1261  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My concern of security when using casino houses. on: December 14, 2022, 09:59:17 PM
I've had friends call me late at night to pick them up after winning a lot of money at casinos.  It's a genuine concern.  People will stake out winners and jump them in parking lots to steal winnings.  Casinos especially seem to have some of the shadiest customer bases of any place I can think of.  They also stay open late at night.  If you've got a ton of cash on you and it's late at night, walking through giant parking lots probably isn't the best idea.  Where I live you can carry a gun so it isn't the worst thing to have to do, but if you're able, having a friend who can pick you up right at the exit is the way to go.
Goes to show how crime-riddled your neighborhood or their neighborhood is. If they had to call you in the dead of the night just to ask for a ride so they can home safely, it means that no one can be trusted or they don't trust anyone outside, their house, not even the ones who's supposed to keep them safe like the cab drivers or whatnot. You're right too with the fact that carrying a gun adds a little peace of mind for when stuff like this happens but if the guy has a gun too, there's still that risk. This is the very same reason I don't gamble that much in casinos anymore. The fear of dying just because I carry cash with me is too much for the risk. At least with online gambling, I still get to keep my life with me if I do get hacked and I lose my funds.
1262  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Using Bonus Buy or Not Using Bonus Buy? on: December 14, 2022, 09:04:42 PM
I have often played slot games at some trusted casinos these past few days. While playing, I often buy Bonus Buys and I do that in many slot games.

Which is the most profitable or generates the most profit between buying a Bonus Buy or playing normally without buying a Bonus Buy?

This made me curious because I tried it in several games such as Gate of Olympus, Mental, Fire in the Hole, Sword of Ares, Land of Zenith and others. And I see that buying Bonus Buy is more profitable. Is it really like that? What slot games often allow you to win more money by using Bonus Buy?

Note: Buying Bonus Buy allows us to win more money, while playing normally does not guarantee we can win some money.
I think bonus buys only give you a little ump on winnings, not give you a higher chance at winning itself. So for some it may seem as if what you're doing is a little wasteful, because you could've just carried on and bagged wins without buying bonus buys and the fact that it still doesn't even guarantee winning is a little sad as well. Simply put this is a double-edged sword that some gamblers just wouldn't see themselves using, since for them the risks outweigh the benefits. I myself wouldn't really buy bonuses even if my life depended on it because again, I can carry on playing slots without having to spend extra.
1263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FTX drama stressing people for no reason | How to stay neutral on: December 14, 2022, 08:18:44 PM
Recently I have been seeing a lot of people who are key crypto players for the past few years, backing away from cryptocurrency & mining. I have a few bitcoins, but I have never trusted any exchange. I have bought BTC from people only and currently, it is in my own hands [technically speaking]. I get the whole FTX issue, but if you really are into Bitcoin & crypto, then why haven't you kept your exchange wallets in check? I personally almost never used exchanges. P2P is what bitcoin is really about.

People lost millions, now many key players are backing off. No comments on that as it is a personal choice, yet spreading negativity on youtube & Twitter about the same is pointless. If you have lost something, then somewhere it is also your responsibility. FTX is responsible for cheating people, but people now making videos about why everyone should back off from crypto is not right & is spreading unnecessary chaos in the market. I am not an expert, but this is simply stupid.

There are a lot of channels[pretty big] that praised Bitcoin & mining now backslashing it & people are really getting carried away with this. Bitcoin to the market is just an emotional asset, however, there is more to it but only if people try to see it. Do not get carried away. Think wisely & use proper data.

Most of the NEWS is fake & is a decoy from the government to get people out of Bitcoin.

People who have lost money in this crash will inevitably face stress and depression. They just lost money, they can't help it. People who spread FUD and hate against cryptocurrency because of issues like these surfacing in the mainstream media could be controlled however, be made to realize that bitcoin isn't all scams and taking advantage of poor average joes all for the benefit of a single person. It's a good thing that for one, SBF is already arrested and is projected to face consequences for actions he committed that led to the demise of this massive exchange. So the future is looking a little bright than what people would expect.
1264  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Proof Of Income Will This Pass on: December 14, 2022, 06:56:57 PM
Ok, suddenly the casino you're playing asks you for proof of income to be able to withdraw your winnings and to keep your account in good standing, your bankroll every month is $500 and you provide proof of salary that you are making $500 net every month, will they accept that proof will they accept that you are putting all your salary for gambling, will this violate the principle of gamble for fun, because you are working to gamble based on your proof income.
I'm not sure about it but I don't think the gambling site will be that keen to review your expenses upon your issuance of Proof of Income. It's all a matter of self-principle. You yourself feel like you're doing too much and have begun to spend most if not all of your money in gambling. The casino could care less about where you put your money. They just need the proof of income to make sure you are not a robot or a hacker if I'm not mistaken. So as a for fun gambler, if you feel like you have already gone too far, so as to spend all your salary for gambling, maybe how the gambling site thinks of your expense report should be the least of your concern. You should have yourself checked to a therapist or a psychiatrist because that could be a defining sign you are addicted.
1265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will digital dollar be a threat to bitcoin? on: December 13, 2022, 09:40:45 PM
I came across this on the news today, and I wonder if this will be a challenge to the growth of crypto in the united states with the government beginning to consider the digital dollar.
Quote
The White House is particularly targeting the proof-of-work transaction-validation process used by many blockchains, including bitcoin. This mechanism consumes huge amounts of energy because it requires a lot of computing power.

And with everything else, the administration is pushing for a digital dollar, a kind of digital twin of the dollar, at a time when China has taken a step ahead on this issue
Read here
Do you think with the level of civilization in the united states, that the digital dollar will be successful?
If Digital Dollar could be used outside of US with little to no restrictions and a lower transaction fee for that matter, Digital Dollar may be on par with bitcoin's utilities, but I doubt that would be the case cause the capitalist instinct is to always make parameters that will yield the person profit no matter what. Bitcoin on the other hand, although pricey, is very much usable overseas and to top it all off, anonymous, protecting its users privacy with utmost care. Digital Dollar will fall short on this as verification will be needed no matter what to make overseas payments and transactions. In the long run, Digital Dollar will see usage amongst the people, but if bitcoin continues to get the support that it gets right now, it will slowly regain traction.
1266  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why every casino got bad habits? on: December 13, 2022, 08:03:06 PM
If you have a look at the scam accusation section, you will find that no casino has a good reputation there. Each and every casino which has their ANN thread here, has at least one complaint against them; sometimes confiscated funds, delayed withdrawal, not paying the winning, freezing account etc. Why this is the principal of all the casinos? Why they can't operate without having any issues? They always do this shit; who knows what has been done with people who don't know how to deal with such a casino. Can you show me a thread that never had any reputation issues on this forum?
In my opinion, there is no single gambling site that is perfect when it comes to taking care of their customers. Every one has their own set of shortcomings and things that they completely lack. What sets good gambling companies from bad ones are in my opinion, how they deal with customer painpoints. There are casinos whose complaints of their customers fall on deaf ears, and there are some who go above and beyond in making sure that the customer's experience is turned around for the better. You should look out for these types of casinos because when push comes to shove and things go awry, you can always rely on these casinos to help you when you are in need and not leave you hanging. It's basically just like choosing your cellphone provider in some sense.
1267  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Create wealth first before the use of bitcoin on: December 13, 2022, 06:22:00 PM
I have always come across people giving stories to promote bitcoin or give awareness of bitcoin in rural areas. It is a very nice job to tell people about bitcoin because it is the major currency in the world.  In this rural area how can bitcoin be used when majority of people in the the town are battling with poverty,  and how can bitcoin be used when majority don't have access to Internet.  I think people in rural area needs to be financially stable first before knowing bitcoin.
There's a difference between spreading awareness about the uses of bitcoin and spreading awareness of how bitcoin is profitable. There are programs conducted in rural areas in my country where people get free lessons on how cryptocurrency works and how they can utilize it to better their businesses, transaction processes, connectivity, and more, but never giving much focus on how profitable it could be so as to not bait people into thinking bitcoin is their solution to get out of poverty. The way people make bitcoin as nowadays is as if it's the solution to their many financial problems which it definitely isn't. As a matter of fact it could even cause you some problems in the long run especially if you aren't really familiar with the inner workings of the cryptocurrency world. So you should make sure that you don't do the latter.
1268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will Sam Bankman-Fried go to jail? on: December 13, 2022, 04:03:37 PM
You would be happy to hear that the once dubbed "most generous billionaire" is now apprehended by the Bahaman Police Authority. Though this is just a drop of water against the sea of consequences he should be facing after accidentally admitting guilt from defrauding people of their hard-earned money following FTX's collapse, this is still a good start. I just hope that the US justice system couldn't be bought by these people, considering that he has donated millions of dollars to some politicians to earn their favor and trust, alongside having competent law professors for parents.
As of today he is arrested and was requested extradition to US. I am not sure if that is the real reason why BTC have gone up to $17,800+ as of this time of writing and Ethereum around $1,340+. This could be a bull trap or a dead cat bounce which only leads to a temporary pump before correcting again. Just my opinion.
I wouldn't be so certain about saying this could be the cause of bitcoin recovering a bit, it's still a long way to go and I don't think SBF's arrest would do much about bitcoin's price honestly. Although that being said his apprehension is a good thing and could connote even more greater things in the future for cryptocurrency.
1269  Economy / Economics / Re: Use your money wisely. Invest or Deposit ? on: December 12, 2022, 09:29:04 PM
Now you have $100,000 in your account, pure savings, and you don't need this amount of money to cover your daily expenses. Obviously it's good/free money to use at will. Let's say if you deposit the money into a bank and the annual interst rate is 3%, you will get a steady interest income year by year. If you use this money to buy Bitcoin, let's say the BTC drops to $17,000, you'll buy less than 6 Bitcoins. In the long run, what would you do with this money ? And why ?
I think you should diversify. $100000 is a lot of money to be sitting around doing nothing, and it could cover a wider array of assets on your portfolio. That being said, you could invest some of it in real estate if possible, deposit some of it on a percentage that is your discretion to emergency funds, and last but not least some of it in crypto and a safety deposit. To cover everything means to win at everything, at least if one of those fail you still have a couple of assets that you could rely on when push comes to shove. You should never have to choose between saving and investing with that amount of money, and investing it all is a big risk, depositing it all in a bank is a waste of potential profit as well. Aim for the middle ground.
1270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin Survive A Nuclear War? on: December 12, 2022, 08:26:16 PM
What do you think about it? I read this article in the Market Times https://markettimes.co.uk/cryptocurrencies/would-bitcoin-survive-a-nuclear-war/ and in my opinion I don't see a future 'cause to have access to the bitcoin you need internet
Due to its decentralized nature, as long as the internet remains relevant and we are still able to access it bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies will still be available for use. Bitcoin could and would survive a nuclear war long as there's people who would still be able to use it of course, and as long as the internet, or at least parts of it are still intact.
If a nuclear war stroke, the banking and monetary systems would be devastated, saying nothing of fiat, which would be significantly devalued by the war. This does not exist for decentralized Bitcoin.
I don't think monetary system would collapse, in my opinion it would become stronger than ever because money would be the biggest currency of the war, alongside soldiers and military prowess. Countless wars are won because you have money, I don't think this would not be the case even if a nuclear war stuck the planet. People will still find ways to use fiat just like the bottle caps on Fallout.
1271  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto Currency should be Integrated into School Curriculum on: December 12, 2022, 07:33:19 PM
After reading so many theories, Analysis and the powers of crypto currency in a nation's economy, the greater impact it will bring to developed and fast developing countries. I began to wonder why is crypto currency not accepted in some area's and organization of the world, can we characterized this as lack of information, and awareness to the people. If this be the case, Can we find a way to adopted Crypto Currency as a Subject and integrate it into our school curriculum, or better still as topic and integrate it into Economy's. This has been on my mind, And I honestly need your contribution and your thoughts towards this. I honestly think crypto currency, BTC and ETH for example. Should be adopted globally and accepted by everyone. Thanks
There are a couple of educational institutions who have acknowledged bitcoin and cryptocurrency, so much so that they included it in lessons and curriculum. Though these institutions are few and far between given that the government passively vetoes the use of it and in conjunction, the teaching of how to use it as well as its benefit. They'd soon realize how futile their efforts were though, especially as we are undergoing a paradigm shift in everything including the education system, where more and more learners are in the know of what they wanna know and what they don't want to. The adoption process will take time, but the fact that we are already seeing institutions like the ones I have told earlier be open and receptive about teaching crypto is a good sign that we are on our way there.
1272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good days to bitcoin will be back soon. on: December 12, 2022, 05:50:36 PM
Recent fall of FTX shook the crypto ecosystem Also It has come as a lesson for crypto world, though an expensive one.

There are many crypto assets that are currently in the market and are backed by nothing. This has shown that when it becomes too risky to invest in shit coins and why we should avoid it.

Moreover it's becoming clearer that in future a lot of shit coins are going to fall on their face and wipe out from the system.

The fall of FTX also showed the lacuna of POS as well. While ethereum moved to POS. I believe it has in one way or other affected the crypto ecosystem to lead to this fall.

Believe it or not the future is of crypto regulations. The thousands of crypto projects which have been launched without any meaningful backing are going to fall on face.
It's time of retribution for those altcoins

All the naysaying  and scepticism of bitcoin will going to end soon. As in a well regulated market only are few currencies will be traded. And for sure bitcoin will lead from front.
Bitcoin is in a cycle of death and rebirth ever since it gained public traction. Not too long ago we experienced once of the worst bear markets in history, dropping bitcoin's value to almost below the 10k support price, yet in a few short months the market bounced back and bitcoin achieved high value status and set a new all time high at around 60k. I don't think strong hands are afraid of another dump or whatever. We've seen this kind of stuff back then and this wouldn't be our last bear market so to speak, there'd be more chances of bitcoin recovering now more than ever and as the halving nears, this only gets more possible by the day.

As for the tragedies that happened in the cryptocurrency world. it is a price to pay for being one of the most profitable ventures out there, people will be out there to criticize you and some to take advantage of your lenient nature to scam people off of their hard-earned money. My heart goes for the people who have lost their investments after the crash, but believe me when I say that we will bounce back sooner than you expect.
1273  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: gambling techniques on: December 12, 2022, 04:03:58 PM
You may be talking about following martingale method. Where a gambler loses once and next time he will be able to recover the profit along with his loss. Here the probability of winning will increase as well as the amount of loss will be higher. However, if a gambler calculates his total assets from the beginning and apply this strategy he can make good profit by his gambling carer. But conducting gambling i think a specific strategy should not be used continuously.

I would stay well away from strategies like martingale, because this strategy does not work, if a person starts playing in casinos and when he loses money he starts chasing losses then that person will go bankrupt, for example that person has 10$, bets 1$ and loses, then bets 2$ and loses, then bets, 4$ loses, he will already be bankrupt, using martingale, I honestly do not see how anyone can still trust and use this strategy called martigale, I stopped using it years because I haven't seen any good results, I remember that at that time I was faucet and searching videos on youtube how to earn more jo freebitcoin, so many people talked about martingale in the HI-LO game and I lost everything, and I was frustrated because I spent a lot of time making a faucet and in the end I lost in the HI-LO game
in a way or two it does work but for Martingale Strategy to work accordingly you must have the capability to shoulder the next double up when you lose. This is where most people fail to comply. You won't be able to win big in Martingale Strat if you couldn't high roll that's why it's not the best strategy to use for casual players. Oh well, what works for someone may not work for me. Anyhow, A strategy that I use in order to prevent huge losses and be able to still bag wins is a strat I saw someone say here in the forum. They only allow themselves 3 losses and 3 wins everyday. That way if they lose 3 times they can push back and keep themselves from falling down the hole of desperation, on the other hand, winning 3 times and calling it a day ensures that all his victories for the day is bagged and that he is not at a loss.
1274  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin or altcoin? on: December 11, 2022, 07:45:24 PM

for the long term. I'm not interested in altcoins. except for a few. and based on my analysis, which is a beginner and doesn't have much experience. I see Bitcoin alone really struggling to stay decentralized and against being centralized. whereas altcoins most of them pretend to be decentralized but in reality are close to centralized. but I don't know what's next. but for me altcoins that use the POS system are close to centralized. although there are still altcoins with a PoW system. but still I am not sure to hold it long term. but I'm not a hypocrite if I hold some just for speculation and see potential in the near future and not for the long term.
someone said to me that altcoins are like the penny stocks of the cryptocurrency industry. They are dirt-cheap, with high profit implications, but are most of the time doomed to fail given their weak nature and the fact that some of them are just there for memes. I am not saying that altcoins are bad, in fact I would argue that without altcoins the cryptocurrency industry wouldn't advance and progress to its current state. It's just that you need to be very meticulous in choosing which altcoins you are to invest because trusting a failing coin is the biggest mistake you can make. Altcoins are good for their own rights, so is bitcoin and ethereum.
1275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Strong Hands Are Buying on: December 11, 2022, 06:27:24 PM
I believe that has been the case since time immemorial. People who are aware of how the market works will always find the best opportune time to buy more and more crypto so they could profit once the bull market kicks in.

You do not need to be rich in order to be "a strong hand."

Strong hands tend to have plans and they do not sell on the way down and they tend to buy on the way down rather than being scared, but they do not need to be rich in order to be "a strong hand."

True. Holding 0.1BTC for more than 2 years makes you a strong hand. Investing in bitcoin should not be a game of who has the most, but who has.
It's a funny thing, but I've been here when people were gathering in those 100 bitcoin clubs because owning 100 BTC meant you have around $100k invested, which according to those people made uou special, a part of the elite.
Nowadays we're coming closer and closer to a situation where an owner of a single bitcoin is a member of the elite.
Agree on both of you. The fact that people misconceive huge bagholders and whales for strong hands are a common trope in this industry. Everyone and anyone can be a strong hand as long as they have the guts to hold their coins for a very long time. and it's not like bitcoin isn't trustworthy. The cryptocurrency literally made millionaires in the past and is set to make another batch of millionaires soon as the bear market comes to pass. Not saying that everyone who has holdings on bitcoin will become millionaires someday, but what I'm saying is that these people didn't get their millions from pulling their investments out at the first sign of a decline or stagnation in price.
1276  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever tried Anti Martingale Strategy? on: December 11, 2022, 05:32:33 PM
In martingale, a gambler increases the bet size to double in the hope to recover the loss from the previous bet. I have tried it a few times & to be honest with you, I have never had a good return on my bets; I have lost most of the time.
On the other hand, the Anti martingale strategy is- to double the bet size when you are winning & halving the bet size when you are losing. In such a condition, when you are winning; you are doubling the size & you will lose from your winning. WEell, this strategy is more risky I guess though some have told it as less risky than martingale.
Have you ever tried ti? What's your opinion? Which one is more risky; Martingale or Anti Martingale?
I think that would just work all the same as the regular martingale strategy. If you win and you double down you're basically asking to lose everything the next turn. The other side of this strategy doesn't work well in practice as well, as you'd literally cost yourself higher wins for less losses. I hear you and I myself enjoy winning when I am gambling, so why not instead of applying an "anti" to the current strategy that works for high rollers, how about you try my discipline I found on one of the people in this forum. You win 3 times, you call it a day. You lose 3 times, you call it a day. That literally will allow you to pull yourself away from certain addiction, while at the same time ensuring that you don't lose that much, and you get to take your wins home as well.
1277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What could have Satoshi faced if he made himself known from the beginning on: December 10, 2022, 10:46:13 PM
I must say that I'm now a Bitcoin addict and an ardent fan/supporter of Satoshi Nakamoto and the good initiative Bitcoin technology has brought to the world. But there are these questions that have been ringing in my head day and night as I continue to be curious about this man/men that brought this revolution to the financial space.

I would like people to furnish me with their views even though I personally believe that he would have been haunted by the world governments at the initial stage.

What could have been his fate if he made himself known from the beginning? And later after Bitcoin is recognized?
For one, critics of bitcoin would have a face to antagonize and berate against, interpol as well as other countries that banned the usage and proliferation of bitcoin in their respective countries will have a person to blame, and even us people who support bitcoin may find ourselves hating on him/her when things go south. They would also be followed 24/7 by secret organizations powered by governments and will be under surveillance for the rest of their lives. I don't think them outing themselves would do any good for bitcoin, and would instead just put them in the hotseat, so opting to keep their identity is a smart move on Satoshi's part.
1278  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: December 10, 2022, 09:13:56 PM
ChatGPT is all the rage at the moment. I’ve seen that people are asking it to predict sporting events. Would you leave gambling decisions up to artificial intelligence? Do you see any potential drawbacks for outsourcing your bets to a software program? Has anyone here tried this yet? Do we need someone to put together a thread of ChatGPT predictions to see how accurate they are?  Any other thoughts?
I've had a friend tell me about ChatGPT but it was only in this post that I found out it was also being used to predict gambling outcomes. Honestly it would be something I would chip in as well if not only for the fact that it is still in its infancy, and certain prompts may skew the results into undesirable outcomes. That being said once it becomes more mature and more accurate with its predictions I can see myself using ChatGPT to aid in my bets because who doesn't love a good win right? That is at least provided that it doesn't get shut down by big boy tech companies.
1279  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Gambing Halal or Haram According to Jewish Or Christian Faith? on: December 10, 2022, 05:52:52 PM
I know that this is very silly and religious question but I think that this should be Discussed.
According to me, As I am Muslim, Gambling is Haram and there are very reasons behind this. And also I do not much about another religions. But if someone has knowledge about that if Gambling is allowed or prohibited in Jewish or Christ Faith. And I think many people have many mind sets.
I do not want to hurt someone's feeling by talking about Religious Comments.

I think the matter of whether the act of gambling is a sin or not in the Judeo-Christian Faith lies on the fact that some Christians condone the act of gambling, as it is adjacent to the act of worshipping money, something that the Messiah entirely antagonized during one of his lessons. But some of these new-founded congregations seem to be lenient in the act of gambling and does not see it as a grave sin as it was back then. Anyhow, church leaders are tight-lipped in this matter, especially because if they say it's because money is the root of all evil, they'd make it as if they are outing themselves as evil organizations that profit from the pockets of their followers. So for the Judeo-Christian faith, there's really a complicated discussion for whether gambling is bad and should not be done.
1280  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Types Of Online Casinos To Avoid.. on: December 10, 2022, 04:53:56 PM

Online Casinos Without Online Presence/Community

From my observations, I think online casinos without online presence or community of users are likely to scam any user and get away with it easily, and it doesn't matter if they have a high trust rating, this is because when they refuse to process your withdrawal and the customer support is not responding or not helping, the user in reality have no place to complain that will force the casino to pay him of lose a great number of their users if not all...

Like for example, if a casino have a community on bitcointalk, and you are a user of that casino, at any time you have an issue with that casino and the customer support is not helping, bringing such issue to their community on bitcointalk will force the casino to find solution(s) immediately so that they don't lose their other customers in the case where they are the ones at fault..

But a casino without any kind of community anyway, if as a user, you encounter any problems and the customer refuse to help you, you are absolutely helpless, and complaining on forums where the casino is not even known won't help because it does not affect the casino on their business, they probably won't see your complaints, neither would their other customers do, so certainly, they won't answer and their other customers also don't know what is going on.. So it is best to avoid such casinos in my best opinion..

This is just one out of many types of online casinos to avoid, so let's make the discussion long, what other types of online casinos do you think gamblers should avoid? You never can tell, your advice might help someone in a short of long way.
I get where you are coming from but let me play the devil's advocate here. Trust rating should always be taken at face value and not be interpreted any other way. The matter with whether these ratings are manipulated or not is out of the question because if that is so then there's a good possibility that all gambling sites out there with an extensive community may as well skew the ratings to their favor. What I would highly suggest you look out for in a gambling casino is their customer service. A customer service that is subpar or non-existent is a telltale sign that something awry is afoot. Meanwhile like a post I saw here back then, if their customer service is great enough that even in forums like these they can help you once a complaint is made then that is a surefire sign you're in a fair and legit casino.
