1001  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you been threaten to stop gambling on: May 27, 2023, 01:14:19 PM
Wife knows best.  Grin

I was a bit addicted to gambling since my childhood but under my mother's rule I often abstained from gambling. But nowadays with various online casinos and gambling sites, my parents can't stop me from gambling. But one thing is very important because I am very young now and have the ability to control myself. So I don't indulge myself in gambling but my wife makes me this bad in Many times the urge to break out of the habit. However, with my wife's encouragement, I devote very little time to online casinos and gambling. I now stay away from betting only on IPL cricket. But my wife won't let me catch more than one bet every day.
At least you've got your wife on your back and she's there to monitor you if you're doing good or not. She just want to moderate you from gambling and that's typical with wives that's concern to their husbands.

Just like to the friend of OP, it's needed to give that ultimatum or else that guy won't stop and will continue to hide things from her.
1002  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will you invest in a project that might take years to outshine the market?? on: May 27, 2023, 10:42:50 AM
I found out in the blockchain world, many people are losing patience when they start to invest in a project. Their understanding about "long term" is no longer years but weeks.

Some project need time to build and shape. What do you think?
You're right.

And you know why? It's because that people have been thinking that it's always a fast paced market which is but then, that comes close because of its volatility.

But for these projects to impress investors then they have to show that they're already at their best as they propose themselves and giving their pitch to everybody.
1003  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do not rely on articles as resources to learn Bitcoin on: May 27, 2023, 08:33:16 AM
As long as the sources are adding information for someone who wants to learn more about Bitcoin and it's not corrupting the mind of its readers, that's a fine source.

These sources are even just for free and they've made of course by these exchanges or whoever sponsors them and have it put on their website. And that's the actual fee that every guest or visitor pays them, the traffic in exchange of the resources and information that they've included on these articles.

But it's true that some of these articles might be misleading and bias.

Funny how Puppey said that if his team makes it to TI this year "Everyone is f...ed"  Grin Grin and to be true , they have 4th , 3rd , 2nd place in the last 3 TI's ...so there is actually a chance for them to win it Grin.
There goes the pattern and their social media page that it should be 1st on the next TI.  Cheesy

Meanwhile , they have a very long road to go and it looks like last TI qualifiers chance might be their last hope or they go nuts now and win every game they have left in DPC.
They're still alive and their next match is about to happen within the next 30 minutes as of typing this. They need to win against Entity so that they can still breathe and keep going hoping that they'll be ending going to Bali and won't relegate to division 2.

Also news from OG.Taigo who is having some life issues ..with depression and anxiety rounds and I do hope the guy gets a well deserved treatment and make a comeback because the Dota 2 fans really likes him as a person but as a player as well.
AFAIK, it's the same with K1 that has announced his vacation as well due to the same reason.
1005  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dubai to construct the world's first bitcoin tower on: May 26, 2023, 12:07:32 PM
AFAIK, as they've been dependent on their fossil fuels and oil reserve, they just can't rely to it forever so this is a good diversification that they do for their country.

I guess that Dubai is going to be one of the best countries in terms of skyscrapers and as Bitcoin is getting widely accepted. They can capitalze on that moment while the others are still reluctant towards getting involved and adopting it.

Isn't it that Binance has already an office there? And that's why Dubai is a Bitcoin friendly country.

They can't be sure with that but they need to force themselves to win the remaining games so that they won't be back to the division 2. That's sad if they'll be back to div 2 just after going to div 1.
They finally got one on the board after sweeping D1 Hustlers with ease, and it was so clean they only gave 12 kills to the side of D1 Hustlers. Their next series will be against Entity and it'll be a crucial series to avoid relegation because I think it's their best chance to get a second win when compared to their series next week.

Entity pulled a decent performance against Gaimin Gladiators and stole the first map, but their drafting in the next two games was pretty bad. They gave Gaimin Gladiators an easy time completing the reverse sweep. If they still believe in the Windranger pick, then Team Secret might have no problem winning their last series for this week because Entity has been picking that hero so much (5/8 games), and it's a guaranteed loss.
Yeah, I've missed that match but that's good on them. They have to win against Entity but I don't think that it's going to be easy for them. Entity managed to win 1 against GG yesterday but still GG got them entirely.

As of now going on other region on EEU. We've got early games and I'm watching BetBoom against One Move which isn't a familiar team on division 1. But it's a surprise that these teams are struggling on this region, VP and Team Spirit.

Welcome to the forum, I've just checked in your bookie but it seems it's still in the Beta phase. Do you have any ETA on when you'll do the actual launch?

Anyway, wishing you luck as you're still starting and you're doing a lot to make your bookie better.

not lot of sports for now
bookies without tennis ? how
Even with esports, they still haven't got it yet and that's due to them being in the beta phase and it's understandable.
1008  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do You trust Tether (USDT) Stablecoin? on: May 25, 2023, 08:24:19 AM
some people were distrusting this one but i have been trusting this since a few years ago. Im actively using USDT to transfer in the daily basis and yeah nothing happened with it. What's the problem then?
Those controversies where Tether has been involved, those issues can't be avoided when their treasury hasn't been clear if they've got enough reserve funds. That's where people and the regulators were worried about.

But when things are starting to get clear and it's likely been verified with the funds that they've got for backing it up as pegged in USD. Things are changing.

I see no reason for people not to use this stable coin. USDT is as good as another regulated stable coin. Even though the haters will always there and USDT will still exist.
For traders, investors and holders.

This is actually ideal for those that have got funds ready to retain their value. The conversion of their assets into Tether makes them secured from any volatility and that's what this stable coin is all about.

~snip~

now, that this story is out, he should take care of his bitcoins and the keys. he should have not disclose it to the public about his bitcoin's holdings. maybe, it is also good for his content, hence, the mention of robbers not touching his computer and BTC's keys.
sometimes people are really not cautious on what they are sharing to the public. but in any case, it is up to him how he will safeguard his crypto assets. now, there will be new thieves on the look out for his crypto assets... Grin
Well, it had happened once and I don't think that his unwise to let that happen again. He for sure has got enough of it and will not label icons on his PC such as his bitcoin private keys. I guess he's got it now on a hardware wallet.

~snip~
After the discussion in this thread, I watched his video yesterday. He is a cool dude and really creates very strong content. Before, I simply didn’t come across his videos, since I’m not fond of videos of this format, which is probably why it was not in the recommendations. And yet he was very lucky that the thief was very stupid.
He's the biggest if not, one of the biggest content creators in YouTube and also in different platforms. The thief probably isn't just aware of computer stuff and looking for some real money to find out.
1010  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESports betting -CS:GO, DOTA 2, LOL, Valorant - Sportsbet.io discussion thread on: May 24, 2023, 02:27:07 PM
4 matches remaining for them and they're at the bottom zero of the rankings as of now. They have to win at least most of those matches.
Three out of the four remaining matches would be winnable for them since they're already faced the top teams like Team Liquid and GG.
Yes, that's much likely it is. But I think that they won't just think like this as most of the teams in here can still give the strongest team knockouts.

They can't be sure with that but they need to force themselves to win the remaining games so that they won't be back to the division 2. That's sad if they'll be back to div 2 just after going to div 1.
1011  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Start a lending business on: May 24, 2023, 11:21:31 AM
I would like to become a lender like others on this forum, but as you can see from my account, I don't have the necessary credibility to operate like others.
I have the capital to lend, but it is normal that with such a low-level account, those wanting loans are worried about the collateral scam.
Are there any other ways to get started?

Do you think I can act as a lender by leaning on another user who escrow and who holds the collateral?

Any suggestion to start this business is very welcome.
Thank you
This is easy, if you're still in a low rank and you want to lend then choose only those that wants to take a loan that has already a reputation in the forum and it's up to you if you'll offer them collateral free loans.

Usually with that, they'll trust you easily since you're the lender and you're the one that's giving that condition which will be liked by most. But then, if that's to no avail then you're free to ask an escrow[1] and help you out with this service.

Good thing that the Bali major won't be organized by them but it's going to be IO sports and Epulze. We've been seeing how Epulze is organizing these SEA DPC tournaments together with Lima major and there's no problem with them.

Valve should be picky with these majors and won't just award it to these shitty organizers that haven't done well and instead of praises, they've received criticisms.

Going for some past matches these days, Bleed swept Talon and IIRC this is the first time that they've been beaten by another sea team.
The production level of Epulze tbh is almost close to PGL if you've watched the Lima major, but I hope their collaboration with IO Esports would make a big difference this time.
We will see it then on the upcoming Bali major if there have been some improvements. I don't like the openness of both teams while they hear shouts and screams of the fans also the casting.

It's better that there's always the sound proof room if the teams are going to play on the stage.

Did anyone watch the WEU DPC earlier today? Team OG with the reverse sweep handing Team Secret their third loss, and now both newly promoted teams are the only ones without a win.

Team Liquid with an impressive win beating Gaimin Gladiators 2-0 while Tundra had no problem sweeping D1 Hustlers.
That was an excellent sweep made by team Liquid against GG.

While many have been optimistic about Team Secret's stepping up on this division, it seems that they're lacklusters. 4 matches remaining for them and they're at the bottom zero of the rankings as of now. They have to win at least most of those matches.
1013  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mr Beast’s house robbed of everything except for bitcoin on: May 23, 2023, 07:42:48 PM
I saw this video somewhere and it was funny while he's explaining how did it happened. Things like his private keys where labeled on that computer and good thing the robber didn't even flinched to touch it or else his BTCs were all gone.

I'm not very familiar with his work, I've seen a few videos, as far as I understand, he produces entertaining content and helps people. In this story, the saying comes to mind: if you want to hide something, put it in the most visible place. But the thief turned out to be more attentive; he could take a solid jackpot.
He's a content creator and the videos that he's producing are budgeted like a million dollars each of them. It's like that robber is just for some things and think that he took a jackpot but didn't.
1014  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Hotbit stops operation on: May 23, 2023, 11:16:35 AM
This wasn't even caused by regulations.

freezing assets and not giving any transparency to their customers will totally kill any platform.

They've mentioned about difficulty in compliance but, I think they're just trying to get out and using it as an excuse since it's been seen with other exchange's closure.

They gave a only one month to withdraw funds from there, announcing on his blog and Twitter. I don't read their blog, nor do I follow their Twitter account, yet I didn't receive any email notification about this closing of the business.
They've just posted it on their Twitter and it was all of a sudden. I think one month isn't enough for everyone to withdraw their funds but still, they've given time for everyone to withdraw it. But, I pity those that have missed this update and still got funds there and might miss this threshold of time for withdrawal.

Hé hé, another exchange closing the doors and blaming someone else Roll Eyes

- They're blaming (mainly) the regulations too hard to follow:
If they were really convinced with their business, it was only a matter to change your location for a more friendly country (Hotbit is Asian I believe) Why not? Binance is traveling since years across the world when something is better for their operation (taxes, regulations, ect)
Exactly, a serious business won't find these compliance as a hindrance to their operations. But it seems that they've given up and just trying to pull things out of these regulations. Although these regulations are certainly difficult for these business but can't also remove that fact that they might just use it as reason for some other reasons they're trying to hide.

This is so scary, Imagine some new leave their coins their on staking for more than a month without checking his investment. This kind of time limit of withdrawing the balance is very unfair to customers since not all users follow not your keys not your coin principle since this exchange offers defi that will be tempting for customers to stay the funds within the exchange.

I believe this is still part of the aftershock of FTX collapse since they mention it on the reason. I think many small to medium exchange will follow on this move since they doesn’t have much profit on bear market. Maybe they will just rebrand after this closure hoping other user will caught off guard by leaving their money on exchange.
True.

I have seen folks that have posted in the forum as well trying to recover those funds from unknown exchanges that have already announced their closure. We're seeing still a domino effect and we're not even in a bear market.

They are based in Hong Kong and Estonia, so they should be safe from US regulations but they must be bankrupt too.

They give 3 reasons for this shutdown and it's good to see them allow users to withdraw if there were even users left in the exchange. One reason was that it was because of the significant losses from numerous problems they suffered. They were accused by several users in the forum, it must have affected their profit.
They have to give timeframe for their users if there are still remaining funds but a month for all of these is unfair and short.

They're the only CEXs I know of that have lasted longer in no KYC policy, while more established competitors have gradually increased their policies up to full KYC requirements.
Surprisingly since the last few days they breathed the air of life, they announced some new coins listed. I hope it's listed for free and not a last ditch attempt to withhold more user funds after this shutdown phase.
Really? I don't use them but didn't know that they're still one of those exchanges that have allowed users not to push for KYC. But then, everything has come to an end for them. As for those newly listed coins, the devs might contest to them after knowing this closure.

They are based in Hong Kong and Estonia, so they should be safe from US regulations but they must be bankrupt too.

FTX was also "safe from US regulations" but the international parent company also exploded as well as all of the subsidiaries.
After reading some of their partners and some info about them, it seems that this is more of Chinese focused exchange, maybe there's something within their border and stuff and could it be that there's a pressure on that part.

1 month is too short, not everyone will be able to withdraw... but perhaps that's what they wanted. It's possible they don't have enough funds to cover everything mainly due to the frozen assets from last year which they haven't gotten back.

!remind me to check back few days after to see if people are experiencing issues when trying to get their funds out.
I agree that 1 month isn't really that enough for most users. IIRC, most of these closures give around 1-3 months for everyone to give it time for withdrawal but then, they're hasting on the process.
1015  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESports betting -CS:GO, DOTA 2, LOL, Valorant - Sportsbet.io discussion thread on: May 22, 2023, 12:46:10 PM
I also saw some posts going through the subreddit, as some couldn't help but compare the level of production between the different regions. I wouldn't mind having PGL as long as they won't be the ones organizing the future majors.
Good thing that the Bali major won't be organized by them but it's going to be IO sports and Epulze. We've been seeing how Epulze is organizing these SEA DPC tournaments together with Lima major and there's no problem with them.

1016  Economy / Exchanges / Hotbit stops operation on: May 22, 2023, 09:23:55 AM
I was looking if someone has already posted this news and it was posted through Hotbit's twitter account a few hours ago.

It's time to take a bow 🙇
For 5 years and 4 months, the Hotbit team has been proud to participate in a wonderful crypto show with 5 million users. However, it is with great regret that we have made the decision to stop all CEX operations from May 22, UTC 04:00. We kindly ask all users to withdraw their remaining assets before June 21, UTC 04:00.

For any questions, please contact us viahttps://hotbit.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

This decision is based on three reasons: please check this announcement link for more detalis: https://hotbit.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/14750194236823

Those that has got funds there have 1 month to withdraw it. And for those that want to know the reasons for it, you can just go directly to their link. Don't worry it's safe and it's from them.

We saw the pattern from the other exchanges that have shut their operations. As said on one reason, about hard dealing with regulations from the government.

what is the best way to learn from a YouTube channel or Group for free please mentioned the names helping to start earning.
Avoid any group at all costs that asks you for a premium membership. The contents that you'll be getting there as signals aren't really premium at all as it's like just extended info based on the owner of that group as per analysis of theirs.

And to answer your question based on your title; the best investment as of now is, nothing's gonna beat Bitcoin. It's why many of us here are aiming to have at least 1 Bitcoin but for the folks like you, you're just starting out.

1018  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: increased Youtube Gambling ads? on: May 21, 2023, 10:39:13 PM
I'm asking out of curiosity, are you guys experiencing a surge of gambling ads on youtube videos lately? this past week I've experienced an increased encounter of gambling ads on videos I watch on youtube. it's not that it bothers me, I am just surprised because I don't remember getting this many gambling ads on youtube videos in the past, but this past week, I usually get a gambling ad from 2-3 out of 5 videos I watch(it's just an estimation because of how often I get the ads). I don't know if it is because I recently watched several videos of streamers gambling or it's just a coincidence, I've watched streamers gambling videos in the past but I have never gotten this many gambling ads.
I haven't.

This is probably the algorithm that they have and whatever you used to watch and search, that's what the algorithm will show you. But I do get this a lot of time on Facebook videos but most of those are not the algo type but more of sponsored videos that they put it at the end of their videos.

If you're using Google Chrome which is another counterpart company of YouTube then that's it, the algo ticks on your browsing and watching activity.
1019  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are you still buying? on: May 21, 2023, 07:25:52 PM
This market is not favourable since 2021 till now like as of last two years that was a boom let's face the fact about, bitcoin price has drastically reduced the number of buyers overtime, even most of you that have it before aren't buying more bitcoin recently because of the waving price dilemma. Think of it this way, if you sleep by 8pm and wake up by 5am to discover that bitcoin rise up to $50k, will is you said is scam? Or will you regret for not buying again? Believe me it will shock many people how the bull will react. Keep buying if trust bitcoin
On 2021, it's actually a good year and one of the best bull runs that I've ever seen. But then, after the bull run it has to lie low and have to go through a bear market which was the one that you've said wasn't favourable at all.

Enough with saying or thinking that bitcoin is a scam if its price moves up. We're done with that and only those people that have no bitcoin are keep on saying that.

But most likely when we see the price of bitcoin moves up, we're regretting that we haven't bought when it's cheap. Those that have been holding, there's no problem if that part was missed.
1020  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sunday off-topic - If not "bitcoin", then what? on: May 21, 2023, 11:52:18 AM
I think already a decade ago "e-" was used for "electronic" versions of given words, like e-mail or e-market.
With this, I remember and it's more with the contribution of David Chaum's eCash.

Ecash was conceived by David Chaum as an anonymous cryptographic electronic money or electronic cash system in 1982. It was realized through his corporation Digicash and used as micropayment system at one US bank from 1995 to 1998.

David Lee Chaum (born 1955) is an American computer scientist, cryptographer, and inventor. He is known as a pioneer in cryptography and privacy-preserving technologies, and widely recognized as the inventor of digital cash.

I am curious what do you think about it, why these two words "bit + coin" were selected?
While all that you've said about the combination of bits/coin is where it's derived. I guess it's more of a personal reason why satoshi have chosen it to make it easier recognizable as the name is catchy? I guess. Could also be sounding like a cypherphunk thing and much better than digital coin or digital cash.
