Starting to watch this thread. I am also here to say thank you for making the initiative of giving the incentive for running bitcoin nodes. This is proof that bitcoin and altcoins can coexist and be complementary with each other.

Good to see some new faces around here. It's also proof that altcoins can be complementary to other altcoins. Tell all of your friends!

SUPER NOOB here. I cant get the miner to mine. This is my first attempt at any mining and It's just simply not working. Everything seems to be in working order without it actually working. I've tried different things and left it running all weekend with no results.

Can you post the .bat file you are running the sgminer with. Also what exactly is your GPU? I'm guessing that you didn't set the .conf file and rpc settings.

Basically, in your spreadcoin.conf (should be located in C:\Users\YOURUSERNAMEHERE\AppData\Roaming\ - if there is none, simply create a .txt document, call it spreadcoin and change the extension to .conf) file you need to paste this:

I honestly think we just need to ignore these trolls.  The miserable hydra has taken over and acknowledging their presence will only feed into their master plan (which I can only assume is to try and confuse us real Spread community members).

Luckily there is an easy test to determine who the real developer is and I have passed with flying colors [if I do say so myself (which I do)].

The test is to ask who has released the most substantive developments.  I have shown my highly complex code on forum, video of myself coding, and I have released the graphic mock up of the paper wallet which even the troll coins101 hailed as revolutionary.

With all of that in mind don't think that I have forgotten my work.

So I set it up exactly how you suggested and I am still getting the no GPUs usable error. It seems to not be able to access my GPU. I am running an AMD Radeon 6970. It was given to me to get started.

Erm, you should be able to mine. May I ask If you tried another coin, preferably on a pool to see if the GPU mines at all? I'm gonna suggest a way if it does actually work for other coins/algos but not for SPR as I remember something similar happened in the last.

If using the Spreadsheet that Coins put up earlier this year and using the max nodes value of coinsupply/2880 the ROI calculations for running a Bitcoin node are starting to look interesting if the price keeps moving up



I adjusted the max service nodes based on Georgem's original gif, but I doubt we would see the max number of nodes immediately, so the ROI should still be ok while the price keeps going up attracting more nodes and then competitive bidding for rewards.

In 4 years time, the VPS would need to have 1TB drive, so the value of each Spreadcoin would need to be approaching $5.

The issue will be bandwidth. When Bitcoin reaches 500GB-1TB, the bandwidth available from typical VPS's might start to cause problems.



If users host full nodes on domestic bandwidth, although they may get unlimited bandwidth the 'unlimited' terms and conditions might restrict some people to a 'fair use' policy. What's fair use? That is usually left vague so the ISP have some wriggle room.

The largest container ships move huge amounts to ports; ports move containers to trains and trucks; trucks move stuff to regional depots; regional depots push stuff in smaller delivery vans to customers.

Perhaps bitcoin needs a series of 3,000 - 4,000 nodes that are the largest ships; they give priority to data transfer to regional full nodes; these then serve SPV's.

This can tell you the regional demand, if you have a mechanism to collect aggregated data and use it to host nodes locally to where the SPV demand is highest. This would help a lot as nodes like to connect to peers that are able to serve up data the quickest.

What I think we need is a priority system. Maybe:

* If you're an SPV get your data from full nodes and only from full nodes.  

* If you're a node set to pruning, get your data only from full nodes.

* If you're a full node connect to other full nodes, but get most of your data from ServiceNodes.

* If you're a full node hosted by a ServiceNode, connect to other ServiceNodes to hold and sync a copy of the full blockchain, and ignore SPV's.

Needs to be thought through a lot better.
