501  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Setting up 2 antminer s7's in apartment on: December 15, 2017, 03:30:34 AM
S7s are easy to make quiet, but you have to lower their clock and fans to do it.  I UC'd my S7 to about 4 THs total, and set the fans manually so I got good temps and a slightly quieter miner that in a spare room running was tolerable. Changing the fans from stock also helped.
YMMV, good luck and Mine On!  Cool
502  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [25+PH] KanoPool kano.is NO FEE TIL 2018 PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,NL,NYA 🐈 on: December 15, 2017, 01:30:29 AM
On another note kano, on the invalid screen for workers, I understand what all of the acronyms but the "Hi" I don't know....I only get that on my S7 which isn't perfectly set up.

Anyone else can answer too.

Stale, Duplidate "Hi" Rejected.
Difficulty has 2 ways to look at it.

The Network Difficulty value increases as it gets harder to find a block.
However, that is to simplify what it really is, and make it easier for people to understand it.

A block hash (498508) looks like this:
0000 0000 0000 0000 001c711eaa8898f83d737d5941a1c13a3bc0822a84906f0e
The required difficulty is 0x1800b0ed = 1,590,896,927,258.1 = 1.59*10^12

Out first ever block (325306) looks like this:
0000 0000 0000 0000 0c061098cb88b86cd48b9e7a6644c4ec26af471dcc779be4
It has fewer zeros, thus it is a larger number
The network difficulty was 0x181f6973 = 3,500,2482,026.1 = 3.50*10^9
A much smaller number, yet the block hash is a larger number.

So what all this means is, if you return a share with a difficulty that isn't good enough, it's actually "High" not "Low"
So under "Invalids" it says "Hi" - these are shares that should not have been sent since they didn't meet the difficulty requirements.
Although their difficulty 'number' was below the difficulty required by the pool, their difficulty value was "High".
e.g. if the pool says to send share with difficulty 8192 but you send lots of shares with difficulty 512, they will of course be rejected, but in the stats, listed under "Hi"
And THAT'S why so many of us kanopool faithful mine here with no thoughts of leaving. You are our sensei, kanosan.  Smiley
Mine on!  Cool
503  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 PSU in USA dilemma on: December 15, 2017, 01:07:55 AM
Also keep in mind when you over-spec your psu's, which I do, you tend to hit the sweet spot efficiency-wise between 60% and 75% depending on manufacturer. Hence my decision to use 2 750W thermaltakes for running my 900W R4.  Wink
Mine on!  Cool
504  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Is there a way to keep the transaction fees? on: December 15, 2017, 01:02:44 AM
Hi Folks...Has anyone figured out an easy way to keep the transaction fees and not pay 4% to antpool?
<snip...>
Easy, don't mine on antpoo.  And as kano points out, txn fees are quite a bit above 4%, which is all the dwarfers made in "back to reality", but that's a different story.  Wink
I get the txn fees by mining on kanopool, have done since day one.   Cool

Since it doesn't mine bitcoin directly, and this is the bitcoin only section, I'd say no we're not worried about it at all.

You have to set up an account and mine to that if you want to see reward stats.

Known as the public key, or receive address. Should be easy to see.
Never give out your private key, ever. EVER. EVER EVER!

513  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 PSU in USA dilemma on: December 12, 2017, 01:57:13 AM
For that price, buy 3 at 750W each and run like that.  Power a board each, with one running the controller/fans which is peanuts compared to the boards.
I run multiple, cheaper PSUs on my miner here at home.  Think RAID, but for PSUs!
Mine On!  Cool

517  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: New Antminer S9 - HW & Temp quastions on: December 11, 2017, 04:46:38 PM
Your percentage of HW errors is only 0.0002% so there's no worries here.  One of my boards gives much more HW errors than the others, the total overall is what matters and you're fine!
Mine ON!  Cool
