8121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin? on: February 22, 2018, 08:01:42 PM
As people here are pointing out, the chatter on Litecoin is very much alive. I do not think much of it is really healthy but most are generally positive, so the short and medium term outlook should be good. Remember that Litecoin made its biggest moves while no one was really talking about it. Except good old Charlie Lee of course.

I like all my coins for their simple discussions, not dumb and not without passion, but less of the shilling a lot of alts get these days. I would actually worry if there was a lot of talk about Litecoin by posters saying it will go to the moon TOMORROW.
8122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Over 90% of ICOs are a scam on: February 22, 2018, 04:37:39 PM
The founder of ETHEREUM said that over 90% of ICOs are scams. By participating in an ICO, you give your money to a project that probably will never happen. Every day a new ICO comes out ... but what surprises me is that many people invest their savings in these very high risk projects. I think it is much better to invest in real projects already listed on the stock exchange .... of which you know everything well ... For example, BANKERA looks like an ICO scam .....

I do not think scam is the appropriate word here as scams deliberately want to steal your money. But I agree that 99% of ICOs are not honest and truthful about what they really want to do with the money they take from investors. I mean, most of them do not have products. Most of them do not even have budgets, as in they do not do research to show how much things cost, so they just imagine a number and make that the hard cap.

I agree it is sad to see that people invest money and it is into absolutely nothing. But think about it. Did Ethereum's ICO really know what their funds were used for?
8123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will BTC dominate in 2018 or Etherium will take he lead? on: February 21, 2018, 01:43:44 PM
Ethereum is centralized, as demonstrated by Vitalik’s ability to command that “irregular state change”.  Among other things, I believe that is called a “single point of failure”.

There are some perfect descriptions, and there are some correct descriptions, I believe this is one that fully fits Ethereum. For such a long time, I could not bring myself to buy Ethereum or even store it, even when Bitcoin was having such problems with high fees and transactions. I know people call me stupid around my networks for thinking like this, but this is the point I do not like.

Bitcoin has many threats, but they are all indirect and can be overcome. I see Eth's centralized leadership exactly as the point of failure I dare not gamble on. So yes, today I have a bit of ETH, but I do not see me having it in two years. It can be whatever price it becomes, it will never win me over.

Thank you for always remembering DAO.
8124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: TheMaxx's ICO Investments on: February 21, 2018, 10:20:14 AM
Well, I had a bad experience with ICOs from last year. Spent so much time to choose a good project, even really supported it with my own effort as I believed in their concepts. And then after all the fuss, I got really burned when people dumped. Investors who got in through exchanges were able to own many times more tokens than I did as an early investor, so until today I feel very apprehensive about ICOs.

I really hope you follow up with progress, this is a good sample of how things would work out for ICO investors in 2018. Do not forget to specify your entry price (how much you paid for token).
8125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Gulden a good investment? on: February 21, 2018, 09:18:25 AM
So, testing for a few months now... and now they come with "It is extremely complex and must be perfect"?

Seems like they found fundamental, exploitable flaws in their idea.

Well I said it all along they wouldn't be ready end of Feb , at least they are clever and caring enough not to release a update with flaws. When they drop SegSig from development there is a good chance they will go with PoW2 and SegWit for a July release.

Better than all the ICOs who have raised tens of millions and have yet to even roll out a testing alpha for people. Of course every blockchain project is complex. I would say that perfect is impossible though. And do not be misled to think there is something that cannot have exploitable flaws. If there was such a thing as a flawless idea, then we would have no more problems to find solutions to.

Also looking to buy below 1,000. Looks very close to happening.
8126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay | Masternodes | Sanctuaries | POBH - ASIC Resistant | 10% ORPHANS on: February 21, 2018, 08:14:47 AM
Thanks for all the replies, everyone, I did not quote the separate replies because it would confuse this post and make it too long. It does seem quite interesting, and I am always on the lookout for a project that gives back to the community. I personally think there is nothing wrong with the name, but a future rebrand should be considered - just for the religious connotation (I know it is not).

The sanctuary cost is definitely quite high, but I suppose that is only me on a personal level. I will follow this with interest, perhaps take up one of the offers for a shared sanctuary.
8127  Economy / Economics / Re: crypto market demand is increasing on: February 21, 2018, 07:40:09 AM
It seems that it looks so, because the price movements does start to have the tendency of the price to continue moving up slowly. Yeah and but who knows.. it doesn't match with the predicted, hopefully no bad news / latest news that could affect to the price to falling back, due sometimes something we do not expected it.. it can be happens.
But honestly.. i still believe more, that the increasing in demand will be more increase again from time to time, from now and so on by the people in a various countries. Anyhow i think crypto will be more widespread in this world and more people are would be interested, even this currency would be more useful for everyday life.

So Bitcoin seems to have lost another 10% today, after building up a lot of steam from the 6k lows. I am wondering just that why the alts have not really done anything either with the rise or with this dip. There has not been any significant new news recently, so this is probably just the seasons pushing the market along.

Waiting for the new money to pour in, or are people busy looking at ICOs now?
8128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay | Masternodes | Sanctuaries | POBH - ASIC Resistant | 10% ORPHANS on: February 20, 2018, 04:17:35 PM
Hello guys, came across this coin from another post in altcoin discussion and I was drawn to your charity distributions, specifically the 10% orphan donations from mining. It is a personal thing for me, for reasons I will not share for now. I went to the website but could not find real specifics on this donations. Where can I find more detail such as total donated so far, and proof of donations?

I see only compassion.com but see also it can be voted. Where and how would I vote, for example?

Welcome Leea,

You can find everything related to the donations on accountability.biblepay.org
You can also write letters to the orphans!

To be able to vote, you need to have a sanctuary, but anyone can enter a proposal. They have recently voted 'yes' to adding our second charity: BLOOM (Be Love Orphan Outreach Missions) Smiley

Thank you very much for the information. I must admit I was not looking properly, or got lost that I did not find that link. Accountability is perfect for the blockchain, in fact, with blockchain making everything ready, there is no excuse not to be transparent and accountable. The sanctuary is a good idea, but do not think I can come anywhere close to owning one at that price. Is there any easy option to own part of a sanctuary and therefore part of a vote?

Also, this is just for curiousity but are you based in Holland?
8129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Gulden a good investment? on: February 20, 2018, 03:15:00 PM
"I'm not one bit interested in balance, what we need is productivity, only that gets Gulden to the next level. If this happens in a critical or euphoric way doesn't interest me at all. This slack is not something any user is entitled to, everybody is merely a guest here. We (Admins and I) decide what happens here, if we don't like something, we act upon it. It has nothing to do with democracy, no one has to be here."

I guess this says enough  Roll Eyes

I have always been against centralized coins, but then I held and still hold Litecoin, which was for a very long time led and determined by one man. He is still at the top today but has already let go of all his coins, so in a way, he already started his distance from it and has said he would stay only until the old ATH is reached.

My point is, it is okay for a coin to be led by one guy, if the community is okay with it. Is this community okay with that?
8130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Now even Super Mario has it's coin you can collect on: February 20, 2018, 02:10:07 PM
Oh, no. Why did you show this? Now I think I have found yet another app to kill my life, after successfully leaving behind some stupid games end of last year. Checking out the website and I did not even feel like reading the whitepaper, just wanted to refill all my lost nostalgia for these games.

And then the huge disappointment when finding out you cannot collect and it is not a game. It is a bloody ICO that does not even want to have proper strategy. I hate this type of project for killing my joy. But I cannot feel angry, just sad. Someone please make a game like this?
8131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Undervalued Cryptos: "Ripple Effect 2.0" on: February 20, 2018, 10:41:54 AM
Bad name. Ripple effect suggest some form of cause and effect. But that aside, I put my money down a little on Verge in your list to make consistent profits. Ripple is actually another of those in my mind. Ripple to again go to $2 at least for easy profits as I will always buy below $1. Verge I will always buy a while before it pumps. And sell a day after McAfee talks it up.

I do not see any serious holding for either of them though. No confidence in their decentralization and use.
8132  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2018! Bitcoin pump or dump? on: February 20, 2018, 09:49:49 AM
As last year at this time bitcoin was about 1k and it had a magnificent rise to nearly 19k in the last month of last year that's around 1000% increase within a year. It was a breathtaking year for bitcoin and the investors too. It was doing just fine in the few starting days of this years first month but went back to around 10k. Would bitcoin repeat its last years pathway and show a significant increase in its price or take the opposite direction!
What do you think and why so?

And it was an equally breathtaking year so far in 2019 to see the losses Bitcoin had, along with all the other alts. Bitcoin lost a spectacular 60%, but some others like Nano today have shaved 70% or even 80% of their ATHs.

Something tells me it will be an even crazier year when all these cryptos recover, and some alts finally die. People will experience high gains for some, and witness a lot of alts completely become useless. Newcomers who have been waiting for signs of recovery will see it now.
8133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the right length for a whitepaper? on: February 19, 2018, 02:03:52 PM
First of all, decide what the objective of the whitepaper is. If it is going to be a marketing tool, then decide what the messages are. If it is going to be a technical summary, then decide how detailed you want it to be.

Bitcoin's whitepaper was only 8 pages long! Plus 1 page of references. It was a technical tool to explain the technology, and so precisely done it only needed 8 pages.

But whitepapers these days ramble on because they forgot to set their objectives. For me:
1. Technical Whitepaper - whatever number of pages it needs
2. Marketing brochure - here you sell the idea, this can be as many pages, including ICO details.
8134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: KYC of bounty hunters on: February 19, 2018, 01:08:39 PM
Looks like we have another dope award to give out.  Lets bite our nose to spite our face.  Are you guys serious?  What region of the world are you guys from.

If you want to pass kyc anyone (besides maybe the poster above) can easily beat that system.  Its all public info.

After reading some of the posts in here you can see the bankers are already winning.  These cannot be real people making these comments.  I wonder where some of you guys are from.  You must have had dictators beating you down from birth.  Now I see why America stomps on all you guys and you sit there and take it.  The powers that be will run stuff forever until we thin the herd of sheeple.

I especially love the guys that want full background checks to protect them from the big bad cheaters.  May your chains rest lightly guys.  There is a reason you will never make it.

I think we have to face the reality of big ICOs now - they maybe are big bankers, they maybe are not. But if they want to go the route of ICOs, then their bounty programs also have to fit with the realities of regulations. In fact, if they only want to catch cheaters, then they probably have already done with success. I saw now several KYC bounty programs with SIMPLE KYCs have more than 80% fails. Not talking about getting passport verified even, just simple email and phone number verification. I think if people do not want to give this away, then they just look for non-kyc bounties. Simple as that.
8135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins You Think will Grow on: February 19, 2018, 09:26:21 AM
I think the low price coins like Deeponion, Ripple, Verge, Siacoin and Bitbean (Bean cash) these coins will be grow in 2018. You can invest in low price coins because they will gives you big growth in small investment.

These low priced coins are definitely very attractive because of their potential to grow, but they are also very prone to profit taking, which is why you keep seeing them crashing when they reach the 2x and 3x levels of people who buy a lot during the dips. I was a Siacoin owner for half a year, and even I was forced to liquidate when they reached my 2x entry. I knew it would dip and it did, like it is right now. As long as people keep mining those coins for a long time, you need a lot of patience for them.

8137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero to MoneroV switch? Longevity? on: February 19, 2018, 06:48:19 AM
The whitepaper looks interesting, i.e. limited supply, but should long-term, faithful holders of XMR get ready to move everything over to XMV after a safe waiting/adjustment period?

Which has best potential for longevity?

I tend to be very simplistic in my decisions, and I think it is safe to say a lot of long time users will be exactly the same in way of thinking. Let us look at Bitcoin for example. All of the BTC forks are supposedly better. Faster, cheaper, whatever. Bitcoin GPU was supposed to address the problem of hashpower and ASICs. But in the end, do long time users want to switch when actually the old tech is already solid and has a userbase? I do not think so. I will not be making my switch. XMR will be around long after the fork dies, and this will just make more forks.
8138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Market is RED reason》BTC is gaining on: February 18, 2018, 09:07:25 PM
I just read one thread about the red market "blaming" Vitalik Buterin.  I find that laughable.

The real reason is people are starting to bet on BTC again and selling alts even cheap.  It always go through this cycle before the alts really take off.  Some also use the opportunity to collect more alts later...sell now (high), buy later (low).  It can be a good way to play but very risky.  I used to do it but learned I don't have the nerve to be in that game.

Play it, or HODL...both are valid ways to go.  Just don't panic, bullish market is coming...BTC first then alts (may dip a little but) will follow. Smiley

This is really looking like 2017, if people recall, there were two distinct patterns that alts followed in concurrence with what was happening with Bitcoin. Early 2017, like early 2018, Bitcoin was beginning its move upwards of $1k and alts were dropping. This was attributed to people selling off alts to retake their shares of Bitcoins. But remember in spring when Bitcoin went towards $5k and ETH, Doge, LTC, and almost every alt was making new ATHs? This was crypto all in same mode.

Now we all just came off the "everything red" mode. And now it's back to "opposite of BTC" mode. Interesting yes?
8139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: OMG! Im finally going to be rich from this ONE coin! on: February 18, 2018, 07:00:59 PM
The timeline seems pretty boasty. A mobile app used for transferring crypto by person to person is common and isn't a new technology.
The only thing that could get this successful is if they can really manage to be partnered with many telcom worldwide. They are targeting atleast 10 telcom for half a year? With all the talks and discussion that's a dream.

thats what we called Far From reality, this is a common project and if im not mistaken its almost copied from other existing project(i might be wrong ofcourse)but theres nothing new about this.well what i can say is goodluck to your investment, but you cant have someone to join you in this coin because theres nothing to look forward too

I used to think like this but this could be another example of "coin that looks exactly like others and yet seems to do well in price". I mean, think about it. We had the big DAG coins just sweep the scenes like Nano/Raiblocks and even Iota, but they're DAG just like Byteball, and in fact appear no different. Or let us look at the Verge privacy coins that honestly do not provide anything special than already given by Monero Dash and ZCash. They still did well,,, so I guess I have no idea how to tell this market anymore. Is it luck? How well they shill? Is it the McAfee effect?
8140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beware Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash Pump and Dumps; There is a War Going on on: February 18, 2018, 01:47:07 PM
The only wars being waged are by the pretenders to Bitcoin, something I read somewhere and something I completely agree to. Bitcoin does not attack, it does not need to, because it just does its thing without needing to worry about anything around itself. Other alts are respectable and try also to do their own thing. The worst are those like Bitcoin Cash, deliberately attacking and trying to harm Bitcoin so it can be number one.

They never learn their lessons. Kill Bitcoin and you kill crypto. They just need to see how alts performed in January.
