Having d/loaded v.0.5.1 from https://github.com/NebulousLabs/Sia-UI/releases/download/v0.5.1-beta/Sia-UI-win32-x64.zip, clicked on 1 click unzip and a short way into the process got an error message, so I aborted – here's the win zip log showing the error message:

Quote
Unable to process "Sia-UI-win32-x64\resources\app\node_modules\sia.js\node_modules\tar\node_modules\fstream\node_modules\rimraf\node_modules\glob\node_modules\minimatch\node_modules\brace-expansion\node_modules\balanced-match\".
Severe Error: Not permitted or able to create an output directory.

Anyone know if that's a problem with the file or would it necessarily have to be something to do with the OS I'm using - Windows 7 professional edition?

I think there is problem with too long path. You have to extract to c:\ and use "extract to". Not drag and drop from opened archive.

Have tried to sync the blockchain for the last 2 days without success. Both attempts get stuck around the 35,000 block height with the first attempt creating a consensus.db 1BG in size whilst the current attempt has it at a little over 500MB. Not sure why there is such a difference. Can someone here provide a download of their consensus.db file close to the current block height of 36,556?

Thanks

is there a file that captures the list of connected peers and is it possible to point to a particular peer like a seed node? seems very slow at adding blocks with no new additions since the client has started over 15 minutes ago. wondering whether my connected peers are seeing the tip of the blockchain or whether i'm the one that is reporting the known tip.

edit: left it running whilst at work and has now caught up.

sensible for redundance. Regarding trade fees Bittrex is more expensive then Poloniex, "All trades have a 0.25% commission"

Hi everyone

I download latest wallet v0.5.1-beta and it got stuck during sync. I downloaded that consensus.db and put into correct folder but it is just stuck at height 36,322

Any ideas to get me past this?

maidsafe will release it's MVP

seems maid is much larger picture than sia.  don't know what exactly it looks like.

but sia is a serious competitor in decentralised file sharing.

correct me if i am wrong.

maybe sia is working better than storj after full release.

airbnb cloud, this is what they call themself

Doesn't seem like Bittrex supports Siacoin. Which is odd when you consider they support 190+ cryptocurrencies... I guess its one of those exchanges where you pay them a fee to get your scamcoin listed.

MaidSafe has much more ambitious aims. Sia aims to cover one thing (decentralized file storage), and to do it great at a great price.

Sia currently works. MaidSafe does not.

quote

My very limited understanding of the nxt storage is that it is stored on the blockchain.  Sia seems to be using the blockchain to determine file storage contracts between hosts and uploaders.

Well I guess it's good to be happy. I bought a quite few millions at 12sats, but I'm in for the long run. I'm not a trader. I'd get burned.

I'd like to see where sia is at the end of the year. Sounds like a good concept. Storage for all those other blockchains that are dealing in contracts and decentralized apps seems like a good idea. The tech's not there at the moment but I think it will come.

if we look back how airbnb go viral in last few years, we can expect same thing in data storage. hope SIA will advance in this arena.

The concept seems nice. I like the branding and the wallet GUI.

Looking forward to the next month and years with Sia.

Seems that way. I like the fact that the devs are busy beavering away no matter what the price. Inspires confidence.
