Background:

Back in January, someone (we don't know him/her) posted a comment on an Azure blog post that Microsoft Azure should allow Spreadcoin onto the Azure BaaS platform:

https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/azure-blockchain-as-a-service-update-3/

Marley Gray, Director @Azure, said it would be great to have Spreadcoin on the platform.

Read more about the Azure Blockchain as a Service, here: http://www.coindesk.com/microsoft-blockchain-azure-marley-gray/

I don't recall seeing any details about the final vote, but it seemed like most people were for this application to proceed?

I would also suggest to get on one more exchange, Polo would be good.

AFAIK, we are going through w/ Azure application. Coins is in charge of that so he may be able to tell you more.

As for polo, I would like to pursue SPR listing there as well. They have an application form, but I don't know if we have heard back yet from them.

I would like humbly request georgem provide me with the donation amount I supplied to him on 1/24/2016 for the amount of 450 spr.  This donation amount was given under false pretense as he proclaimed testnet was less than a week away at that juncture.  Georgem, please provide 450 spr to this address: ShUDqLiFL9Fmo9DcbkLas53dUQQfn7ytpp

I've been with spr from the onset, I am wielding a bag that would envelop surrounding planets.  Not only has testnet not happened, but nothing remotely resembling an update has been provided either, after georgem proclaimed development updates would proceed in a weekly fashion, somewhere around a month ago.  Please either reimburse this amount or provide a fucking update.

lol

I know its not a lot of SPR to you and its more about the principle than anything else.

Georgem can also speak and account for himself, but I'll refund you the SPR and leave it as a dev donation.

There was quite a substantial update on the structure of ServiceNodes and an skeleton roadmap a few months back, so this is mainly an issue about communications and expectations around that from the follow-up to that update (the now famous, I reckon I can knock something up in 5 minutes post).

Cheers

I never asked for your 5$ donation, you just gave it to me, because you thought that'll allow you to influence me.  Wink

If you are looking for a "fucking" update you'll have to ask one of your buddies, in the mean time, everybody knows I'm very busy working on the next update!

This is not just about a voting process, it's about first understanding thoroughly what we are getting ourselves involved with if we proceed with azure.

I'm with gjhiggins about this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1392053.msg14145354#msg14145354

Following that approach:

...

No-one's permission nor agreement is required to pursue an application for MS to add SPR the list of supported alts (AIUI, it reduces to persuading someone to create and submit a Docker file for MS to add to an MS-hosted directory).
...

...the only issue is who does it.

The opportunity to run multiple services on a second tier was something we bounced around back in the Summer of 2014. Two years later and everyone is pursuing something that we pioneered as a concept and was both novel and different when we raised it.

The Azure platform is looking for packaged-up code and they are looking for projects with services.  As we brought this to the attention of the world, I don't like the idea of giving up that trail blazing thought leadership to copy/paste projects.

If MS Azure was looking for exclusivity, I wouldn't go anywhere near them. But a package build can be deployed anywhere, so I don't view this as an Azure only approach, but something that will be useful for ServiceNode operators regardless of where they want to host ServiceNodes.

Make it easy to deploy and you generate mass market appeal and hence competition for available spaces. Then the issue is about those who take the time to understand what they have deployed and how to make sure they can keep standards up to ensure they don't get bumped off the revenue split.

edit

We could even sell package builds on USB sticks, with Bitcoin full nodes already on them (give people the choice of Core, Classic, etc).  The profit generated could go to the dev fund.

I'd be happy to buy a package build, with 65GB bitcoin full node on it for $100 if it was something like the https://bitseed.org/shop/

@entropycoin

I understand your feeling ; but this waiting is like with Quatloo.

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/quatloo/

ServiceNodes and Quatloo-Trader III are coming very soon, I guess. Just be patient and you'll be hugely rewarded.
By the way, don't ask about your donation : 450 SPR aren't yours now.
Take your time, georgem. Wink

I was completely hammered when I wrote that last night, and regret doing so.  While it's true I'm not exactly elated with the lack of development updates or transparency surrounding this project, I could have certainly used a bit more tact!  I still am of the belief the ambition of this project can be realized and believe you are working towards that goal.  I definitely didn't see my pizza-sized donation as anything other than a small token of appreciation and will be returning it.  I'll refrain from any future development inquires and let them happen organically, but if you want to provide one tomorrow I'm adding an extra 5 spr to your donation address  Wink

I am slowly getting back on my feet.  I have been mining the hell out of Decred and VCash to try to get back some coins.  Also, I have hopped on and off the SPR chain to beef up my wallet a little bit.  Thank you for asking.

Coins that have recently been added to Azure: https://github.com/Azure/azure-quickstart-templates/pulls

Looks like there have been quite a few jumping on the ship recently. From Shadowcash's slack, it appears they've "applied" and been accepted as well

I was thinking a little bit about some of the initial data analysis service nodes could do - perhaps prior to some of the grander ideas or later down the road as a fun-ish project - and I think it would be rather interesting to analyze bitcointalk traffic / posting patterns. Maybe even formulating a method for determining leading indicators to and or predicting price movement. It could be based on frequency of posts in a particular forum topic, keywords that have been posted, and even taking other more disparate data from different sources - such as recently published articles, twitter trends, etc. It could provide value to traders or people on bitcointalk looking for cool coins to follow.

Hey!
The cryptoID block explorer does not show my transactions anymore. The balance is correct but the transactions stucks on loading...
It happens for about a week now. Anyone with the same problem?

The other explorer spreadx.eu is not that usefull for me because it is not showing the exactly correct balance and there is no possibility to export the transactions. You can see only the latest 100 transactions...

I've been thinking about this all day.

I guess the USP that we will have is ServiceNodes hosting Bitcoin full nodes. Very few people will be able to get hold of that data or replicate it, even though its open source, so we can set the market rates for the data.

Anything else, anyone can do. So it becomes a race to the bottom in terms of fees you can charge. Someone would quickly do it for free - just because they can.

Your resilience and attitude in the face of that recent coin theft you suffered is truly impressive.
I like many other folks here wish you much luck with your comeback.
