I hate to break it to you. You won't find much work here since you are completely unskilled as far as the crypto-industry is considered. The only thing that could have employed you were community management jobs which is although unskilled, requires a fair command of the written correspondence to communicate with the userbase. Which doesn't seem to be a problem for you.

Unfortunately, that kind of work has dried up as well due to the slump in the crypto market. Even when it was booming most work landed with people who've had previous experience in similar positions.

So my advice would be to use your time at home and scour the internet and find a niche where you want to serve. Obviously, you won't be a "pro" at something within a week and start to earn from it. But at least it would be a start that will get your foot in the door. Since you are already good at constructing sentences in English you can look for article writing jobs. Its a lot of hard work with not much pay but it is something. With time and experience, you can even make a living off of it.

Now, I have seen these kinds of posts and most of them are just time wasting scammers and if you are one then I have nothing to say. I am just typing this out here because I have a diabetic mother with a host of other illnesses and I can relate to your situation. Even if it is made up. By the odd chance where you're genuine or if someone else on the internet comes across this post of mine in a real situation like you've described, I hope these words can act as a source of hope, encouragement and minor guidance.

I recently acquired a new domain which I think has great potential.

Now, a train service already exists which is called "Kolkata Express" for many years now. In fact many trains that arrive here are colloquially called "kolkata express" regardless of which city they're coming from.
So the most obvious thing to do with this domain would be to set up a train booking & tracking app and/or something that has to do with the travel and tourism sector in kolkata.

But I want to develop this colloquially known brand beyond the immediate train info / travel guidance / local news sharing niche.

The name is so good that it can be it's own monthly / weekly magazine publication as well as a chain of fast food joints or cafes.

And frankly, what do you think this domain is worth? I have gotten appraisal values all the way from 0.02$ to $600 or even $800

Bad is an understatement. I wish I had joined another project at that time but I chose this one because he came through a reference. Trust me there were times I felt like I wanted to punch him in the face. I literally wanted to do it. Albeit I kept my mouth shut and just moved on.

MFChain guys have chosen to work with him, so it's their grave and I felt like keeping quiet would be a disservice to the community.

I've worked for him. He's a terrible employer. Worst week of my "crypto career".

You have two options :

1. Ask a trusted individual to hold your domain who would not run away with it and won't blackmail you. Just like how this forum's domain is owned by Cobra while Theymos is the acting admin.

2. The second option is to go with privacy protection companies.

In general when you transfer domain to services like, bigrock, godaddy, namecheap, hostgator or even wix for that matter, they offer you an additional service of privacy protection that you can subscribe for. They would only charge you a nominal monthly/yearly recurring fee.
