  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] Bitcoin Pride - Bitcoin Shirts on: August 31, 2013, 11:01:28 PM
OK, I'm just brainstorming here. What about a shirt that changes monthly and has an issue number like a comic book?

In this shirt you get the most important  or relevant bitcoin news story turned into a beautiful piece of art (on the shirt) and it gets changed every 15th day of the month....

For example a recent shirt could have a German theme to it, and something close to: Germany recognizes Bitcoin.

The shirt could also have the price of bitcoin somewhere and other details that stay in the same place in its layout.

The shirt could also be the most inexpensive/standard shirt in the catalogue making people want to buy and keep buying it.

This may go a long way in building a customer base with people buying the monthly shirt in a row getting a small discount.

What is the thread in which you're selling Bitcoin Pride shirts in the forums? PM?
I may just buy my first bitcoin shirt in the next few days.  Grin

Off Topic:

There are many great products to be made in the BTC world such as a physical wallet (comes with most of the blockchain, enough memory and a way to sync from a wireless connection from a nearby cellphone or Wireless network (or connecting with its very own SIM card) Benefits of a physical wallet (extra security, maybe standardized offline backups through a usb port and automatic backup option)

An Electronic vehicle charging station that accepts bitcoin. (It probably already exists by the time you're reading this (or even before I typed it))

A file hosting service with quick download speeds that charges in Satoshis (0.0000001 BTC)

A jukebox in a cafe/ restaurant that takes Bitcoins.

A vending machine that vends money for bitcoins that vends bitcoins and money. People would be able to put in USD or BTC. (in a local business)

An electronic rechargeable coin that stores bitcoin safely offline (For storing large amounts of bitcoin offline safely).

(The first and last device in this list would work together really well, the last device would require far less memory and capability)

I can edit that last part out if this is too off-topic.
1525  Economy / Securities / Re: Lab Rat Data Processing, LLC (LabRatMining) Official Announcement on: August 31, 2013, 09:16:16 PM
I can't help but think that this mining operation is slightly overpriced.

If every share cost reaches an estimated .25 BTC at 1 Million shares it would cost 250,000 BTC that is more than 1% of the total BTC that will ever be in existence!

I do doubt that any one person could sell all the shares at once and it is uncertain what the price of the stock will be or the number of stocks that will be issued but we're talking about a whole lot of BTC here.

I'm a latecomer to crypto-currencies I've only been active since Fall 2012 so I wonder what people think about this.

I have 6 shares of LabRatMining (I like this BTC farm)

For POS do you have to keep your client operating 24/7? What if you miss a day? Do you lose 1 day worth of POS rewards?

If you were to close the coin client to say, play a game or do college classes would you lose the POS?
1527  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] Bitcoin Pride - Bitcoin Shirts on: August 31, 2013, 01:02:12 AM
I suggest making a few new minimalist and inexpensive designs and marketing them as such. Getting the message out about bitcoin is important and if the shirts are so expensive Bitcoin pride may lose a lot of potential customers.

I don't have any good suggestions for marketing in mind.

Just my 2 satoshis.
I agree, minimalist white tees are some of our best sellers. We are currently having issues with our ebay account, as we had several charge-backs from the Bitcoin USB orders. Doing my best to get that back up, in the mean time the sites doing ok, but we definitely need to do more on the marketing.

Fight every chargeback you get. You shipped physical. They didn't pay. End of story.
Good luck!

If only they paid in BTC...
1528  Other / Off-topic / Bitcoin group in Tarpon Springs, Florida on: August 30, 2013, 10:12:35 PM
I want to start a Crypto-currency group here in Tarpon Springs, FL but there isn't almost any people that know of BTC or any other crypto's.

Anyone local interested?

It would be awesome if flash games accepted zetacoin! The fast confirmation and absolutely ridiculously cheap price may help.

Or I would be willing to pay around 200 Million zetacoin for a prostitute (where it's legal) Just kidding.
1530  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ZET] Zetacoin - SHA256 coin - Pools up - Quick confirmations on: August 30, 2013, 02:51:04 AM
But what appened to the next halves??? When it pass from 500 to 250 and to 250 to 125 people will sell or buy?

How many zetacoins are currently in existence?

Is the calculation 1000*80000 + ~26000*500 = 80000000+13000000 or 93000000 zetacoins in existence?

By the way that would be around 93 Million of the first year's 160? Million zetacoins mined.

Further halving cannot have that much of an impact in supply therefore unless there is overwhelming demand (something highly doubtful ) there won't be a significant change in the price.

Hell I'll give 10 zetacoins to anyone who PMs and asks me for them by tomorrow.
1531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ZET] Zetacoin - SHA256 coin - Pools up - Quick confirmations on: August 30, 2013, 02:32:28 AM
The zeta to bit coin ratio will be around 1 BTC to 10 ZET for the longest time.
I hope zeta or something similar becomes the default for quick transactions.
I hate waiting!

I like the quick confirmation system.

I'll send 1 zetacoin to anyone who wants 1. (provided I see the PM post)

What about zeta coin?

Is it too new to be on this list or what?
1534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTS] 600K+ ZetaCoin on: August 29, 2013, 09:56:51 PM
I thought the reward hadn't halved yet :-(

I'm mining with a BFL little single since I want to have a diverse portfolio. I could have mined just before the block halving but didn't.

I wasn't crawling too much on the web and missed this.

I like zeta because of the faster confirmations (if they work)

I hope it succeeds but who knows it might just fail.

We won't know much until later.

This pool doesn't pay out a thing. I'm mining with at 30 GH/s and it says N/A.....

I have a screencap should I post it here?

EDIT: The problem has been resolved!

I can't point my 30Gh/s miner to a zeta pool but I'm more than happy to buy a few hundred thousand. Is there a way to make easyminer (with the bfg miner kernel) work with a zeta coin pool through the manual option or do I have to actually set up cgi miner?

1538  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: btcfpga vs bfl labs on: October 24, 2012, 01:12:12 PM
That is the data I used to make my choice:

BFL labs:                          Little Single: 21.64 Dollars per Gigahash         BitForce 'Little' Single SC  30 Gh/s - $649|                 649/30=21.6333333333
bASIC:                              27Gh/s bASIC 22.22 Dollars per Gigahash       27Gh/s bASIC NextGen Bitcoin Miner $599.99|         599.99/27= 22.2218518519

Also it is worthy to mention that the      54Gh/s bASIC is the best on the market at 19.8146296296 per Gigahash

I personally bought a Little Single because of the possibility of earlier delivery and its superiority to the 27 bASIC, If I had a Bigger Budget (If I wanted to take a higher risk) the 54Gh/s bASIC would be best.

Feel free to dispute me if I'm wrong.
1539  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Butterfly Labs CEO 25 Million USD Mail Fraud — A Concise Summary of Evidence on: October 13, 2012, 04:39:20 PM
From the BFL website.

Quote
Can I get a refund on my pre-order?
Butterfly Labs, INC. is accepting pre-orders for ASIC based products, expected to begin shipping in late October or early November 2012. Your pre-order with payment confirms your place in line for delivery once we begin shipping. Payments made for pre-orders of ASIC based products now under development should be considered non-refundable until products begin shipping or 1 January 2013, whichever is earlier.

So the "products" may not ship until January 2013? Man, if they loan that money out on 3-6% loans that would be very profitable if they didn't have to invest in themselves. Now presuming they have to invest to themselves that company seems to be a very dangerous company to invest your money into. I suggest that you do not give them more than $1000 because that money will be locked into them for a loooong time. Simply investing in bitcoin and then buying from a competitor with bitcoin might be far more profitable. Of course I believe that mining shouldn't be for profit only... This applies to all of those ROI people. Off Topic Warning! If you have extra money to invest buy silver, 3 years down the road (that's about when your investment in silver would mature) you can make a good 30% extra from what you invested in buying physical silver. At that point you can either liquidate your assets and maybe get a house or car or boat or food or whatever really. Say you invest BTC10,000 Today, in 3 years you may have (and mind you I said may and not will) BTC13,000.

Now back on topic. It is up to you whether you can trust a team consisting of 22 people with one known scammer among them with your money. If you're looking with something with a good ROI you have to work with more responsive people than BFL. If you're looking for the next in mining gear and they deliver then this might be good for the Bitcoin Network.

Something else you have to know about pre-ordering. Due to inflation, the money that you have given for your product, will not, in any condition be the same money if refunded 1-month later, that is excluding opportunity costs, with today's money, you could buy more of tomorrow's money. With all of those pre-orders you better hope that BFL doesn't use that money to speculate on the market or follow its own agenda to fund anything they like.

I wish I had 30 tetradrachms!  This is my favorite coin in history. I'm an Athenian and I have been inside the very mine those were produced! I wish I had one! Those coins were (in my opinion) the best silver coins of the ancient world. If anyone could give me the 330 BTC I need to buy one, I would appreciate it! 30 of these half ounce coins were given to Judas to betray Christ and even though I'm an atheist I find that number to be the one where you have a significant amount of silver. Imagine the implication of holding 30 tetradrachms in your hands.
