1081  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trust in cryptocurrency? on: March 11, 2023, 07:50:45 PM
Recently, I've been wondering, and based on the people I live with, I'd say that only 20% of them know what cryptocurrency is.
Sometimes I ask my friend or colleague if he knows what Bitcoin is, and if they're young (20-35 years old), they say, "Yes, I've heard about it. But I don't know much about it."
If I'm talking to older people (40–60), mostly they don't know what it is.

We are living in a world of big changes in every aspect of life. But do you think it will be time when cryptocurrency will come into our lives and be normal for all people? Will people be able to trust crypto?

I'm wondering what your opinion is about this.
The time you're looking for is slowly approaching as more and more people become aware and curious of bitcoin. Compared to years ago, especially before the bitcoin boom in 2017, I rarely see people talk about it let alone know about it outside of dedicated forums like these and echo chambers on social media. But now as it stands today we can see bitcoin adverts, as well as IRL traction gained from the hard work that a lot of us committed to years ago. If we keep this momentum and stayed true to our goal of letting every human soul in this planet know about bitcoin and its benefits I think there will come a time in the near, maybe even the foreseeable future where people would all have a designated bitcoin wallet, as well as be informed about bitcoin as well.

1083  Economy / Economics / Re: How to spend money determines whether you can avoid unnecessary problems on: March 10, 2023, 07:57:09 PM
True. I've experienced it myself, I'm a pretty extravagant spender when you consider the fact that my pay grade is a little over the lower middle income class. Which oftentimes lead me to lose money in the middle of the month, sometimes even from expenses that I couldn't backtrack for the life of me, that almost always leads me to borrow from my investments just to get by. Honestly speaking I haven't gotten out of this cycle just yet but the I'm slowly getting the hang of budgeting and keeping track of my monthly expenses. One thing I do notice though is how everything gets more expensive over time, possibly due to the effects of inflation, so simple budgeting and tracking of expenses wouldn't cut it, you have to have a pretty extensive grasp of financial literacy in order to understand and apply it on a fundamental level.
1084  Economy / Economics / Re: High Profile Collapse - Silveragte now Shuts the door! on: March 10, 2023, 07:16:52 PM
I do not expect that the worst will come because it is a slow death, and therefore the loss will be great at the moment of the announcement, and the rate of exposed companies will decline over time.
I hope that what happens is not a domino stone, so that all fall and it will have a domino effect if a large stone falls, meaning the bankruptcy of a platform or service that represents one of the largest 20 platforms or cryptocurrency service providers. If this happens in the coming months, then things will suddenly be bad.

The lesson learned is that those companies generating profits from selling their tokens is wrong, and depositing in those companies to get profits is another mistake.
Looking at how the market fares these days, I don't think a domino effect is imminent considering that this news is already a few days old too, and bitcoin as well as other blue chip cryptocurrencies out there are performing a little better than compared to last year, granted valuation declined these past few days by more or less 7%. In any case, the death of Silvergate is something that the cryptocurrency industry will take years to recuperate, and the fact that the other crypto lender also fell down last year just goes to show how impernanent the industry is in its current form. Newer and better renditions are badly needed to combat issues that we are currently facing.
1085  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is money ruling the world? on: March 10, 2023, 06:37:05 PM
Money is power indeed. But what you do with it defines how powerful you are. You could be as rich as Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos or whoever the heck is on the Forbes' richest people list but if you don't have the proper discipline to actually manage and maintain your wealth, you're as bad as every body else in this world. Money rules the world because it has value, and people hold on to this fabricated concept of value so dearly that they are willing to slave themselves off 5 days a week for more of this, even if it means less time to spend for themselves. I'm not saying that I am not, because truth be told everyone who buys stuff with money is inevitably subject to this cycle, but at the end of the day, we are expected to do it. Money rules this world because we have let it rule us.
1086  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is trading good for beginners? on: March 09, 2023, 10:08:45 PM
Trading is not something that you think of at 3am and immediately do at 6 am. It requires extensive patience and a little background on the market practices. Analysis is a pretty subjective credential as I don't really think anyone's got a good idea of how the market will move tomorrow but I do understand the logic and discipline involved in making predictions and educated guesses. Ultimately I don't mean to gatekeep but to save your friend the trouble of losing all his hard-earned money on something that he barely knows how to operate from, I would highly suggest he take up a couple youtube videos or so to get a clearer understandign of how trading works in general. That way he wouldn't blame you for his losses, and he's also able to tank losses and understand where he went wrong.
1087  Economy / Economics / Re: Could Bitcoin one day become the global reserve currency? on: March 09, 2023, 09:34:47 PM
Bitcoin as it stands today is being used by a lot of companies back and forth as a reserve currency, so the possibility of it becoming the global reserve currency is high. add to this the fact that it is immutable and is ever-deflating in value which means it's not vulnerable against impermanent loss and inflation, making it a top-tier candidate for being a powerful currency and a reserve currency as well in the future. One thing that just gives it trouble is the fact that not a lot of people are aware of its existence, as well as the fact that there is still some semblance of speculation in its valuation, which could steer people away from it upon finding out. at the end of the day, the more people use and recognize it the more it will penetrate the mainstream. So if you want bitcoin to be used casually by everyone you gotta make the effort of spreading the word.
1088  Economy / Economics / Re: War: who benefits and how! on: March 09, 2023, 08:59:07 PM
War is one thing that no society should engage themselves into as its effect is devastating and unforgettable upon generations. When two or more countries are warring it is said that there are other countries that benefits in one way or the other from the war as it prolongs and intensifies, especially economical benefits is one of such.
The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine which has been on for almost a year now and the effects of the war between these two is not only on the two warring countries alone but has gone so far as affecting the economies of many countries of the world that have no involvement or interference in the said war. countries of Europe are experiencing a fall short in gas supply, while those of Africa and other continent suffer from economic downfall as a result of certain products and services that are no longer in-coming due to the war effect.
With this Russia Ukraine war which the effect is felt in almost all parts of the world directly and indirectly, I want to ask are there beneficiaries to this war and in what ways are they benefiting from it.

As I have said before, in the case of Russia and Ukraine, the winner, objectively speaking is who gets the territory of Ukraine after the smoke has cleared out and if Russia still bars the rest of the planet from its oil. These two things are very vital in declaring who wins this tussle. Let's not be poetic here saying no one wins in a war because let's face it, someone does. Otherwise wars wouldn't have been waged in the first place. I think I'm going off a tangent here but my point is that there's economy in war, and there's money to be made in businesses like these. Plus add to this the fact that this is a war waged for territory and resources too, so when all of this is said and done and a winner is objectively determined, the one who gets to keep the other's stuff while retaining theirs will win.
1089  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel selling your BTC against your plans? on: March 09, 2023, 08:14:00 PM
Well not the best feelings to put simply. Especially when I remember that it's so much harder putting back money in your investments than taking them out, especially during my beginner days as a cryptocurrency trader. But as time went by and the money became right, I grew indifferent with taking some money temporarily out of my investments, coz I know as a salaryman first and a bitcoin/crypto trader second I could recuperate the money one way or another. Which is why I always advise that besides diversifying your portfolio, you should also diversify your sources of income. Sticking on one income plan doesn't work anymore these days, at least for me so I prompted to find another source so I don't starve to death and I still have a means to fund my investments in the process.
1090  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will accepting cryptocurrency as a payment be profitable for business? on: March 09, 2023, 07:36:00 PM
In all honesty, I don't think it is. To maintain a payment channel is costly, moreso something as obscure as bitcoin, and when you do have people who'd pay for it, you also have to take into account transaction fees and all that stuff. I understand visionaries frowning at this but as of late that's just how I see the logic when it comes to paying with bitcoin. It will especially be detrimental for small-time businesses, which is why I don't really advise it for such. For much larger businesses I do think this could work especially if they have a few holdings of bitcoin of their own. At the end of the day it's not about the profit when you come to implement bitcoin payments for your products or service. You do it from principle.
1091  Economy / Economics / Re: Monthly or weekly pay? Fixed or percentage earning? what is your prefrence. on: March 07, 2023, 08:40:58 PM
In any case, As a freelancer I would remain choosing commissions-based pay, since with consistent effort and trust from your clients, you can easily make a living and have savings to boot in this industry, however, it is something that I would not recommend for everyone, especially ones that seek to be employed in order to pay off debts, get by on a daily basis, or to support their families. It is not reliable enough to perform and offer all those three, plus it takes experience and some confidence to break away from the 9-5 cycle in order to be successful here. So I suggest people who aspire to freelance to gather up experience and years first, before jumping into this industry, and wishing for commission-based payments.
I really like what you have conveyed in your writing. and the advice you say is also very reasonable and seems to be reliable. Becoming a Freelancer is indeed not as easy as imagined by people who have not tried it. Because Freelancers are required to work harder and continue to develop themselves so they can have more income. it takes patience and tenacity. but on the one hand this work also offers freedom. but indeed not everyone can do this type of work and pay. it takes a mentality that is strong enough also in this job.
Well, what I wrote about pretty much comes from experience really. I've been stuck in this deadend job at a call center for a good while, and while in there I relished about the times that I could enjoy my life without being dependent on if my leaves will be permitted. This drove me to take on freelancing, and I shit you not was it one of the worst and the best decisions of my life. It took me more or less a year to build reputation and gain consistent stream of clients since the services I offer aren't what you would consider an essential in the corporate setting. So I pretty much had to live most of my early freelancing days on instant ramen and baked mac and cheese if I feel like balling a little. Til then things just got a little easier for me, and it has led me to this freedom and financial capacity that I currently enjoy.
1092  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time is the most valuable thing on: March 07, 2023, 08:00:56 PM
Bitcoin offers multiple forms of freedom. Financial, Freedom from the vicious rat race insinuated by the corporate world and the society that compels you to stick yourself into it, among others. I too have been a corporate slave for a good 2 years of my life, until my friends told me about the existence of stocks, bonds, and then cryptocurrency. I got attached quite quickly with cryptocurrency due its non-discriminative nature and the ease of access it offers unlike stocks and bonds investment. I really felt alive for once when I got that first fat paycheck and said to myself that I'd do myself to build a reputation and retain this form of lifestyle. You can say that we share the same sentiments about bitcoin, especially when it comes to the discussion of how it freed us from the shackles we were once tied down from.
1093  Economy / Economics / Re: Cheap food: can you beat this price in your country? on: March 06, 2023, 07:49:46 PM
In my country there are eateries that are already cheap in and of themselves, offering a full meal for as low as 2 dollars, Viand, a cup of rice that you can add more of for more or less 20 cents. But if you're really tight on the budget you can buy a half meal for a dollar, which is not that filling but is enough to get you through a few hours without food. I don't want this to be seen as a sign of resilience or the human capacity to be resourceful because heck, I firmly belief you shouldn't cheap out on what you put in your mouth. Your food is what would get you through the day, if you eat shit food you'd have a shitty performance and a shitty day. That being said I understand the concept of abject poverty so there's that.
1094  Economy / Economics / Re: War: who benefits and how! on: March 06, 2023, 07:10:38 PM
Winning country. Dominance.
But obviously, none of them are winning. Wars are not really beneficial and will never be necessary. Bigger problems will just arise and will just make the possibility for things to be followed by other countries as well. Hundreds and thousands of lives are being killed during a war. Economic crises are also being a struggle during such thing. It will also take long amount of time to completely recover and before making use of the dominance won over the other countries. This is just how power is being percieved by some countries who are used on solving inter country problems with brute force.  We're done with colonialism, we should never go back again with the time wherein killing and mass destruction are considered to be a solution.
There's money to be made in these types of conflict. Just right now, Russia's barring of oil on opposing countries surged its price and had made it even more valuable in the public market, not to mention the fact that there's the weapons dealership too, as well as other points of profit that entities use and abuse in times of crisis. Ultimately, in the case of Russia's war against Ukraine, which was done for the sole purpose of invading and absorbing the latter's territory for its resources and access to other geo-political factors, the prize here comes in the form of Ukraine. Never mind the lives lost, or the lives devastated by this conflict (I'm being sarcastic), land's more valuable than people's lives anyway.

1097  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin, Privacy, Mixers on: March 05, 2023, 07:31:39 PM
One of the best things that happened to our financial well being is getting to use & have bitcoin plus other cryptos of course, and the privilege  of some privacy as we spend and receive without giving out personal information thanks to its pseudo nature . But one business industry that has built its success around this are mixers, how do these guys really make their money without really advertising aggressively to increase their profit margins and who are the most likely clients to this business... And lastly in terms of protecting a user's footprints, can a domain host give (sell) out this information to third parties ?
Some mixers charge some fee apart from the transaction fees that you pay in the network to maintain operation costs and keep their employees paid. Others depend on Adsense which is why some mixers either employ the use of popup ads that come up every so often to confirm transactions, or the sidebar ads you see on some irreputable sites out there. Some like chipmixer, depend on the people's goodwill by asking for donations. So far Chipmixer's the only mixer I ever saw have success in this business model as not everyone will have the capacity let alone the conscience to donate. Long as they get what they want they call it quits and run off. Still, I guess most mixers employ the use of using multiple wallets, to mix and clean cryptocurrencies, but with enough dedication and redbull every transactions can still be tracked back to its source, it's just a matter of how good a mixer the site is, and if the coins you wanna get mixed came from scams, cos most mixers are now more inclined to helping the people rather than the scammers, and will freeze assets soon as they detect it came from fraudulent means.
1098  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think BTC would rise again? on: March 05, 2023, 06:57:23 PM
Bitcoin started the year strong from a depressing and arguably hard to redeem year end, due to the fact that FTX made some pretty disastrous moves that were shed to light just last year, most of which involve the mismanagement of funds and when things went south, people couldn't withdraw their money which lead to further collapse and loss of confidence over bitcoin. Still, as the first part of my reply states, bitcoin surprisingly recovered and has since been retaining a relatively high price point at 20k. With the halving coming in next year there is a good possibility that bitcoin would be able to recover from its $60k ATH price point for a while before stabilizing once again, if things go really well we might even see it go as much as $80k or maybe even reach the coveted $100k mark.
1099  Economy / Economics / Re: Money and education on: March 04, 2023, 11:44:39 PM
With the way things go nowadays, especially since remote work is forcefully implemented by the prior pandemic, I think you could pretty much carry on studying for your degree whilst earning a little for survival and a little for savings. There are sites out there that offer remote work for people who are like you. And gone are the days when employers discriminate against new-hires or people with no employment history, especially in the Virtual Assistance industry. I suggest you try going to upwork and creating an account there to offer your services. I'm pretty sure you're talented, the world needs a lot of talented people now more than ever as every sector in technology advances faster than the whole world could keep up.
1100  Economy / Economics / Re: Money is for the important things on: March 04, 2023, 11:06:53 PM
Money is meant to be spent. The whole point of saving money is so you can spend more in the future, or maybe afford something that you've been meaning to buy for a while. Personally, I wouldn't advise saving money for something that you wanna buy, especially if it's beyond your means and it's only going to be a liability, like owning a car or a new smartphone, but you do you really. It's just that, as someone who grew up virtually in poverty, I had this mindset ingrained in me that "money is supposed to be spent, but not wasted" so I make every cent count and then grew up to have a notion that's similar to Akon's, where if you can't buy more of the stuff you wanna buy in one go, like a car for example, you shouldn't buy it, because it is beyond your means.
