1061  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: April 25, 2017, 02:01:38 PM
If you can deal with the extra noise and extra electricity cost, I would go with the T9.
The sick R4 is in a DC with my S9 so noise isn't an issue in this case.  Just another expensive shipping payment and then mining delay, what fun!!

Sorry I smoked a lot of weed today. I don't get it I prolly shouldn't even be mining i'm surprised I even got that baby up and running lol  Grin
Say NO to drugs!  Here at Kano we try to stay sober!  Well at least until Friday!  Haha  Grin
It's five o'clock somewhere, bunkies...  Kiss
I like how you think, Elaine. Cheers!!
Now to keep this ot, you all see how we've passed a 700% diff block on the network? As Chong would say, "Far out!"
1063  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: April 25, 2017, 03:57:16 AM
Well my faulty R4 is now fixed and on the way back to my place. Fedex has it in Cologne (Germany) at the moment.
No details about what was repaired though.

At least they fixed your R4. They sent back a broken R4 that would not hash. I resent it back for repair and now they said they can't replace it because they don't have any more R4 units. They want me to pay some BTC to get as a replacement a T9. It's faster but also louder. Terrible customer service.

Try to get a swap without additional payment. The R4 are doomed.
After a second failure of one of the hash boards (with requisite cost of sending R4 out once for repair already) I have been offered the swap of R4 for T9 if I send it back again on my dime.  Yes, I already asked to have shipping back paid but to no avail.  Not sure how to proceed with this... on the one hand I like the efficiency of my R4 which is unmatched. But it's very flaky and unreliable operating history is rather lame.
Thoughts?
1064  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [BETA] ckpool.org 0.5% fee SPLNS segwit mining pool on: April 24, 2017, 11:58:13 PM
Pool's currently at 12.5% diff on this first block so there's still plenty of time to capitalise on a potentially lucky block.
Well hell, I can't resist a bargain and I love cool acronyms like derp so I'm in! Got a Droid I move here and there, so now it's here.
Mine on.
1065  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7 - Unable to save URL of pool on: April 24, 2017, 04:30:28 AM
Are you filling in all three pools info? I recall reading once somewhere that it can be finicky like that depending on firmware/software version you're running.
Edit - and you're not typing in "stratum+tcp://" are you? If you are ditch that and it'll take it.
1066  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Foxminers? on: April 23, 2017, 03:00:27 PM
NotFuzzy had it right in the first place... IGNORE this moronic shill.
1067  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I need a wallet with a static bitcoin address on: April 21, 2017, 09:45:37 PM
I generate my (paper) addresses offline and then put them in manually into any wallet app I want to use - Currently I use Mycelium.

One caveat, make sure you NEVER lose that piece of paper with your private key on it!  Also, I don't put the private key in unless I'm about to transfer some coin out, then I delete the private key keeping the public key in the app so it's a "watch only" and if anything happens to my phone/app/etc nobody gets my coin!

Did I mention to never lose your address info if you do this?

75THs at 1500W??  That's either epic or scam, and epic is in short supply...  Huh
1071  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: April 20, 2017, 03:19:10 PM
@VRobb,

as always, our hosting option, you do not have to worry about dead units or broken units as it be repaired or replaced at site if it is damaged or broken while in our hosting!  Fully protected option is $60/kw, string attached is shipout is only after unit is not profitable to hash.  (hash to the ash option, and probably in those senario, hosting fee at that time may be even lower to hash a bit longer by migrating to lower grade hosting option we have to keep the unit working longer)
Definitely something to consider when I increase my mining, but the 1/2 running R4B4 of concern is currently up in the great white north, and as such will either stay there or head on back to another warranty repair in the near future if the hosting site sends another batch of units for repair (which is both fortunately and unfortunately likely!).
1072  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Power supply questions for antminer s7 on: April 20, 2017, 05:22:39 AM
I ran my S7 with a Lepa 1600W psu on 120VAC.  Did the job well for about a year, after which I sold the s7 and now run an R4 on the same Lepa psu.  No problems for me, YMMV.

WOW, you really are a noob.  Look, it's real easy, try to keep up:

1) L3 from BiteMe is NOT a bitcoin miner so therefore is not only inappropriate for this thread but also derided (look it up)
2) If you can't even spell "mangina" right you might as well GTFO.  We appreciate any insults, criticisms and sarcasm to be done with proper spelling and grammar.  Otherwise how are we supposed to know WTF you're talking about?   Cheesy

Sorry, kano-san, for the OT rant, but sometimes the ignorance proudly shown by the clueless is too much to take!    Wink

Took a while to reply coz I was driving down the highway in Salt Lake City when we found it Smiley

What brings you to the states?!
I was thinking the same!  What brings you, kano-san, to Utah?  I road trip often through Utah on my avatar, never actually stay though!  I do love I80 up north into Wyoming.  Lots of space!!
Now back to our regularly scheduled program, Block busting action!!
1075  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: April 19, 2017, 05:22:09 PM
Looks like it was a failover-failed-to-failback scenario.  Still only 1/2  hash but that beats 0, and I got until end of June to decide if I want to warranty it again.  Much like elections, it's a matter of picking the least objectionable option.
1076  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: April 19, 2017, 01:50:05 PM
Repair finished, R4B4 is being sent back to Hoth...  Fingers crossed all is good!
Well that didn't take long...  R4 got back to the Hoth mine and after a few weeks has dropped a board (again) and is running at 1/2 speed.
Lame.  Angry

And there goes the second board - now seeing 0 hash poolside.  I also have an S9 there so it's not a connection or node problem... Tongue

I've requested a reboot and we'll see if anything happens.  A big harrumph to all this unreliable crap!  Angry

Edit - Oh, sure, I still got a few months of warranty left, but at this rate you LOSE money getting it fixed and you LOSE money if you don't!  Cheesy

Reading a recommendation by Kano to configure more than one URL on the miner got me to ask. What other kano pool URL's could I put in my S4 and S5? I live in Central America.

S7 Soon-ish
I can't speak for kano-san, but I have solo pools setup for my fail overs if the first pool setup in my config pointing to kano goes dark. Rarely happens, and only for a short time, so pointing to anything other than a solo pool seems pointless to me...
Just my 0.02BTC, YMMV.

If you ordered them in January you have a 180 day warranty period, not 90.
