1221  Economy / Economics / Re: Employers are Deflating Salaries in Job Ads to keep Pay Down on: December 24, 2022, 09:38:03 PM
Read a snippet of the article here
Quote
Job seekers are learning that there’s the top end of the pay scale, and then there’s the real top end.

As more companies disclose pay ranges in job listings, especially in places like New York City and Colorado where it’s now required by law, what’s listed as the maximum salary may be closer to the middle, according to multiple human resources executives and pay experts. Some employers are trying to limit the demands of potential hires seeking top dollar, while preventing existing workers from finding out they are underpaid. Range deflation comes up often on industry webinars, but compensation specialists and some human resources chiefs worry it could backfire.

Really crazy things are happening out there. Now to you the reader, supposing you have worked for the past 5 years your current organization and you find out accidentally from the HR in your organization that what you are being paid isn't the highest amount for your position. That is, you are being underpaid, would you ask for a raise or look for another job knowing that with your experience level you'd get a higher pay in another organization?

You could read the complete are here
I don't think experienced employees will overlook this obvious lowballing. Most of them especially for jobs that require specialized skillsets know how much they are supposed to be paid for so they will and will always know ahead of others if they are being underpaid or not. Now this could work with fresh-grads and unskilled workers but by then the low salary offer is a bit justified considering how many workplaces nowadays aren't hiring inexperienced workers.
1222  Economy / Economics / Re: It's Simple to understood now cash is king again on: December 24, 2022, 08:45:38 PM
In times of great crisis like this, cash is definitely your safest bet because it's the only asset people will be willing to accept in the midst of an economic collapse. But that doesn't necessarily mean that people should be complacent and refrain to building wealth by acquiring non-liquid assets like real-estate and crypto for instance. Millionaires and tycoons with massive generational wealtj are made from situations like these so be extra wise with how you treat your money.
1223  Economy / Economics / Re: Car repossessions are on the rise in warning sign for the economy on: December 24, 2022, 08:06:34 PM
Car and housing markets are two very important indicators to understand the mode of the economy. Because these are two things that families own when they have some surplus money and a stable income source. So whenever there is a decline in car and housing demand and a rise in non performing assets, it's usually a very concerning matter for the economy. It shows that the income sources are drying out and new sources are not getting created. That also initiates a decline in demand of general consumer goods which eventually leads to more job cuts and income losses.

Probably the first world countries are moving towards a recession and the third world countries are going to be benefited out of it.
The most crucial factor to consider here is 'Inflation,' It's driving the economy insane, I only hope that its effect would not deprive people of their wants and comforts as it has already done.

When the price of everything is persistently rising, how could commoners be able to change their cars, house and valuables? This is practical in the sense that the purchasing power of their legal tender is shrinking, and this is happening in an environment where wages and salaries are not reviewed upwards. This is the time to be prudent and also look for extra ways of income to reduce the impact on ourselves and our loved ones.
I think his statement just makes sense. The fact that these are purchases you make when you have more than enough money. The poor will not buy cars no matter the situation of the economy because they just couldn't afford it. It is about inflation but I think he made a sound statement with saying that these types of buys are good indicators of a decline in economy. Joblessness, poverty index, and homelessness could easily be attributed to other things, like governance for example, so it's not as great as an indicator per se.
1224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One Month of Accepting Bitcoin for Payment on: December 24, 2022, 07:18:11 PM
I think small businesses like yours are vital to cascading bitcoin's global adoption. The process has to start from somewhere after all, and it's pretty common for small business to adopt fad tactics that other enterprises do, so you may actually initiate a domino effect amongst the businesses in your area. All in all we can see that bitcoin adoption is slowly becoming real, which gets me excited and anticipating for whatever comes next!
1225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Throwback: Bitcoin was $64k today, a year ago. on: December 23, 2022, 10:10:36 PM
Many people are duscouraged about the height at which bitcoin has dropped in price. Honestly I would feel the same if not for the fact that I know bitcoin price acts in cycles. Then again knowledge could only get you so far, you must really know the timing at which things go especially in this venture. Otherwise you'd find yourselves waiting for the next high until you hit another bear market. Which happened to a lot of us because we were so sure back then that 2021 would be the year bitcoin would reach 100k, considering how booming the crypto space is back then.
1226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How important is fiat to Bitcoin? on: December 23, 2022, 08:19:37 PM
Fiat and bitcoin go together so well than what most bitcoin visionaries would dare to admit. For instance, fiat is its peg in the outside market, and frankly speaking what represents its value to the people. We wouldn't be investing in bitcoin in the first place if its dollar value remained on the low all these years, or maybe non-existent even. It also is what bitcoin is supposed to support. Bitcoin can take care of the peerless global transactability whilst fiat can take care of the local economy and commerce. So yes, fiat is substantial to bitcoin's success all throughout no matter how many people deny it.

1227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Brazil passes law to legalize crypto as a payment method on: December 23, 2022, 06:59:25 PM
It is fine and dandy. Honestly I am happy they were this receptive with bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general but I am a bit scared of the implications that this may cause. For instance, we know Brazil is home to the most heinous of crimes there is, and I'm not talking about simple kidnapping and murder, AFAIK illegal black market trades of trafficked humans and organs are made here (correct me if I am wrong), so legalizing crypto utilization within their borders may just make the chase for these criminals extra hard. I do hope they made contingency plans for such instances, otherwise it would be as if they are turning a blind eye on these pressing issues.
1228  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Sam Bankman-Fried has been released on bail on: December 23, 2022, 06:53:46 PM
In crypto, once an incident occurs, it cannot be reversed. So whether Sam Bankman-Fried is released from prison makes no difference. The FTX incident brought down the entire cryptocurrency market, affecting many users. Rather, Sam Bankman-Fried should be heavily punished so that others will be cautious when considering doing something wrong with user funds.
Hopefully the court is to still handle his case and have it be a swift ruling. The amount of damage these people have made not only to the people they scammed but more importantly the cryptocurrency market is something that we may carry for many years. I really hate the way media portrays him as well. Making him look as if he really isn't at fault with happened and as if he's being pinned the blame while the real perpetrators are getting away at the crime scot-free. This narrative we will not buy anymore.
1229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Few Days To Christmas - How Are You Preparing? on: December 23, 2022, 06:09:33 PM
I’d rather eat yellow snow than sell bitcoin to pay for Christmas presents. Not long until Christmas now so Happy Xmas to you OP & all on the forum. I haven’t been preparing well to be honest, I have been struck down with a bad case of man flu, I’m on day four now. I’ll be better by Christmas though, I have a beast of a turkey to enjoy Cheesy

As I do every Xmas I have printed off & funded bitcoin paler wallets for my loved ones. As far as I am aware they HODL every year & are yet to sell going back many years.

Xmas is a great time of year, a special time to spend with people you love. Please have the best one possible.
Seems to me that your family dig your jive of gifting them bitcoins if this has been going on for a number of christmas days already. Must be nice to have a family that supportive with investments and asset management. Anyhow, I do hope you get better soon! The christmas season here at btctalk wouldn't be the same without us guys being active and all, although I myself doubt I'd be as active once it comes around on the account that you'd have to stay downstairs and socialize in person lmao. Anyhow, have a happy hodlidays man! See you around next year!
1230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin isn't a religion. on: December 22, 2022, 08:34:00 PM
That is the biggest problem with bitcoin enthusiasts. They love bitcoin so much to the point of fanaticism where they look at bitcoin as if it can't do no wrong, like it's the shitcoin killer, or the solution to the imbalance of power we experience in our modern society. These problems no matter how idealistic your approach may be, isn't going to be solved by a single cryptocurrency that it itself is being controlled by whales and the flow of the market. Bitcoin is a revolutionary project, a coin with a future, a venture people can look into and invest in. It shouldn't go beyond that.
1231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon musk is for crypto or just for attention to boost Tesla, SpaceX? on: December 22, 2022, 07:19:02 PM
He most likely have investments in crypto at the time that he's so bullish with shilling memecoins. Which he also them funneled into Tesla hence part of the reason for its high valuation last year. Now that he's done with crypto, or at least so it seems, I doubt he'd ever do anything to maybe even boost its popularity to the people. Especially now that people sre seeing him for who he truly is which is a trust-fund baby with anger issues and nigh-zero social skills. His credibility on the internet is waning fast and it's better now that he's leaving crypto alone instead of shilling it and dragging us along with him and his mess.
1232  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should your wife or husband know your seed phrase? on: December 22, 2022, 06:26:18 PM
That depends really. Personally I don't they have to know every nook and cranny to your finances, just make sure you don't put your nose around any of their stuff too. Long as the finances are well-audited, kept in check and are not made for stupid purchases, you guys should be good to go not knowing each other's seed phrases. It's pretty much like not snooping at your partner's phone. You trust them to not do anything behind your back, which in essence is similar to not sharing your seed phrases as well.
1233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could bitcoin mining solve climate change? on: December 22, 2022, 05:48:47 PM
How so? With the current means of energy harvedt I would argue that bitcoin mining could only worsen the state of our planet. With how fossil fuels are burned and are releasing greenhouse gases, and how bitcoin mining rigs use absurd amounts of electricity, this will only force electric companies to supply more electricity, therefore insinuating more burning of fossil fuels in the process which is in turn to cause climate change to hasten and worsen. As long as our current means of energy harvest and resource management isn't changed bitcoin mining isn't gonna solve climate change.
1234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which kind of situation will force you to sell? on: December 22, 2022, 05:06:45 PM
A massive drop in price will cause anyone to sell. But for me it depends on the urgency and how late am I. For instance, cashing out on all your bitcoins at the first few days of a crash is sure to secure you most of your funds provided it doesn't plummet, but if I were to be very late to the game, I'd rather just keep it in and wait for another bull market to come around and pump the price of my assets. It's all about how much I can still salvage, if there's any. There are also regulation issues, if my country bans the use of crypto to the point of lack of access to my funds, I'd be forced to pull all my assets out too.
1235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] Manny Pacquiao vs. DK Yoo on: December 21, 2022, 08:40:36 PM
And I guess that even though you have a good plan and vision for your country, it's not going to work on your way. Many think that running for President is one of the worst decision that Manny did, nevertheless he still continue with it despite some opposition from some people inside his circle.

But he can't be just stop, he can still help his people like in this fight with DK where the proceeds goes to the Filipinos.

And then some of the Ukraine vs Russia war.

Yeah. Manny really have a good vision because he has a lot of self funding project that helps a lot of poor people here that politicians failed to do since they are busy on there own personal gain. There’s no chance for Manny to win for president base on how politics works here. An exhibition fight like this will help him give some funds for his project rather than enter the highest position here in the government.

Manny just need to focus more on marketing when he is facing influencer that is not globally well known but I’m sure this first fight will open many door for more opportunities in the future.

It did actually, because he already had a schedule fight next year in the Middle East, so it means more opportunities = more money for him = more help he can give to his Filipinos. And in turn, Filipinos are watching his fights and paying tickets to it's mutual beneficiary for both parties.

But we don't like the idea of Manny facing Errol Spence of Terence Crawford in a professional fight. We see some interviews of him saying that he will love to face either of the boxer, but for me it's going to be suicide for him. Just go and ride the bandwagon on the exhibition fights.
Not sure his main intention is to really help the Filipino People. I've seen people like him drop their altruistic façade off once they get what they want from the public. Although no one can deny his vision for the Philippines is a little ideal but at the same time achievable. So much for the person that the Filipinos voted as their president lmao. Going back, I can't be too hopeful that what he's doing is for the Filipinos. He could be doing this for himself to let people know he still has it in him and you just can't kick him out of the boxing discussion just because he officially retired.
1236  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: December 21, 2022, 06:57:41 PM
I would just bank on my previous post regarding my statement where I said I would use AI if it does get mature. Thing is, AI matures when more prompts and info is fed to it. So if people want AI to be useful to them, it is imperative that we use AI for things like these, so it can have time to be good at what we want it to be good at. Otherwise ChatGPT will just become a nifty tool we use for some activities and will not become the google killer some AI visionaries hoped it could be.
1237  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are we ever going to see this on gambling platforms some day. on: December 21, 2022, 05:45:21 PM
I think the concept has been entertained already by a lot of vasinos and gamemakers but due to how immense the budget will be as well as the complete cruelty of player's opinions on fighting games, they wouldn't realize the idea. PVP games have some of the most devoted, die-hard, and unforgiving fanbases. If your game can't go on par with the big titles they'll trash it to the ground. The gamemakers know that this is the case and would not just take the risk because the way they handle things now works fine, so for them no need to change up the manner at which things are being handled.
1238  Other / Off-topic / Re: Monty Hall Paradox on: December 21, 2022, 04:48:23 PM
I think you've seen a snippet of the movie 21, a cinematic retelling of the real-life story of the MIT Blackjack Team. Wwll, going back to the question, knowing how variable change works, I'd rather choose to switch than retain. I'd be more than happy to take that extra 33.3% increase in odds. Anyhows, Variable Changes doesn't just exist in gambling. In employment for instance, it is always much wiser to choose to apply for a new company than sticking to your current one in the hopes that your loyalty will be rewarded by a salary increase or whatnot. Variable change exists everywhere.
1239  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why there are no cool games on: December 21, 2022, 03:55:31 PM
The lack of innovation is sparked by the fact that people aren't really keen to try on new things when gambling. When people gamble they don't wanna get uncomfortable which could be insinuated by trying new games. Thus casinos and game makers stick to what is most played to not lose money. If more people are more keen to try new games, these two entities will be more than happy to create new games for the people to try. That is at least my inference regarding the matter of lack of new games.
1240  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fees on Dormant Accounts on Crypto Gambling Platforms on: December 19, 2022, 11:55:11 PM
I think the logic behind penalties for dormancy is warranted and how grave the consequences are is justified, after all they are a business model and they will do everything to ensure that business model stays afloat. And it's not like it is a hard thing to avoid, all players would have to do is to login every once in a while and maybe play one or two games for some, to register as an activity. Or maybe if you're really not seeing yourself playing in that casino anymore in the future, perhaps a proper deletion of your account and transfer of the funds is an option that is possible too.
