Spinning globe Earth is a virtual reality, the "computer" is your brain.

When you encounter visual information your brain performs a visual analysis. If you're told the pictures you're being presented with are from an authoritative and trusted source you just assume it's TRUE. You save "computing" time not thinking about weather or not you're being given manipulated images in an attempt to transform you into a mushroom; feeding you bullshit and keeping you in the dark.

Scott Kelly. A very talented and humble guy.    Cool

... who can't pronounce the name of a fellow astronaut that he was locked up with in a space station for months on end.

NASA: Scott, in few weeks we're flying you to space station.
Scott: Great! How do you pronounce this guy's last name?
NASA: Dude, you'll have months to learn how from the horse's mouth.
Scott: There's a horse up there?
NASA: Actually, it's a unicorn, but don't tell anybody that, especially if asked live on air.
Scott: Mum's the word! BTW, what will I be doing up there?
NASA: Experiments, comparing you're results with your twin brother's results.
Scott: Wait, I have a brother? What's his name?

I suggest watching the entire video, but here's the part where Scott asked about the pronunciation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RbHiDBEdhw&feature=youtu.be&t=205

It was happenstance that I watched the exchange live, not via YouTube. Glad to now find a source that I'm able to reference.

I just figured out how they're able to fake the wires floating in space: Helium-filled narrowed balloon-esque tubes painted to resemble wires et al.

They sure are good at remaining vertical with respect to each other. They're so good I'm tripping, and think I'm seeing manchildren in invisible jolly jumpers. I guess it's a special skill they pick up with all that rigorous training they get.

How as an individual can I know if the Earth is a sphere or a flat disc? What experiment can I do that doesn't involve trusting information from a 3rd party that would prove what the geometry really is?

there are various tests. the most expensive of which and most factual one. requires a helium balloon. gps tracker and black box camera (one that can survive a fall from great heights or disposable one to receive film from.) and as logic would dictate let the camera go while recording. itl reach an altitude where you will clearly see 1/3 of earths surface and see the curvature. the balloons will pop and the camera will fall to earth. use your gps tracker and be prepared to drive up to 200 miles away.

another test an be done by standing at the ocean front and watch a boat sail away. you will clearly see the boast disappear from bottom up thus meaning it is sailing along a curvature of earth.

or finally you can calculate the shadow cast by any given object at various times of day and find the the ratio between 2 objects shadows signifies that the earth is curved.

or finally you can calculate the shadow cast by any given object at various times of day and find the the ratio between 2 objects shadows signifies that the earth is curved.

1. Sending a balloon up has been done and everybody who didn't use a wide angle fisheye lens captured images of a perfectly flat horizon that rises to camera level. The images also show the Sun casting a hotspot on the clouds.

2. The boat disappears past the horizon due to perspective.

3. The shadows from Eratosthenes stick experiment show that the Earth is flat and that the Sun is a small object orbiting closely above.

Quote
To cut flight time, Boom's plane will cruise at 60,000 feet, where passengers will be able to see the curvature of the earth, while going 2.6 times faster than other passenger planes.

Quote
The firm even has record breaking US Astronaut Scott Kelly as an advisor and the craft will be built using carbon fibre, with standard jet engines.

Scott Kelly: I advise that the windows for the passengers be of curve-glass design so to better see the curvature, for flat-glass windows won't produce the desired effect. And, only go to 40,000 feet otherwise you'll bump into the doom, but claim that you're at 60,000 feet, safely assuming that none of the passengers would know the difference. One more thing. Tint the windows because being so close to the sun would have an adverse effect on vision.

Just came across this video, seems interesting.

Interesting video but one issue, he seems to go against the flat disk consensus with his "matrix earth" explanation. Instead of going off half cocked with a super mario brothers infinitely looping flat earth theory, why not use the time and date data to adjust the position of the land masses on the flat disk?

The quirkiness of this character and the absurdity of his super mario earth theory points to the unfortunate possibility that he's a controlled option shill.

Finally, NASA is offering up prizes designed to eventually get up above the dome.

http://www.networkworld.com/article/3048272/careers/nasa-competition-could-net-you-1-5m-for-next-great-airship.html?google_editors_picks=true

Quote
NASA this week said it was considering a new Centennial Challenge: Build and airship capable of long duration flight for scientific missions.

...

In this case the so-called 20-20-20 Airship Challenge would award seed money to the first 10 Teams to present and pass an Airship scalability review (~$20K per team). The Challenge would award prizes for successful demonstration of a stratospheric airship that would be required to accomplish the following:

• Reach a minimum altitude of 20 km.

• Maintain the altitude for 20 hours (200 hours for Tier 2 competition)

• Remain within a 20 km diameter station area (and navigate between two designated points for Tier 2)

• Successfully return the 20 kg payload (200 kg for Tier 2 competition) and payload data.

• Show Airship scalability for longer duration flights with larger payloads through a scalability review.
