8341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone else tired of suits in crypto? on: January 02, 2018, 11:02:21 AM
So nowadays its like, slap on a suit, pay an agency to write a great, professional whitepaper, bribe some famous people so they work as your advisor, visit crypto conferences wearing your nice suit, come up with an idea that sounds great, and *BANG*, you are worth $2bn?

When did wallstreet take over crypto? In this sense i hope Verge will keep being a success even if I sold mine for Colx and Zoin.

Sounds about right, does it not? We all feel that there is more and more a corporate feel about crypto these days, but I wonder if this was always the case anyway? I know people have some idea about who Satoshi Nakamoto are, but if you look at the whitepaper, you look at the early writings and discussions here, and anyway most of them felt very corporate, surely from business backgrounds rather than people in tee shirts and jeans. OK we have Vitalik Buterin who is a little different, but he is surrounded by corporates. I know I am tired of it, but I do not think we will see the end of it.
8342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: OMG vs IOTA vs ARDR vs STRAT on: January 02, 2018, 09:23:27 AM
Stratis and Omg.
Easiest bet for 2018 ever.
stratis will be the gainer for this year, I seen how Eth begin its journey after some years and seeing how stratis team/dev working
its giving a good sign that they are more than serious to achieved what they already started,.

Yup, I like at least two of the coins in that list, but only own one (Stratis). So of course my bias would seem to lean to Stratis but apart from Iota, it really is the one with the most potential when it boils down to development team and technology. But Iota loses out because of the poor management of its partnerships, I would say that dishonesty will take a while to overcome.

I cannot feel much love for ARDR, and OMG is going to be PoS so that might result in a long climb to the top as people stake to gain more, but I just would wait a little while more to see the results of that.
8343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Last chance to join the XLM train on: January 02, 2018, 08:33:31 AM
Well, i do think an investment in the stellar coin now is kind of good and nice. It's even suffice to say XML merits a trial. I am quite astonished at how out of no where the coin overtook many others and claimed a place on the top 10 list. Currently now its No 9 on list; which is a very good one for potential investors. I believe it will turn out good especially this year 2018. On the part of if one is not investing now, it may be a last chance; that isn't suffice to say. As high as btc is for instance, are not people investing? The truth be told if the coin remains on the market, people will continue to seek for it; even if it's warrant going to the end of the planet earth to get it.

I do not think it is a big surprise actually. I really felt bad when I missed out on this several times, as I entered Bitcoin late. This is a great example of a "airdrop" coin that used free distribution as an effective strategy. The one I did not miss out on was Gbyte, although I have only a small amount but I have high hopes. Great development, great new technology, useful wallet and growing community of users and merchants.

And 2018 still has about a third to distribute, what is not to like about it?
8344  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How keep control of investors in an ICO? on: January 01, 2018, 10:14:15 PM
You probably need to do a lot more research if you are asking these kinds of questions, my friend! But anyway, here are some clues. Now ICOs require people to "whitelist", meaning they register their addresses and emails, and then only after approval are they allowed to invest (this is not a donation, by the way, although literally the way ICOs run yes you are actually donating money!). Then, every account is linked only to an address already whitelisted.

Thanks to blockchain, it is easy to check how much each address sent to the ICO.
8345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple replacing Bitcoin in 2018 on: January 01, 2018, 10:36:31 AM
I find this an absurd opinion, but a very optimistic one. We all know that Bitcoin is the mother of all cryptocurrency and already build up a great reputation. For my personal opinion, it is very hard to replace Bitcoin, the probability is very low. Maybe it can be replaced but needs a  long-term speculation for it.

I also find it absurd, but not really because Bitcoin is the "mother". Yes it is the first mover and has built up a great reputation, but I think it is number one still because it has shown the strength of its principles more than any other alt. Even with all the drama, all the forking, all the socalled civil war, and all the crackdowns, Bitcoin is still there. Like other alts it has the speculators and profit minded traders, but it also has a strong base of users (yes! users!) and this community will be here for years.

Ripple? A long, long way to go, if ever.
8346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is it the Best Time to Sell Ether on: December 31, 2017, 08:03:47 PM
haha.... congratuaion! you had a wise investment. Although this is not the highest price, you can sell it now to get big profit and invest in other coins.

Or you can keep it for next year and participate in ICOs. It is the year of the Ether and the true value of this coin is yet to be know. Bitcoin is nothing compared to the newer alts.

Very good suggestion. I was very tempted to sell a little bit of my Ether when it topped $750, but now I think I will hold on to it for use in 2018. I see two possible outcomes. One, it goes to $1k and I make 20% more profit than I would have had I sold earlier. Two, I see a couple of ICOs that are very attractive and I can have some Eth to invest.

Okay, there is a third possibility that Eth becomes $400 and then I regret everything. But then, if that happens, it just means I hold some more til it recovers.
8347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin or Ethereum on: December 31, 2017, 04:38:46 PM
I want to buy some coins. Now the Btc price is around 10000$.best thing is buy btc or ethereum now

The price of bitcoin is at $13.300 right now and i think it will go up because in the last 2 days the price of bitcoin is fall. Actually Ethereum is also good, i predict the price of ETH will become big on 2018. So jsut invest on this 2 coins bitcoin and ethereum.

Best thing is always to buy alts whether it is Ethereum or otherwise when you feel that Bitcoin has reached its heights. This is when you get the best deals as alts tend to be cheap when Bitcoin is strong. Right now, Bitcoin is very weak, so you can see all the alts rising, some in fiat only but others mostly appreciating in double digit figures in expression of satoshi price.

So yeah, not a good time to buy now. Bitcoin will again recover, and you can see ETH will fall a little. That is, against BTC pairs. Go ahead and buy for investment if fiat is what you are using.
8348  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do you watch the price of your altcoin everyday? on: December 31, 2017, 03:50:45 PM
Everyday, I watch the price of the coin that I have bought. But sometimes this could cause FUD or FOMO if the coin pump or dump tremendously. I sold my coins when I saw the price go up, but missed out the huger profit.
I think if you watch the price of your coin everyday, it will put pressure on your emotion.
Some people just buy it and don't think about it, which could be good or bad.
What do you think? Do you watch the price everyday? If not, how often do you watch it?
How do you feel before you watch it?

I used to. I used to watch every coin I owned and a lot of other coins I did not own. Every chance I had, and first thing when I woke up, and last thing before I went to bed. Did it make me a better trader? No. It probably made me worse. I got excited some times, buying when I saw dips I did not expect, or selling too quickly. The best is, Set entry and exit points (that means profits as well as losses) and stick to them religiously. In fact, stick to it better than religion. Especially stick to losses, never change your mind. That way, you also do not stay glued to the charts every day. Unhealthy and ultimately unhelpful.
8349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which cryptocurrency will be the most profitable for 2018? Poll on: December 31, 2017, 09:26:20 AM
I am very surprised to see Raiblocks in this list. I liked the idea I guess, but if you look especially when it was very popular more than half a year ago when a lot of people were doing it, including yours truly. But what I did not like was how so many spammers came to use it, and people were hiring others to plug away at the captchas. But anyway, good concept still, algorithm that did not need mining power.

Anyway, my choice, and I hope I am right, is Waves. It has already grown quite a bit, for me surprising, but 2018 holds a lot more potential once people really sit around and take notice of its incredible platform and beautiful user interface.
8350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bittrex vs Binance on: December 30, 2017, 06:03:40 PM
Hello everyone! We are glad that you are enjoying our exchange. As you can see we have expanded our customer service outreach to stay in close communication with one of the most knowledgeable forums out there! Please join our thread and provide us with any feedback as we find it very useful.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2656125.0

Hey Binance. Some of us are enjoying your exchange, but some of us are of course questioning why you are raising the fees since you are still new and still have to compete with the big guys. Of course, fees will rise after a while, we all understood that. But with crypto prices going so high now, are you not making more money already without having to charge more fees? What is the plan for you to remain competitive and attractive? Just maintain fees below the big guys or do you have something long term in mind?
8351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Do you earn money from social campaign ? on: December 30, 2017, 05:04:49 PM
Yes, almost all campaign will give you social media campaign rewards but in order to participate you need to have enough followers for joining the campaign. Without followers you cannot make any money with social media campaign.

Followers are required for social media campaign, the more followers you have the higher your stakes.
But honestly, I just once joined twitter campaign and it just paid me small amount versus in what I get in signature campaign.

I really dislike these social media campaigns. You see a lot of those shilly accounts, they have several thousand twitter and facebook followers, but when you see the posts they do, or the tweets they make, you wonder, how on earth do these people get so many people to follow them when they just talk rubbish?

The only ones worth doing is youtube I think. If you have a good following, with a lot of viewers and commenters, you get double paid. From advertising and from bounty stakes.
8352  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounties - how do they work? on: December 30, 2017, 10:11:36 AM
Before joining any bounty program, I would also advice to check up on the project itself, and check the spreadsheet for the bounty participants. Generally if you see a lot of spammers, and they are also getting credited, then I see this as low value alts. The best programs require very high quality posts, as well as good content because they want good coverage and promotion. This means good projects and potentially better value for the tokens you will earn later on. It also means that good posters will likely hold their tokens, not dump them as soon as they are listed.
8353  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Free, instant, private and verified crypto on: December 29, 2017, 07:51:56 PM
I do not really understand what you mean by "free". Instant is almost unheard of, you can have very fast transaction times (but then these usually require a lot more confirmations so in essence you do not get instant confirmations with transactions). If you want free of cost, then you need to look for airdrop coins, but since airdrops these days require a balance of some other crypto, then you still need some sort of capital if you want a big amount. If you want to earn them from bounties, you still have to make effort. Nothing is really free. If not money, you need to buy them with time and effort.
8354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: altcoins for 2-3 years holding! on: December 29, 2017, 05:35:56 PM
Xtrabytes x1000 next years.

We have already 1,800+ currencies today so there are more still to come so I don't think investors are going to invest on higher priced currencies and Top Altcoins. That's why more investors today that invested into more proven more effective coins than newer coins.

I used to believe that to be true. But I think we can agree (or okay I will agree) that yes, newcomers and new investors will always buy a recognized coin, simply because it is easier to buy and that was the coin they heard about and can find most resources on. But as they stay and learn more, they naturally want to also be an early comer for a new coin. To make the moon on their own or whatever fancy way of putting it they wish.

And the proof is every day here. People are asking about some random coin I never heard of. People are owning 100ks of Verge, things like that. So newer coins also benefit from new money, that is for sure.
8355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can ETH reach BTC value ? on: December 29, 2017, 04:50:54 PM
Bitcoin and Ethereum are two different creations. They do not focus on the same market applications. But, there's a chance that Ethereum will reach or surpass bitcoin's value. Because the value of cryptocurrency is not bound to any external economical tool. ETH offers more than a decentralized trust-less currency providing additional value for smart contracts. Understanding its potential will make ETH higher than BTC.

Yes, I found it surprising the other day in chat when almost everyone was an ETH supporter, but none of them actually realized that Ethereum was not really built as a cryptocurrency, whereas Bitcoin was. Of course in reality they can be very similar. I know Ethereum has so much potential with dAPPs but the most that the majority of projects out there use Ethereum for is just to create tokens on it,,, which you can actually do with Bitcoin too if you wanted.

The only app I ever saw actually using smart contracts and used by lots of people was the game Cryptokitties Wink
8356  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins price falls down..! why? on: December 28, 2017, 10:04:24 PM
Because of the fake news from South Korea: it will limit the use of cryptocurrencies and bitcoins, and that's why today's crash.

No, that news is old news. Everyone knew what South Korea was going to do even before Bitcoin started crashing. For me, always follow history. Altcoins crash in cycles and usually this crash is across most alts, and in similar trends. So number 1 is usually Bitcoin price is going up. This usually means altcoins crash. And number 2 is just that Alts just experienced major boom, and corrections are incoming as per natural market conditions. MArket is all about cycle, what goes down goes up, alternating. This is just the nature of trading.
8357  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: December 28, 2017, 08:00:48 PM
1.35 now wow this is going above my wildest expectations, if it's getting added to coinbase right now will reach 2$
If this was your wildest expectation, then you either must not have been in crypto for very long or you are still one of the most sensible people left in this forum! Have you not been reading some of the wilder predictions for Ripple? I have seen 10k even!

Sadly, most EU/US exchanges are around 1.18. asian ones 1.5, and 1.35 is average, I guess

That is some heavy arbitrage. You should buy all your Ripple from EU then, and wait for them to catch up with the prices of Asian ones. Do not worry, it is small change. You just hold and wait for four or five big dollars.
8358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Ethereum a bubble? on: December 28, 2017, 07:22:04 PM
I used to really dislike Eth, but now I am more like okay, I still do not like you, but you are here to stay, so I guess I should learn to live with you. That is why I am also diversifying to Eth a little now, not because I support of believe in it but because it has built enough of a reputation (and almost made people forget its old bad reputation) to stay for many years.

However, I cannot say it is a bubble, no more than Bitcoin is. How can alts that fail because of games be a bubble, right?
8359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 28, 2017, 05:20:44 PM
Monero dropping along with Bitcoin. We could possibly retest the old lows (btc), then back in the fast lane.

Yeah, if anyone was able to buy when Bitcoin touched below 12k, congratulations. I really need another dip, a big one if possible, and if January serves us up the usual correction/dip/whatever you want to call it, I can really feel Monero also following that pattern, before renewing its bullish year in 2018. So come on, all you Bitcoin haters, sell it as hard as you can so I can get my own entire Monero stash.

P.S. Any Monero meetups in my area? Currently in Singapore or Thailand. I know there must be some people who value anonymity and privacy.
8360  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Detected super coin (go to the moon in silent) on: December 28, 2017, 08:19:13 AM
I do not think it is a bad coin, I remember they had a very good promotion campaign when their ICO launched, and there was a lot of participants (as usual mostly bad but also some seriously good gamer bounty hunters). So it is not exactly what I would call silent. Super coin, also I cannot say. Everyone is talking about 20 million gamers,,, that is more than a lot of countries use. If they really were that many ENJIN users, would we not see heavy trading volumes, or at least heavy transaction volume on the network? We do not. So it is still a very far way from adoption. The price now is still a result of pumpers and speculating.
