681  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Excuses on: August 09, 2018, 01:59:13 PM
Yes, I have gambled with another person's money!

That money given willingly to me, so I can have fun. I got $100 dollars.... Played blackjack, received massages from a very interesting and skilled masseuse who liked her job.

Lost no money... Pocketed the $100 and went home.

But no, I haven't gambled with money I owe. I can see why the simple minded may be tempted to gamble in order to solve their problems. Just the fact they have enough money to gamble away is what gets me. If you are in need of money you shouldn't gamble.

End of story.
682  Economy / Economics / Re: Global financial crisis on: August 09, 2018, 01:52:07 PM
There will be a new financial crisis and it's going to be soon. In less than 10 years soon. The housing bubble of 2009 is going to repeat, as can be seen from house prices.

Also there is a car loan bubble.

So we're in double trouble!

Put your money on Bitcoin on the double.

And then there is the incoming realization that climate change has irreparably lowered our future ability to produce food on planet earth. This will be self-evident to everyone in a couple of years. At this point, most climate change deniers will act as if they knew climate change was real all along.

These 2 things happening simultaneously (financial & ecological crises) will not be good for any of us. But bitcoin, if it can scale and become more private (lightning network & CoinJoin) will be awesome to hold.

Alternatively if the lightning network isn't ready, bitcoin could go from the moon right back down to earth and in spectacular fashion.
683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any good projects this year? on: August 08, 2018, 10:31:29 PM
Syscoin is at an all time low, so it's the best time to grab a masternode if you can.

Syscoin has one of the strongest altcoin teams behind it and the price is at historical lows (although this applies to a lot of the market now).

The product of syscoin is a decentralized marketplace and the ability to send money from and too aliases rather than addresses (which makes it more usable to humans.

Z-Dag allows for near instant transactions secured by Masternodes.

Masternodes can be very profitable, but they don't have a ridiculous, seemingly unsustainable ROI like some other coins. Just 11%.

BlockchainFoundry (the people behind syscoin) are a publicly traded company in Canada, so you know they are legit.
684  Other / Meta / Re: [LOG] The ranked up members - Congratulations! on: August 08, 2018, 10:05:06 PM
I'll try to make top 100 on that list. (Earn enough merit to get to Legendary).

I think the merit system is great, I kind of wish that all people had to start with 0 merit though, I don't see why I deserved 500 merits just for being a hero member already.
685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Government backed, regulated gambling is more predatory than Crypto Gambling on: August 08, 2018, 07:38:07 PM
What you say is true, but when has that ever stopped the government, or any industry for that matter? Fast food, alcohol, video games, (in some countries) smoking, are all advertised in a predatory way. The organizations behind these products do not care at all about individuals, their health, or potential financial problems. All they care about is getting your to part with your money.

Yes, but the problem is that the government is sponsoring it. We have to hold the government to a higher standard because it is supposed to represent the interests of the people.

Private corporations are supposed to have a fiduciary obligation to their shareholders and their job is to carefully walk the line between what is allowed and not allowed.

The government is supposed to be painting that line, so when they create and advertise their gambling products they get a lot more leeway.

It's like John Oliver said towards the end of his segment from 2014. (watch 20 seconds from the timestamp) https://youtu.be/9PK-netuhHA?t=13m53s .
686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Government backed, regulated gambling is more predatory than Crypto Gambling on: August 08, 2018, 06:58:42 PM
I have watched a lot of bitcoin gambling sites come and go.

The first I was aware of was satoshi dice. An awesome site that allowed you to gamble right on the blockchain (which was discouraged by a lot of people in the community).

At some point in time, satoshi dice stopped allowing US Players (I'm sure it can be circumvented with a VPN).

The government effectively scared them away from their completely legitimate business.

Then there was another site where you could bet on the outcome of any event. Anyone could create a bet and anyone could bet on it.

It's great to have the ability to win a bet because you were right. I'd love to bet against anyone that bitcoin will again surpass it's ATH in the following 5 years especially during today's crashing CryptoCurrency market.

That site too, disappeared and it would further be impossible to legally run in the US, or extremely difficult.

And yet the government backed, sponsored and advertised gambling has a much larger scale, and it's much more predatory.

Government backed gambling is also morally bankrupt, as its advertised as a charity, but the money gets shuffled around and effectively no new money goes to the supported cause.

Here is an excellent starter video on the topic of the lottery in the US: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PK-netuhHA (I don't agree with all of John Oliver's points, but you'll get an idea).

And there are infinite more cases of people addicted to the lottery, notably, Elliot Rodger https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrGrp4ZYrjg

689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SYS] SYSCOIN [Unofficial] - Due to censorship & secrecy on Official thread. on: August 05, 2018, 11:19:11 AM
Ironically iconfirm has been deleting posts on his (zomg I can't spam? Must be cersnorhsip!) thread.

So I've archived it on archive.org.

In most forums your behavior would result in a perma ban.
690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚒ Syscoin-Blockmarket 3.0-World 1st Decentralized Marketplace/Masternodes/Assets on: August 05, 2018, 10:30:53 AM

I don't really see why SYS price keeps devaluating then... I have been reading only good news and evolutions in the last 12 months, yet it has gone down almost 25% in hardly 2 weeks of time.

Right now, we just see the real value of a non working project...

- Blockmarket looks ugly. Blockmarket Web delayed until N E X T year!!!
- Sys network not working properly. Stuck transactions.
- People lose trust, because most of the devs seem into Blockchain Foundry now and not deleloping Syscoin (maybe reason for delays?)
- No roadmap at ALL!!!
- Website not getting updated and no one is interested in updating it (it seems, because it's like that since a long time)

Please come to https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4748031.0 as this post might be deleted soon

This is one of the best projects around.

I doubt this post will be deleted, unless you delete it yourself.

-Blockmarket doesn't look perfect but it's far from ugly.
-I've completed a lot of syscoin transactions lately with no problem, maybe this issue is very recent (last 48 hours?)
-Blockchain Foundry has a vested interest in Syscoin and they seem to me like they are doing a good job
-There is no need for a roadmap, the team has stated they are working on pangolin and then blockmarket web, this don't always go according to plan
Just like GRRM doesn't publish rubbish books to meet deadlines BCF is not publishing junk software just to meet a "roadmap".

Adding a bunch of arbitrary deadlines doesn't make a product better, it only gives the team more stress. I don't want that for the people that are working the hardest in this industry.

-The website is fine. Sure it could have a working SSL certificate but since you're not putting your credit card on that site, it doesn't really matter, it would just be optics.

And finally you don't need to create another thread, if you suspect censorship, just go to archive.org and save this URL and the URL of your posts in the wayback machine.

They'll be there forever.
691  Economy / Speculation / Re: When Will the Bear Market End? on: August 05, 2018, 10:01:59 AM
It's funny how we used to dream and plan for $1000 dollars per bitcoin. now we have more than 5 times that and we sit around and talk about how we're in a bear market.

Everyone assumes that we've lost money on bitcoin. I'm sorry to say but as far as I'm concerned bitcoin is doing very well.
692  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Hash Rate on All-Time High, What does it Mean for BTC Price? on: August 05, 2018, 09:18:54 AM
If more people are devoting resources to getting their hands on bitcoin, that means we have a lot of bullish miners.

It's positive for bitcoin price. If people are willing to spend their electricity and their hard earned money on miners, they probably won't sell below market price when they get their coins.

693  Other / Serious discussion / Re: The world's first mining TV on: August 05, 2018, 09:15:14 AM
Well it looks as if my prophesy of mining decentralisation is starting to come true, Canaan has introduced the world's first mining TV.
https://bitcoinist.com/worlds-first-bitcoin-mining-tv-canaan/

That's Great. Now, all we need is bitcoin mining sex robots.

I'm asking... for a friend.
694  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Is the BCH (fake Bitcoin) Bitcoin Cash wallet free of viruses? on: August 01, 2018, 02:50:21 PM
Which one?

Electron Cash and Bitcoin ABC (full node) are safe.

I was thinking about Bitcoin.com wallet which is SPV. I only want to import a private key and exchange for something else.

Apparently the bitcoin.com wallet doesn't have import private key functionality. So I might try Bitcoin ABC
695  Other / Serious discussion / Is the BCH (fake Bitcoin) Bitcoin Cash wallet free of viruses? on: August 01, 2018, 02:17:33 PM
I'd like to claim my fake Bitcoin, but I'm not sure I want to run the client in my computer.

Do you think it is safe?
696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BITCOIN ADULT(BTAD) - [MN/POS] Blockchain solution for Adult Entertainment on: August 01, 2018, 10:12:46 AM
How would you mine BTAD?

Also, why do all this work and then come around to cheapen bitcoin's name?

Just change the name to something original!

Why not ADLT... Adult Token?
697  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin community does not make sense on: August 01, 2018, 05:42:25 AM
The government is supposed to represent the people.

So if "we the people" can steer the government into allowing us to do our own thing with bitcoin, that in itself is a noble goal.

Unfortunately, the government seems to support the moneyed interests and parasites, over the will of the people (United States).

Tangent follows:
Think of the case of Ajit Pai and Net Neutrality....

Long story short, the government, under Ajit Pai, refused to do what 80+% of the population wanted while lying throughout the process.

Companies like AT&T and Brighthouse Networks and big ISPs in the US, would absolutely love to charge us piecemeal just to access different websites. They are not content just to do what their job entails (serving data), they want to change the business model, against the path of progress, to what it was in the days of cable and piece by piece phone service.

If it where up to them, we'd still have to pay 10 cents per SMS message.
Tangent ends.

Yes, we can go against our corrupt government using bitcoin, and we may even win in the long term. We might need to invent our own mesh network, have our own nodes over Radio and hidden wires. It might even turn into a huge cat and mouse game with the government vs the people. But the government cannot maintain that forever.

At some point they will be held accountable, whether that means getting voted out of office, or worse.

Or we could all just be thrown in jail for "tax evasion" after the bank lobby passes the Cryptocurrencies are criminal tools ACT of 2020.
698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The coins we despise on: July 30, 2018, 04:23:00 PM
I hate ripple. I talked to someone at work about bitcoin and he says he has $1000 dollars in cryptos. He then says he has some Ripple.

I told him to dump it.
He said that Ripple is good because it's what the banks use!

And then we wonder why the market is not rational. Banks are the ones who expand the money supply to where it is and then they set up shop and rob people at every transaction.

Bitcoin is about taking power back from the banks and the government to the individual.

No hidden inflation tax, no fractional reserve banking. No debt based currency.

699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Becoming the New Market Hedge? on: July 30, 2018, 04:15:26 PM
With the recent up move in price, there are some analysts that feel that BTC could become the new asset of choice for hedging. BTC holds all of the right characteristics of a hedging asset. If BTC could become the choice of hedgers the valuation potential is staggering.

https://forexmarketslive.com/is-bitcoin-becoming-the-new-market-hedge/

Bitcoin still has a bit of relatively high inflation to burn through... After the next halving occurs however inflation will finally drop to a low percentage.

So I think bitcoin will be a good hedge against the dollar in about 2 years.
700  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: The buttcoin reddit on: July 29, 2018, 05:16:52 AM
Lol I liked this buttcoin

The underlying message of this "meme" is bullshit.

And to top it off, it's not even funny.

I don't care about institutional money, our whole business is cutting out these rent-seeking, monopoly forming useless institutions.

In fact I hope they never get to buy one cent of bitcoin before mass adoption.

I want them left out to the extent that their purchase power is so low, that they never enter the market and slowly die away.

Edit:

Ironically the biggest joke on the buttcoin subreddit are the posters themselves.

Their last project is trying to make a nocoiner coin to make fun of cryptocurrency.

Their entire intellectual capacity is not enough to launch an altcoin. These people never understood computer code. They are all pseudo intellectuals and their arguments are usually not worth as much as a copper plated zinc penny that is covered in dog turds inside a dirty sewer grate.
