Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Malta is trying to regulate cryptocurrency??

Without more details it is really hard to say what their intentions are. The could be trying to get their foot in the door to regulate cryptos, the could be trying to protect naive investors from scams, or they could have no idea what cryptos are and they are just regulating them because they sound bad.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Energy Based Projects

I think now in the near future will be the implementation of IT projects for mass decentralization, then the market will develop into other industries
I hate to sound negative, but I will believe it when I see it. You can’t have a decentralized power plant unless the whole thing was run by robots controlled by some sort of AI, and in that case I feel there would be plenty of room for bad things to happen. I believe the energy market will be massively changed through the implications of so many customers becoming prosumers instead of remaining consumers - this is part of the large scale revolution taking place in energy - furthermore, the massive utilities are aware of this change and embracing instead of fighting it, with pilot projects with the real entities such as Prosume Energy. That means that there is an immediate head start and inclusion, and then it will boom as more and more people join - then people are not only making their own energy, also selling, making money, decreasing energy cost and waste. All of this based on blockchain and decentralisation. It is the chance of a lifetime - forget all the wannabe energy "projects" that have only slapped blockchain on existing risk models, and go for the real revolutionary future that has already started. There is real upside. Prosume is the first and clearly the one with the most upside. https://prosume.ioAnd I very well could be wrong, but I guess as far as I see it would be very hard to make any mass scale decentralized power grid. Even if people were generating their own power (which I admit is becoming more popular, albeit a bit inefficient), I doubt the electric companies would allow those users to use the company’s power grid independently; and it would have to be nearly impossible to set up your own physical power grid (both financially and getting the rights to build on the roadside). But, then again I cannot predict the future and it could very well happen; I just feel like it’s to big of a feat at the moment.

I have not seen any reliable and specific information about the plans of Bitcoin Gold developers.
Well, that would probably be because I they don’t have any (or at least as far as I am aware of). It’s really just an altcoin with some tiny tweak (imagine trying to release that as a new coin, it would be nearly worthless). -- when did bitcoin split before to now split "again"?!!
That would be because different developers wanted a Billion+ market cap the easy way.

Bitcoin splits again, creating a new cryptocurrency called bitcoin gold, question that have any future?
No, I do not expect Bitcoin Gold to have a future. It is a fork that has no use other than to miners, who will probably just dump all their coins they mine. On top of that everybody just dumped their coins they got for free - also bad for the price

This is very alarming for those who hold Bitcoin just to get Bitcoin Gold. BTG price is dropping very quick so useless for those who hold their bitcoin just to get BTG.
why are you saying that? I think BTG is very profitable, especially if we are a trader, BTG can give us big profits. and also because we get it for free Well, plenty of people got profits because it was free, but after everybody sells I’m just waiting for it to drop down very low. Other than the free coins it really has no use other than to miners, who will probably just dump the coins they mine (furthering the downward spiral).

Yeah i agree with that, it costed bitcoin a lot of money from the market capitalization, but we dont have to worry or complain about it, we all know that bitcoin rised a lot in the last few days, i dont see nothing wrong with it. But i still have some hope in it, like i always did. There are a lot of things that changed the price during the last two days, not only this fork, there have been a lot of fud that i have read all over the internet regarding to China, Russia, and some financial gurus from the USA..
I understand that some totalitarian countries might be afraid of it because it takes power away from them, but when Jamie Dimon bashed Bitcoin it really made me wonder if some financial are afraid of Bitcoin (since all Bitcoin would do is threaten to take away their business).

As aminorex astutely pointed out, the market won't turn until the bulls capitulate. In the past, the appearance of trolls and FUD was a good indicator of the tides changing, but such market patterns tend to collapse as soon as they're recognized. KeyJockey's post indicates a level of short-term uncertainty that leads me to believe we're about to see the next move up. But then again, I thought that was going to happen three weeks ago and I was wrong.
Welp, if it was easy to predict the market we'd all be millionaires. The line between trading and gambling is almost nonexistent. I agree and disagree with you at the same time: while you cannot guarantee a rise in price, it is possible to make a very educated guess and be right like 80%-90% of the time (especially when holding for a long time).

lmao cloakcoinscam did some really impressive TA huh guys? don't worry, you'll put him in his place once open source is dela- i mean, once it's released!
Someone should report him to moderator for trolling around. It is evident that this account on this forum has only one purpose is to talk negatively about Cloak, no matter what.
no i am actually very interested in the tech. specifically, i am interested in viewing even a shred of evidence that it is truly private- you know, like every single semi-legitimate privacy coin out there. explain to me how cloak offers greater privacy than zksnarks and how you know, since you've never seen the cloak code with your own eyes. Hey guys, you have to remember that there is a difference between “Trolling” and “Critical Thinking.” TheKookster isn’t wrong in questioning why CLOAK is not yet open source (remember, we can’t all be blind cheerleaders; although he probably could have worded it in a different way), however doubts like these should be fixed once and for all once the source code gets released.

It’s not really that alarming. Many people just held Bitcoin to get Bitcoin Gold because they would get free coins (not really caring about the coin or it’s uses).
I expect this to be the same with most all forks, until people realize that some forks are done just to create an altcoin with a high market cap.

I was in the understanding that BTG would be credited at nov 1. However I see it traded in quite a few places already; did some exchanges/wallets already credit BTG?
Apparently you can already trade on some Exchanges. I think on YoBit you can already trade BTG. The price will surely drop more on November. A little like Bitcoin Cash.
I can confirm this. In fact I have already sold my BTG on Yobit and I am expecting that BTG will just plummet once it hits the rest of the markets.

The entire altcoin market seems to be green and CLOAK is no exception. As of now it’s up 15.63% and @ 6.64$. -- Some of the comments reminds me of dash way back when it was still young. Been picking these on the dip . Yup, same here. Let em keep "fudding", it only helps us! But, in the real world, their words have no effect because they have no history which equals no knowledge. Any "dip" is surely not related to what they say. The market as a whole has much more influence that an ocean of fudsters, they are simply wasting their time unless someone is paying for it... Exactly. Less than a year ago DASH was sitting at >10$.

What i know bitcoin gold uaing different algorithm and every one who has bitcoin on their wallet will get bitcoin gold. It will be mined with gpu and i read somewhere there are 800k bitcoin gold secretly premined. Bitcoin gold not like bitcoincash. It is pure alt coin. So i think the price is not more then $10
$10? Not fair enough. You are basing the price because of the 800k premined bitcoin gold coins? Pre-mining is not that bad, remember that ethereum itself was premined too. Every coins out there needs a good developer/developers that will maintain the project. (Coin with no developers = dead = eg. DOGE) The bitcoin golds price should be better than bitcoin cash price because for real the 8mb block size right now has really nothing special with it. A lot of the community seems to disagree, and most coins that have a premine (other that a few of the older, more respected cryptos that did a premine/instamine like ETH and DASH) are valued less because of it.

People I know want to get free bitcoin cash just to sell it and make profit. I wonder who will buy all these coins...
The answer is: probably nobody. And on top of that there will be a lot of people trying to mine BTG with GPUs (or at least that’s what I expect seeing that’s one of the biggest selling points) and if the only people who use it are miners then everybody would be constantly dumping it, creating a spiral downward.

Many fake user profiles, trying to write good things about the project, on this forum... but at this state, Cloakcoin is more a religion than an existing coin : many people (hum, here, at least) speak about it but nobody has seen it in real life, never.
You realize that no altcoin (with sort of an exception form Monero, DASH, and Litecoin) has any adopted use outside of speculation and the occasional sale on the internet. In fact, that’s almost true of Bitcoin also. Not sure why that makes CLOAK bad, unless you want to de-credit altcoins and part of Bitcoin. Hate to sound negative, but it is the truth.

What do you guys think the price will be? Its name suggests that it will be expensive, yet its mining is GPU, so I expect it to be way cheaper than BTC itself. I am not sure if it will be around the ETH price though. Some suggest that it will start off around 50 USD due to people selling as soon as they get it, but I am not sure. Opinions, please?
While nobody can be sure, I have a feeling that most people will just end up dumping their Bitcoin Gold, and then it’ll end up at about 3/5 of the price of Bitcoin Cash.
