For teams such as Nepal and Netherlands, the quality has gone down as a result of this. Also, remember that the current ICC fund distribution system is heavily biased against the associate nations.

The big news from European T20 Premier League (ETPL) is that Indian actor Abhishek Bachchan has become the owner of one of the franchises. The league received formal sanction of the ICC just two days ago, and it is being jointly organized by Koninklijke Nederlandse Cricket Bond (KNCB), Cricket Ireland and Cricket Scotland. Perhaps it was because of Rashid Khan's excellent bowling performance that the Afghanistan team was able to win the second Test match against Zimbabwe. What damage these small teams do is that in the group stages one or two teams beats a more stronger or popular team and denies thier entry in the Super 8 or whatever 2nd stage of the competition. It is in the 2nd stage that unexpected entry perform low and usually loses all of the matches.

That is why I think no matter how many 20 or 30 countries play cricket, unless there isn't any consistency and quality in them, they will just do not add any value to the cricket.

Cricket has turned into a regionally based game. This means it is popular in some part of the world, same as what we see with soccer. Different formats of cricket are being played. Most of the audience like test matches, but they don't have the time to watch them. This can be due to the time constraints. Now the short format of cricket has attracted people, and leagues have been getting popular all around. Based on the interest of the people, making changes to the format seems to be the right way of keeping people watching cricket.
