1681  Economy / Economics / Re: 5 things you should not do with your money to get rich on: October 31, 2022, 02:46:41 PM
Good summary of things we should avoid doing with our money. I wouldn't go so far to say  that these are the main reason that we are not becoming rich, because even when we follow all points it's not guaranteed that we will become rich one day. To be rich is very hard to achieve and it requires a lot of luck in my opinion. Having a well paid job is a good start, and even then it's going to take a long time. I like your 4. Point the most:

Quote
4. Don't waste money on useless things

Saving money and controlling our spending habits is  good way to get our personal finances in order. I learned this myself the hard way. It happened so often in the past that I see something on TV and wanted to have it myself immediately, only to find out after a month that I didn't really need it in the first place. That's why I wait now 3 months before buying everything bigger, and if I survive the 3 months without much hassle than I don't really need it and will not make the purchase.
1682  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mining ban in Europe on: October 29, 2022, 02:43:06 PM
Can this affect the price of bitcoin or is this another anti-mining statement?

This would be terrible for the crypto community and I hope it's not going to happen. The number of crypto investors is much higher than the 10% share Europeans have on mining. If mining would be banned now in Europe this would create a lot of uncertainty about the future of cryptos all together. At the beginning of the year there was already a campaign in the EU parliament to regulate cryptos more heavily. All theae anti crypto movements is making investors more cautious and will lead to some of them selling their holdings. After the ban we will see a drop in prices for sure. The last few attempts by European politicians to regulate crypto currencies could be prevented by the majority. And right now it seems that nuclear energy is becoming the main focus again to provide energy in the future, it's one of the cheapest energy sources. This will hopefully take away some of the pressure crypto mining gets in Europe.
1683  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino games plebs like us must play on: October 29, 2022, 02:41:18 PM
Although, a warning. The house edge may be low, BUT there's still a house edge! Managing your capital is MORE IMPORTANT than the favorite game to play.

It's true every game on a casino has a house edge. That's how the casino makes money over time. Even poker a game which is only played against other gamblers has a fee that the casino collects for the infrastructure and services they provide for us to gamble. When playing blackjack we can influence the house edge with our strategy. The more optimal we play the lower the winning chances of the house. Unfortunately the best gambling strategy will still not make a save profit, there is anyways luck involved in the games. Blackjack is one of my favourite games as well and I managed to get some decent profits over the years. Having a optimal blackjack strategy together with a martingale approach is what worked best for me. If you are looking for games with a low house edge you can also play some dice and roulette, it's very easy to learn for new players and you can start with only betting on Black/Red or the 50% winning chance. The most important thing we need to focus on in the beginning is not to bet too large, if we face a losing streak the chances are high we could go broke. Better to start small and build a bankroll over time.
1684  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: Der Aktuelle Kursverlauf on: October 29, 2022, 07:00:18 AM

1685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will This Habit Lead You To Chase Your Losses And Addictive To Gambling on: October 29, 2022, 06:46:03 AM
Do you think it's unhealthy to always post your winnings on social media and forums because this habit will lead you to chase your losses and bet more so you can post your winning, I find this habit forming and this is bad especially if people are following you and always looking forward to your winning posts.

Yes in my opinion this is not a good practice and I would not encourage anybody to post a lot of gambling results on social media. First of all, why share your personal gambling experience with the whole world? Do you want to share your gambling results with friends and family, then I would rather send them a summary from time to time and maybe check first if they are really interest in it. It also makes it seem that you are heavily invested in gambling and your family and friends might become worried about you. In case I would share my gambling results with my family online, they would question my decisions and try to talk to me to gamble less. Then again, maybe you have a lot of followers online and positing your results is a form promotion or advertising and you receive money for it. It's important to not try and make more risky bets only with the intention to show them off online and try to look cool. We never know how legit the pictures are in the first place, and maybe someone only posts his winnings and hides all his big losses.
1686  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Leverage investment strategy during bull market on: October 29, 2022, 06:31:38 AM
This question is funny though, but just want to see the opinions of others about this. Or someone should not hold using leverage because of the reason of risks of going for leverage trading for maximising profit?

Using leverage during bull markets is way to risky for my own risk appetite. There are a few factors which make it a not a good idea in my opinion. First of all, markets are not rational during bull markets. You are right that you can maximise your profits using leverage, but it's much harder to predict market movements when investors are irrational. One bad news could send prices flying again. Another factor is that volatility is higher during bull markets, which means price jumps are larger and the chances to get wiped out and your positions being liquidated is also much higher.  The third factor which is against using leverage during bull markets, is that the borrowing cost are rising. At the moment we are seeing interest rates being hiked by central banks all around the world, that increases borrowing cost on loans. The last factor for me is that the opportunity cost have risen during bull markets. With higher interest rates on your bank account you need to make a higher profit in trading to compensate for that. In my opinion it’s better to limit your downside risk during bear markets, I would rather focus on preserving my portfolio than try to maximise profit. During bull markets it’s better to focus on maximising returns as they are more opportunities.
1687  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: gambling techniques on: October 29, 2022, 06:24:05 AM
I would like to have you guys speaking about different gambling techniques so that we can exchange knowledge and improve our winning chances.

I'll leave my simple technique here and I'll hope you guys can leave some more!

I often use the stake doubling technique to several games. I normally do this with dice games and if it played correctly its profitable. What you have to do is simply start with a small stake and every time you lose you double your steak until you win. Once you win, you will recover all the amount you lost. This works if you have enough money to keep doubling your bet, so you should do your math and check with how much you should start. It is not infallible but it works.

Sorry to be a party pooper here, but casino games are designed in the way that the gambler has a negative expected value in the games. There is no strategy that will make consistent money in gambling. The only real proven strategy is card counting in BlackJack and that is banned by all the casinos and they will remove you from the game when they find out. The longer we play the higher our chances that our gambling outcome will diverge to the expected values and this making money for the casino. This doesn't mean that we can't be lucky and make a decent profit in gambling, it just won't be consistent. You are doing the Martingale strategy, doubling your money after every loss. That is the most common strategy I would say and I love it myself, it's great way to keep track of our bet sizes and make sure that we recover our eventually. The problem is of course that there can be long losing streaks that will ruin our bankroll and end up losing us a large amount of money. The money you need to risk is quite large compared to the small profit you make when you win.
1688  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best Strategies for Trading. on: October 29, 2022, 06:16:38 AM
Hello guys. What are the possible Currency pairs trading strategies that a newbie can follow up. It should be from personal observations, beliefs and practices. Thanks.

As a beginner it's very hard to get into trading without any prior knowledge of the crypto market. Sure people can give you their strategy that worked for them in the past, but this no guarantee for you to make any money of it by following it blindly. I would recommend you learn a bit about cryptos first and get slowly in the world of trading to avoid losing a lot of money. Have you done some investing already? In case you hold a crypto portfolio with different alt coins already, it's a good start to trade more actively with them. And if you don't hold any cryptos yet your beginning trades will be Fiat into cryptos. When trading different coins against each other you also need to keep in mind the fiat money you receive your salary in and where you pay all your bills with. For a complete beginner I would recommend to start with the Bitcoin market, it's a good way to get a foothold in the crypto markets and you don't need to worry that prices are going to drop suddenly.
1689  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If you win big in casino, would it be publicized? on: October 29, 2022, 06:04:47 AM
I do not expect gambling sites to be publicising this kind of news. Will gambling site ask for the permission of the winner for the winning to go public? Or the winner can just be anonymous in a way his name will not be mentioned?

I think this depends on which country the casino is based in and how the privacy laws are there. In general though a casino should never be allowed to publish any personal information without the consent of the winner. In my country lottery winners need to be kept anonymous by law, the company is not allowed to publish any names or pictures. The only thing they publish is the age and the City the lottery ticket was purchased in. It's good to keep as much secrecy as possible to protect the winners. In online gambling things are a bit different, I know that leaderboards are quite common at some casino. From there you can find out the big winners each week and month. But this are only usernames without any additional information. Sometimes there are country flags and that's all the information you can get. As long as you don't use your own name as username, everything is private. And if the casino would ever leak your personal information, then there should be a big fine for it to cover all the cost for higher security.
1690  Economy / Economics / Re: In a post abundance economy, which commodities and assets would appreciate most on: October 29, 2022, 05:52:46 AM

Long story short do we have good buy ins aside from firewood and wood stoves?

Firewood is a good idea to store if you have the space did it. You need large amounts of wood if you want to use it as the main source of heating during winter. People who live in an apartment and not a house will probably have issues finding enough space. Storing value in gold and silver is probably the best idea, as long as its in small amounts that would make it easy to trade. One thing that I have started to store at home more is food. If things are going worse in the world and we are going to see more wars and crisis than food could become a commodity by itself that everybody will accept for trading. I am a huge fan of the climbing/military food that is packaged without any water. It has no real expiration date if stored correctly and it takes up no space and is light to carry. Together with a water purification system that you can always filter and get clean water, this is great to prepare for bad times. This would also help a lot if inflation keeps making food even more expensive next year.
1691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Reasons Why We Prefer Online Casinos to Land-based Casinos on: October 29, 2022, 05:44:35 AM
You summarised a lot of valid points why so many people these days prefer gambling online instead of visiting their physical home casino. In my opinion the most dominant factor of the rise of online gambling was the covid pandemic. Having lockdowns all around the world and restricting people from travelling made it almost impossible to visit physical casinos. Then on top of that were the government relief funds which gave money to the businesses which stayed closed during covid. For a long time in my home town the casino was closed, only in the next bugger city 80 km away was still an open casino. That leads to my personal argument why I mainly enjoy online gambling these days, it's so much more comfortable. After a long day at work you can enjoy gambling at home from your couch for 1 hour without any hassle. Comparing that to driving a car for 40 minutes and having to wear a suit to enter is a pretty easy decision for me. When on vacation it's a different story, it's more of a highlight to visit a physical casino and its usually an event for a whole night. At home I use gambling more to relax and to test my luck.
1692  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which Game Have You Won The Most From And How Much In Total? on: October 26, 2022, 06:55:14 AM
2. Which game have you won the most amount of money from?, and how much in total did you win from that game?
Maybe you can also mention the game provider(Pragmatic, Evolution   etc.) so we can search for the game on our respective casinos and try it out.

I wish I had kept better track of all my gambling winnings and losses over the year to have a nice summary now. For more than 10 years I have enjoyed online gambling, unfortunately I don't know how much money I won or lost over all these years. What I do know is that the most money I made from online gambling came from poker, because it's the game I played the most. I spend hours each day grinding online poker tables from 2009-2013 on a lot of different websites. My favourite was FullTiltPoker before it got closed down, I even lost a few hundred Dollars there in the insolvency. I still play from time to time on PokerStars and PartyPoker. The nice thing about PokerStars is that you can use the money you make on poker and place some sports bets. After poker I think I made my second most money with either BlackJack, Dice or sports betting. It's really hard to tell where I made a bigger profit because I have played these games for so long. In sports betting I made a nice profit when Germany and then France won the Worldcup, but I also lost a lot of money there. BlackJack and Dice are more consistent winnings for me, but the money I win there is much lower than in betting. It's really hard to know how much you won or lost if you don't always keep track of your money.
1693  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is happening with Crypto market on: October 25, 2022, 01:45:22 PM
Do you think the bear market will continue until FED will end raise interest rates?

The aggressive interest rate hikes by the FED are a reaction to the high inflation we have this year, so far economics still expect inflation to rise or at least stay on high levels in 2023. That's why the FED could keep raising interest rates higher next year. I do think it has a strong influence on crypto prices and we will probably not going to see a rally in the next several months. But investors are going to need to adjust to the new normality with higher interest rates. 20-30 years ago it was pretty normal to have high interest rates and even if inflation will come down in one year, we will not go back to 0% interest rates. Many investors this year sold their risky assets including cryptos to hold cash instead. This is not a good investment decision over longer periods of time. Inflation will eat up all the value of the cash, that's why investors need to start thinking about reinvesting their money. Once the money comes back into the markets crypto prices should start rise again, even with high interest rates.
1694  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you get over a bad loss? on: October 25, 2022, 01:30:52 PM
What's your favorite thing to do when you get a bad loss?

Depends a bit where I am and who is around me. The first step after a big loss doesn't matter if it's in a physical casino or in online gambling is to take a break. In the past I tried a few times to recover big losses immediately, but that never worked and only lead to losing more money. Now I need at least several days to clear my head and get my emotions back in check. If I don't take a break I keep focusing on my previous loss and will not appreciate any small winnings, and my risk tolerance is not adjusted. The immediate reaction after a big loss in a physical casino is to get drunk with my friends and try to forget everything. I would give a good friend my wallet and tell him to not lot let me gamble again that night. When I am at home and gamble alone than I would close all gambling sites, take some chocolate and chips and retreat to the couch, watch one of my favourite movies and try to sleep after a sugar shock.
1695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I made a mistake shorting BTC at 17k on: October 25, 2022, 01:13:29 PM
Now market is pumping like crazy, its obvious we won't go back to 18k or below.
Good luck to all, i hope you're smarter than me

I don't understand, did you actually short bitcoins or did you only sell all your coins? If you bought your coins in 2020 and sold them now you should have at least made a profit and have 0 exposure now. That's alright you are not losing any money when bitcoin rises again, but you are also not making any profit. In case you actually are short and have a negative exposure to bitcoins, I would recommend you cover your position immediately. It's not really realistic for bitcoins to fall in price. Your potential upside is very limited whereas your downsize is huge. I wouldn't take that risk. You sold almost at the 52 week low, which is never a good idea. Hope you learned from your mistake and will not repeat it. Good luck for your next trade.
1696  Economy / Economics / Re: Eu gas and electricity prices drop 80% to 2021 level, another apocalypse averted on: October 25, 2022, 07:43:33 AM
The gas market this year is going full crazy, I read yesterday the price even turned negative because there is no demand at the moment. The gas storages in Europe are full and there is not a lot of gas consumption, so the LNG ships are at the shores and need space to unload it. A lot of the demand for gas depends on the weather and this year is not normal so far, we had a very cold mid of September only to get warm temperature for the last 2.5 weeks in Europe. Most people are not using heating yet and as long as we have sunny, 20 degrees weather the gas storage will remain full. During summer most countries panic bought all the available gas to fill up storage. Some experts already predict a very mild winter which is going to put more pressure on the gas price. Looks like the bet of Putin to hope high gas prices will put politcial pressure on European countries to start buying Russian gas again failed. So far the world seems to survive without the cheap Russian gas. The only problem I see is that the lower gas price is not going to help the consumers, all of the gas suppliers increased their prices throughout 2022 and will not reduce prices again at the start of the winter. They will rather be happy about the additional profits and not give them to the consumers. Maybe the politcians are going to intervene here, but so far I don't see the inflation being brought down by this. Companies are quick to increase prices and very slow when it comes to lower prices again.
1697  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: October 25, 2022, 07:00:56 AM
A whole week without big CSGO matches is really boring, also the Dota 2 International games are mostly done. No games to watch or bets to place during the week. But I am already looking forward to Sunday Dota games. It's been a while since I placed bets on Dota matches, I usually just watch the summaries for fun and stay active. Team Secret looks really strong this year with their 3 new players. It's crazy how long Puppey's career in Dota is, he is so experienced and a very good captain. From Team Aster I was surprised that they beat PSG LGD 2-0, they could easily win now against Team Liquid. But the match after will be against either Tundra Esports or Team Secret, both of them look stronger. I think I will place a bet on Aster to win next game, and on Team Secret to win the Final. Team Secret lost against Tundra during the Dreamleague games, but that was with the old roaster and they look much stronger now. And in CSGO I am really looking forward to the BIG - Furia match on Monday, it's going to be a very close match and I hope BIG is going to pull through, it will be a nice payout. Also Vitality is playing against Imperial which is going to be a free win for Vitality.
1698  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A disheartening true life winning story on: October 24, 2022, 11:30:38 AM
Can this guy win the case?
Has anyone experienced not being paid for their winning for real?
Why would they take your big money but refuses to pay big winning?
What could be done to curb this cheating permanently in gambling?

It's hard to say what his chances will be to win this case, without knowing the gambling laws in his country. With winnings of above 150,000 USD it makes sense to get an expert lawyer to take care of it. Since he was offered already two times money from the company his chances seem good. The lottery company know they are in the wrong and trying to get a cheap payout. It's good that he declined the payments avd I hope he is documenting everything properly. It shouldn't be an issue for him that the company lost the data for the winnings. If his lottery ticket shows the winning numbers and its legit than he deserves all the money. In my country the lottery company is partially owned by the state and there is no way that they could get out of paying out winnings. The winning numbers are broadcasted on TV and if you have the lottery winning slip with your name on it, its your money. Hopefully he gets all the money and doesn't except a partial payout.
1699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do You Think Bitcoin Mining Will Be Banned Due to Fears of Climate Change? on: October 24, 2022, 11:07:24 AM
I think that not much is changing in the near future when it comes to mining and clean energy sources. There are only a few countries who banned crypto mining and right now the world is focusing on other things than climate change. When it comes to climate change politicians are only willing to invest money and time when the economy is in a boom. And right now we are facing recessions and rising inflation rates. Fossil energy sources are cheaper than alternative energy, so a country can only afford to a certain extend to go green. Maybe at the end of next year things will go back to normal again and the world will focus more on climate change. But right now the focus is to reduce gas as much as possible and increase nuclear energy. Also crypto mining became very popular in the last 2 years, I don't think politicians want to anger voters even more.
1700  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much was your last big win? on: October 24, 2022, 10:48:41 AM
It's been a while since my last big win. I didn't gamble so much as usually this summer/autumn. A big win that comes to mind was a poker Sit'n'Go game 3 months ago where I won 120 USD. I felt great for a week after the win because it was such a hard game and it also took quite a long time to finish. When it comes to Slots, Dice or Roulette I usually bet smaller amounts and even after a good night I only make on average 30 USD. Every win is important and I am grateful for it, but larger winnings are much more satisfying. In BlackJack an Poker is the only two games where I spend more money and can get higher winnings. Except if I would win a jackpot in Slots, one day it has to happen.
