Actually with a direct call to it you can get there: http://192.168.x.x/cgi-bin/minerAdvanced.cgi (change ip address to your miner's actual address) Not sure what happens if you go and change the one setting in there, clock speed. Might work, might be ignored, might brick... Who knows? Who wants to spin the wheel and see what comes up?

Yes you need hardware, and if you want max possible ROI DO NOT point your miner to Antpool or any of the other pools that don't give up the txn fees. That's a ripoff.
What would your recommendation as a newbie? of course I can't buy high end hardwares right away. Where should I start? .should i get the USB type hardware?. and join in a pool mining website? The current, most efficient mining machines all run about a grand apiece depending on which one you get, whether a PSU's needed, etc... You could do ok with a used S7 - you can find them for a few hundred dollars now. Stick that on a pool that has low fee and gives the txn fees to the miners and you should do a few bucks a day ($3.xx) average at current diff. A USB miner will only be useful as a lottery ticket - you'll either never make ROI or come out WAY ahead if you luck-out and hit a block for over $14000!!!

Not for BTC, that time's way past. You might ask in the alt coin section and see what available there.

For pool mining I'm partial to kano.is
For solo mining I have my failover set to solo ckpool.
Both of these pools have support threads in the Pools forum area.
So which one is much more ideal that I can earn more? by solo or pool ? Unless you're running PH levels of hash, pool is the way to go. Solo would be like playing the lottery - you might get lucky, you might not...

Yes you really need to buy a miner to mine btc. You'll use your MacBook to set it up, though! Latest generation machines are the R4 and S9 from bitmain, Avalon 741 from Canaan.

I stand corrected. Thanks for the real explanation, -ck!

Indeed Haggs! And as I understand it it is trivial to increase the blocksize up to a max of 32MB since that's already coded in originally by Satoshi! Don't need all that extra nonsense with all the ulterior motives attached...

Nice! Only 8+% diff with lots of fees! Block party weekend starts!!

As always, it depends... You get 4.5THs for around 3kW which is quite a bit more than current miners will do - Consider a previous generation S7 running at 4.8THs was rated about 1.3kW, and the latest R4 and S9 units will do basically 1THs per 100W.
So what do you pay for all those kWs you'll need? That will tell you if you can run older gen miners with any semblance of ROI.

It's time for a good 'ole Block Friday! Oh Please!

Repair finished, R4B4 is being sent back to Hoth... Fingers crossed all is good!

You're an idiot, another candidate for the ignore button, racist moron...

My sick droid R4B4 has finally arrived at the imperial droid maintenance facility, and hopefully will be repaired and sent back to the btc mine at my Hoth like DC. Ran for about a day before a hashboard died, and that was on December 28th... Was running at half speed for a bit, but seriously folks LAME!

Well, of those 4 blocks only the earliest has been confirmed and in my address, 455877. The other three are waiting for us to crack a block so they're included and get confirmed. Not sure how your numbers don't match...

How come a lot of these big pools are suddenly inverting their pool fee?... ranging from -3% to -10%... so essentially promising a 103% to 110% mining profit... how did that happen, and where do these extra BTC come from?
And more big pools are signalling BU... this can't be any good for the future of the network....
Fees are huge. 12.5 and 3 % is 12.875. Most blocks are over 13 due to fees. A sucker bet. NO ONE is here to give you free money! They want YOUR money. TXN fees are miners' money. Damn thieves!!

The stock Delta 12038 6000rpm fan pulls around 36W when at full speed.

Frankly that makes no sense. Every transaction in my wallet exactly corresponds with the rewards and payout pages. Nothing missing, ever. No transaction fees are taken from what the rewards and payout pages show. Strange, what wallet are you using?
