641  Economy / Exchanges / Re: HTX (Huobi) hacked, $8 million lost on: September 29, 2023, 05:03:16 PM
If I'll base that on their Facebook page, nothing has changed. They didn't even reported or posted that they were hacked unlike the other exchanges that have been hacked before.

So, they're boasting with that status based on their record where in fact that this has happened and yet they don't want to let their customers and soon-to-be customers know that this hack just happened recently.
It seems that even HTX twitter does not report any hacks unless the CEO himself reports, maybe this is because he wants to cover up so that there is no doubt from users?

Justin said - has established a SAFU fund in anticipation of another attack, they also said they will continue to discuss the security mechanism of the exchange.

That's why they never announced on all HTX social media to prevent the news from spreading widely, even though I know some customers already know that HTX has been hacked and with Justin's ridiculous offer.
I've tried to check again their Facebook account but there's no claiming and admitting that they were hacked. So I guess it's part of their plan and they're not going to tell anybody that they've been.

Although there's this post of theirs about Justin Sun too about:

Justin Sun, #HTX Global Advisory Board Member, brought valuable insights to the "Talk to Justin Sun about Crypto Safety Issues" live broadcast on Sept. 26th. He tackled security concerns in #crypto exchanges and more.

And there's this image of his on this particular post. They don't want to put it on public so that their customers aren't going to panic. Well, IMHO, that's not a good sign for their transparency.
642  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Trustable or not on: September 29, 2023, 12:26:43 PM
A newbie account that mentions a name and then a service and specific websites that's being so called private businesses. @OP, sorry to say but it seems that everything is tailored that you're just here trying to make people believe that you're asking a legitimate question.

But the fact is that you're promoting the name as if there will be people that are gullible enough to get fooled by such.

If you're asking about who to trust in Telegram, you shouldn't trust anyone there. And if you're going to ask about reputable people from the forum, there are plenty of them and you can figure that out by checking the trust feed back.

They also offer escrow service and are trustworthy but not that random guy you've mentioned and those that were vouching for him.
643  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mixin Network hacked - $200 Million lost on: September 28, 2023, 01:35:20 PM
He went on to say that as for the other 50% of their funds, mixin network is going to issue "bonds tokens" for the customers to claim, and the platform would repurchase it from them in the future.
Why it feels like I have some odd feeling on this one. Yeah, it's a temporary solution that they can provide to gain back the customers confidence about this incident. Not a hater or what not but isn't that we've seen something like this when the fiascos of Do Kwon has happened.

Well, the difference is that they're new tokens and not bond tokens or there's not that much difference at all with it.

But anyway, I guess with all of these platforms and networks that have been hacked with a lot of money. I guess that they all invested in security but the reality is that, no matter how strong the network and its security protocols are, all of them are prone to attacks and success rates of it are increasing.

You have some odd feeling because something is terribly odd. Feng Xiaodong not only sounds substandard, he's also funny ensuring that 50% of the users' funds are safe but it's going to be in the form of "bond tokens" which they will create out of thin air and will buy back in an undetermined time in the indefinite future. LOL! He at least knows how to crack a good joke.
Yeah, that seems to be the reason because we've seen this being done by some con before and as much as I don't want to think negatively about the people involved proposing this. However, it just really sounds off beat.

I don't know how secure the network really is, but it doesn't matter. All it takes is one foolish move and all security is pointless, something like your funds are in a cold storage and you kept the seed phrase in your Gmail drafts. LOL! They claim to be a "decentralized multisig" solution and they have a cloud service provider whose database stored the keys.
True.

One employee or one of the co founders done something wrong and true that one mistake in the tiniest that he can do, they're all going to fall down. Seems like that there's an interesting development on this one on how they've screwed up.
644  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🎲BetFury.io| 💸Buy-Sell BFG on BetFury | 🔥Fury Pharaoh - New In-house Slot on: September 28, 2023, 10:08:13 AM
I say stable because I have been holding BFG tokens for 3 months, and from Coingecko's data it has only experienced a decline of 3-10% over the past year. I think that's cool considering the current price of Bitcoin.
That's true, looking at the performance of it for the past year. There's not that much drop but if we're going to take a look at the whole chart of it, although it's dropping it's not that far from the launching price.

The volume is low for this time so activities aren't that much and the movement of its price and performance isn't also a lot.

But we'll see if Bitcoin goes on another ATH, it will move all of these tokens including BFG.

#HTX Safe & Secure Since 2013!
Zero Security Incidents Since Inception
Have they updated this news or are they still claiming that they are safe since 2013? I read some reports and found that Huobi cooperated several times to freeze hacked currencies, the last of which was several months ago, so perhaps this was the reason behind the hacking attempt.

Well, I'd say if they really are believing themselves and trustworthy then they should at least made some announcement about this. Or maybe, they're just waiting for a cooldown and will tell this when everything's okay and calm.
646  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Credit card gambling fuels gambling addiction on: September 27, 2023, 07:46:13 PM
~snip~
If truly you've get to know people that can't ever pay their debts because the amount is enormous for them then why are you saying that paying debt for 12 years is exaggerated? In what way? Everyone knows how much they make every month, and paying back what they owe is coming from how much they make monthly, this is no exaggeration.
While it's just your example but I do find it exaggerated because if someone who takes a credit card and was able to reach up to 12 years of paying it, I don't think the bank would allow unless that gambler have left that debt for so long and ignoring his obligation.

But if it's not exaggeration to you, that's fine, we're just up to discussion and we've got different opinions about it.

This fellow have wasted 30k on gambling, and he has 28,800$ left to pay back, he made not less than $300 per month, and he said he can only pay $200 back every month, do the math yourself, $200 in twelve months is $2400 and in the next 12 years that is $28,800$, I was ridiculed because of this problem he invited into his life.
That fellow, as you've said, we all know how much we make but that guy is different and probably saw himself unguarded during that time.

I advised him to try making extra earnings, 12 years isn't a joke as he will end up working for the long term only to pay back his debt, what about his life? I advised him to figure out how to earn more money monthly because that's the only solution I can think of, it's not exaggeration,  it's something that's still fresh.
Yup, that isn't a joke and that's why I thought of it as exaggerated but if that's not really an example and true to life. Your advice to him is right, getting more source of income and work for it. That's the only way he can get out of that debt.

On his end, that's an exaggeration but he asked for and did it on his own so, he has to pay for it.
647  Economy / Exchanges / Re: HTX (Huobi) hacked, $8 million lost on: September 27, 2023, 12:50:57 PM
I have taken a look at Huobi's official Facebook page, and how ironic that before this incident has happened. A couple of days ago, they've posted and boasted that they've never had been any security issue. I'm not sure if that was the sign that exposed their security or it's just really a coincidence and they've never seen it coming.

649  Economy / Economics / Re: The economy is also getting harder for private equity companies on: September 26, 2023, 01:22:51 PM
I have read a lot of forecast that many industries are going to fall like certain layoffs will be massively done. Many of it are from the tech industry for which it happened a lot already this year. Take the example of what Elon did to a lot of X's former employees.

it is true that things are a little bad, but the hope is that the economy will improve in the coming years. Therefore, companies may sacrifice a little profits to maintain distinguished employees or those who are difficult to replace, and then the jobs that can be replaced or quick replacements for them. companies that can change their production plans and strategy will quickly stand and will be ones that are less affected.
While there are companies that seek the goodness and show kindness to their employees but not all of them are the same. Despite that there could be a loss that's occurring on their reports, as much as they can they want to retain humanity.

But it's not a sustainable attitude of a company if they've been incurring losses and there's a need to cut the budget for their employee's salary and the best solution is to layoff as much as they can and retain only those that are good and productive to them.
650  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Credit card gambling fuels gambling addiction on: September 26, 2023, 10:13:26 AM
I don't know how deep the debt on credit card gambling is today until I do my own research and mehn, and it's very sad, many people are in debt because they keep using their credit cards to fund their gambling hunger.
That's a trap for most people that don't know how to use credit cards. It is not only the gamblers that uses their credit card to fund their casino accounts but also those that keeps on swiping without paying their debt at the right time.

They think that they'll be able to pay it on time so, they're confident to just keep on using their credit cards on any purpose that they like and one of it is in gambling.

Imagine someone you know telling you that it will take him 12 years to pay off his debt, I now know why few countries don't want their citizens to gamble using their credit cards,  betting on credit cards has left too many people in thousands of debt.
It is sort of exaggerated about paying a debt for 12 years but trust me, I've known people that can't even pay their debts for more than that year and even asking for condonation and restructured payment, they still can't. That's why irresponsible usage of it will really put you on greater debt.

Which makes me think that Credit card is far more helping to fuel gambling addiction more than anything else, you don't actually have the money, but you can still gamble, this alone will make people to lose their minds and gamble anyhow.
Well, this is on the gambler themselves. Whether they have credit card or cash, as long as they have the urge to gamble, they will gamble no matter what. Let's take a look at those gamblers that don't have anything but still want to gamble, they do something to sustain that crave they have for gambling.

I'm glad I don't even like using Credit cards for gambling and my reason isn't even because of possible reckless gambling but because I don't like centralized payment solutions, you should stay away from using Credit card to gamble online, it sure would easily throw you out in the street, homeless.
Although there are too many perks that one can enjoy by owning a credit card, I choose not to own one since we're free to apply for it and the bank will just have to release it then.

I've just seen it from others that when they have it, they're like unstoppable spenders whether it's for gambling or other things they want.
651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [WARNING] Crypto casino scam on teh move again. on: September 26, 2023, 05:22:11 AM
It is an old one for sure and like all the other scams, it keeps on coming back.
That's what I noticed and it truly is an old one but can't be stopped and there will be new victims of it. As long as they see people that are still becoming victims of this old trick, this old trick will continue to live.

It keeps coming back because it's pretty smart. The guy distracts you from the real danger by talking to you about how the casino is bad for him and he wants to teach them a lesson for not paying him, he'll talk about the exploit and you focus on this aspect, whether he is the real admin on the site, if there really is an exploit, if it's not a way to make you deposit and lose money gambling. Most people don't think that the whole casino is fake, which is where they lose.
That's they connect with their potential victims, they're going to get you through good conversations so that you won't even have an inch of thinking that they're going to scam you. This is a modern day technique and not just happening online but also in real life. I've seen people really going to take care of you but from the very start, they have the intention to do ill and scam you.

Yeah, it was all planned and ployed until you take and get into their trap without knowing that deep inside these people they're thinking that there's one victim that they're going to take their money.  That is why trust no one in the internet even the people that you know because when money talks, they'll show their true nature.

I have a rule in general that if someone contacts me it has to be with a question, a problem I can help them solve. If they have a "deal" for me, even though they don't know me at all, it's always a scam.
People won't come to you with a job or an opportunity to make easy money. They'll contact their friends and family first.
It's always sketchy when out of nowhere someone tries to tell you, "Hey! We've got an opportunity for you to make money!" Like what are they doing telling people these opportunities if they can do it on their own, right?

They can keep that opportunity and do it as much as they can until that opportunity runs out and gone into nothing. But, a simple logic as it is, many still take the trap that they create.

While many of us are quite educated here about these scams, theres still so many that are not and they will fall victim at some point. All it takes is a small lapse in judgement and some disctraction/weaker state of mind and its so easy to make a bad decision. Ive been scammed before and im sure i will be in the future aswell, best to take it as a learning experience.
Exactly.

We're aware of many of their scam ways but there will always be the beginners that are not yet aware of such will be targeted by them. And sadly, they're likely to fall for it easily.
653  Economy / Economics / Re: The impact of war on global economy. on: September 25, 2023, 03:12:34 PM
Everything is being affected by the war. The price of commodities and as in everything has increased and that's due to the demand of oil that's also being used in war and the same goes to the affected areas where oil is being produced.

While there have been a lot of resources and sources of oil, you know that when there are events like this. They just make the prices balloon because they'll reason out it's because plainly of the war.

On for the affected land masses of the war, the decline of prices of the lands there are massively happening.
You have just summarised the OP unintentionally. Everything is affected by war. I haven't witnessed a full blown up war in my country but I have watched in the television. I have also read in the news and also been told by friends in the affected countries.  Tbh, if it is possible, war needs to be avoided by all means. Op hurriedly listed a few things that are affected by war, but I might decide to elaborate but let me just categorise the effects of war in the economy.
  • Internal disruption
  • External effects
  • Natural disruption
In the internal, only the countries at war will suffer as there will be no good food and freedom of movement by the citizens.
In the External, you will understand that neighbouring countries and other countries that depends on the affected country for trades and other international relations will suffer. While the natural effects talks about the environment disorder which affects even the nature and animals. If possible, leave peaceably with all men and shun war.
I didn't noticed that.

We're fortunate that we've never experienced the whole and worst impact of that war physically but with the effect of it globally, we're all affected.

As much as we want to end these wars and avoid them at all cost, we don't know what's on the mind of the world leaders. Maybe those conspiracy theories are right about them, it's all about money and arm sales.
654  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Let's talk about the famous crypto myth on: September 25, 2023, 12:10:06 PM
If you're holding Bitcoin, you really have to marry it until you can finally settle and decided to sell. Whether you think it's a bad advice, apply what you think is best and suits your investing style.

While those that are marrying their bags and thinks that they're better with that, you can't do anything with them but they'll have to hold as much as they can because that's what they think is best for them.

It's not a myth but it's either good or bad advice depending on the person that sees it.
655  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to keep safe the mnemonic phrase - Whats Your method? on: September 24, 2023, 11:34:47 PM
Or you can do what Vitalik did with his wallets. He gave half of the privatekey of one of his wallets to his father. I see that as risky.
I didn't know about this but this seems to be really risky. But that's what is trust for and they're direct related so it's no issue which others can just copy this if the father is technically aware of how to do things in keeping wallets safe.

No need to complicate things, all you have to do is what mk4 has already. There's no need to think of conventional method or way of keeping your mnemonic phrases.

But it's you, whatever works for you and whatever the the results of it, you're the one who's responsible for it.
656  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling all about luck? on: September 24, 2023, 10:18:12 PM
In my opinion making cash from gambling is not a good option and the statistical probability that you will win every game at every casino is very low. [..] However, we all have some kind of luck so we should strive for what is possible for us.
Luck is there but it's not that much going to do when you gamble with those games that requires less luck but more analysis and strategy.

You have to remember that the house is always at the edge and you can't beat them if ever that's in your head. No matter how hard you try so, you'll just fail with many attempts of doing it.

I think winning or losing every game is completely in your head, so your individual tricks are not there.
In gambling, there's nowhere to go because it has only two results. You either win or lose.

let us put it this way, war will always have significant impact in the economy especially those countries which are directly involved one way or another.
neighbouring countries as well. and those countries which are heavily relying on the products produced by those countries.
While those countries are suffering and heavily affected by the war. There's also the opposite impact from those countries that are manufacturers of arms, weapons and ammos.

and other countries which are not directly involved will also feel its impact as you said because most countries are still relying their oil resources outside of their region.
The sad truth from these oil producing companies, they're not just going to be bumped just because of the actual. When there are trade wars that don't have casualties but us in how we're consuming things.

That's how we're also impacted by them if ever they do such economic moves that will have a great and certain impact for the lives of many.

Garmin Gladiators kept it competitive going into map 3 and it looked as if they were going to do the comeback being down 29-19 turning to 29-25 but it wasn't meant to be and Entity took it in a devasting upset in DOTA2 for their match in Dream league.
Yeah, that's not just enough for them as Entity took the series. But as Entity proceeds to the next stage of lower bracket, they've been beaten easily by BetBoom for a 2-0 series.

And with the recent game of Tundra and OG, WTF did I just watched on the 3rd map/game. Bzm's Earth Spirit is very active all over the map and made the game too easy and quick. As Tundra has got PA as their carry, they really shouldn't make the game long or else it will turn the table.

20 minutes of the game and it's gg. Topson beaten by his former team and teammate, OG and Ceb and they will proceed against BetBoom later after the Shopify Rebellion and Team Spirit match.
660  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESports betting -CS:GO, DOTA 2, LOL, Valorant - Sportsbet.io discussion thread on: September 22, 2023, 04:42:01 PM
We're about to see that after the match of GG and Quest, while GG won the first game for this tie breaker game. It's now assured that GG is on the lower bracket and will be up against Entity tomorrow.
Both teams of SR and BB, sometimes they're strong and sometimes they choke. Well, what I mean is that most of them are struggling sometimes but we will see how they'll go later.
As for BB, I just hope that Pure will never type anything that's gonna affect them or do something again that will possibly punish them. On Team Spirit and Tundra, I don't know we will see it too later after BB and SR.
My pick for this game is SR (as of now while posting this current score is 0-1 favor of BB) I pick SR I know they can comeback 2-1. For Tundra and Spirit i'll go pick Spirit. How they play in this league is same as the play in Riyadh Masters 2023.
Congratulations if you did bet for SR as they've won against BB. That 3rd map was lit and surprising. It was a game for BB already but what a nice comeback done by SR.

I'm surprised that Liquid and Talon were eliminated early in the group stage. Unlike their performance in the Riyadh Masters 2023 where they ended up in 2nd and 3rd place the current patch seems to be affecting their gameplay significantly. They are playing quite differently from how they did in Riyadh Masters 2023 with changes in their hero pools and picks evident in both teams.
They need to focus now and get out of this tournament since it's just all about the prize pool, there's more to come in TI.

What happened to Entity ? Out of nowhere they are playing high tier dota and I don't think it's just Ammar or Marl1ne that made this team look good as they are a replacement for original players of Entity.
The subs really did the thing I guess. Comms and strategies from the two did good on it but I still like the original Entity with Gabbi but sadly he's out on this tournament.
