As far as Asian Games is concerned, cricket was first included back in 2010. But then the BCCI as well as the PCB was vehemently opposed to its inclusion, and refused to send the teams. The same happened in 2014 as well. India is sending their cricket team for the first time in 2014. Even when cricket was included for the first time in Commonwealth Games (1998), there was a lot of opposition from the ICC. In the end, the ICC managed to reduce the competition to women's only, and that too for just 8 nations.

If cricket is included in Olympics then the popularity of cricket will go to another level. For a long time, a question has been coming to our mind that even though all sports are in Olympics, why not cricket. Why Cricket World Cup is held with only 10 teams while Football World Cup is held with more than 30 countries. If some countries including India and England try as well as if ICC gives support then definitely cricket will be included in Olympics. Cricket is very popular in Asia but football as a whole is very popular.
When cricket is added to the Olympics, many European countries will participate in the Olympics with their own teams, so for the sake of cricket, cricket must be added to the Olympics.

I am not sure whether it will have any impact on the popularity of cricket. The ICC was suggesting a 5-team competition for the Olympic cricket tournament, to be played by the top-5 teams as per the ICC T20I rankings. There will be no qualifier tournament and I am sure that the IOC will not agree to such insane demands. More popular sports bodies such as FIFA and FIH allow their teams to participate in the Olympics as per the Olympic rules. Once Jagmohan Dalmiya was replaced with N Srinivasan-Sharad Pawar mafia at the BCCI/ICC, they have actually tried to kill cricket in associate nations. But that said, I don't agree with your list. Cricket is not that popular in Canada, USA and Saudi Arabia. There are hardly any natives playing the sport and it is mostly played by expats. On the other hand, there are associate nations where the locals are interested in playing cricket. Examples are Nepal, Maldives, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

@Sithara007 I feel that they’re trying to sell cricket in USA because the 2024 T20 World Cup is being held in USA and this shows that they want to popularise cricket among the locals. Furthermore I’m not sure if USA wants to participate in big ICC tournaments but them hosting the World Cup shows that they’re keen to play with the big countries but I’m kinda surprised too as I thought that there were less to none cricket fans in USA.

Second ODI match between England and Ireland lived. Ireland won toss and decide to bowling first. England batting performance has been commendable. England played 30 over and scored 194 runs while losing 3 wicket. Ireland seems to be difficult situation because bowling performance not good. If England continues this performance they successfully set a target of 300 or more runs.

Ireland right now need 73 runs in 37 balls. There is 27 runs last wicket partnership going on. Chances of Ireland winning this game are very rear but they are doing good by giving a good fight. England scored 334 runs in 50 overs and Ireland in replay are not giving a good fight by scoring 262 runs and still one wicket in hand. Ireland cricket is improving day by day and soon they can get regular test status.

Yes, Ireland team has shown significant improvement in ongoing ODI series against England team. In the previous series between England and Ireland , Ireland performance was quite poor but in this ODI they have improve many mistakes especially in batting lineup. First match suspended due to rain but in second match, England set a tough target. Despite England's already has a strong team Ireland has been working on correcting their mistakes and improving their weak points. The next and final match of this ODI series is played on 26 Sep and hoped that Ireland will show an even better performance than the previous match and secure a victory.

Lol. Do you know how many Indians live in the US currently? I think 25% of India's population resides in the US itself. Many of them are cricket fans. If you include citizens from other cricket loving countries, you get the point basically.

This is why it makes complete sense as to why the USA is interested in the beautiful game of cricket.

Out of the total population of 332 million, Indian-Americans are around 1.3% (4 million). There are a few million from other ethnic groups that play cricket, such as Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Nepalis, Lankans, Australians, South Africans and West Indians. But overall, not more than 2-3% of the US population knows to play cricket. And the focus of ICC has been this expat population rather than the natives. However, cricket is on the decline among Indians and other South Asians. US-born children mostly prefer basketball or baseball. And so far the ICC has failed to spread cricket among the local population.

In the match between England and Ireland, Ireland improved quite a bit but could not save wickets. The fall of wickets was high which ultimately led to an all out and departure from the field. If Ireland could have kept their wickets in this match, it would have been a competitive match in the end. Because I can see that England is a strong team compared to England Ireland is not strong so it is natural that Ireland has a weakness in these matches. The bowling line of England team is weak and has pace which is ready to counter the Ireland team. If the Tucker players of the Ireland team could have collected something, we could have seen a competitive match here.

@Popkon6 Ireland showed great resilience in this match and they came almost close to causing an upset but sadly they kept losing wickets constantly. Also even though England won they should use this match as an urgent wake-up call and further work on their game otherwise in near future they’ll be easily be beaten by the other team’s and lastly I expect England to perform much better in today’s match.

Asian Games men's cricket tournament will start tomorrow, with the first set of group phase matches. Mongolia is taking on Nepal, and Cambodia will be playing against Japan tomorrow. 9 teams are divided into 3 groups, with the winners proceeding to Quarter-finals. The five test nations are already given direct entry to the QF stage. So in total, 14 teams are participating. India will be hoping for a gold medal here as well, after winning the women's gold yesterday. But it is going to be tough as all the test nations have sent strong teams.

Some valid points. The ICC is actually trying to increase interest though in cricket through the T-10 and T-20 formats which is slowly and steadily attracting viewers from not just the US, but from around the world.

However, I disagree with your statement about interest decreasing among Indians. For example, IPL's constant viewership records every year disprove your statement.

Well.. you misunderstood my statement. I was saying that interest is waning among the Indian-Americans, and not among the Indians in India. I have heard several reports about American born Indian-Americans getting more interested in sports leagues that are more popular in that country, such as the NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL. Recently the USACA conducted the Major League Cricket (MLC) in a few venues within the US, but again interest mostly came from the first-generation immigrants. I didn't noticed large number of locals among the audience.

I believe that they will start the match at around 9am in Florida, which would mean that in India, the matches will start by 7:30pm. Even if they delay it by 1 hour, it will still stay in prime time. So I am not worried by that much about the match timings. AFAIK, the match between India and Pakistan will be played at the Central Broward Park in Lauderhill. On the other hand, if the match is scheduled at the Grand Prairie Stadium, then it is going to be an issue. The third venue (Eisenhower Park Stadium in East Meadow) is also in the same time zone as Florida.

Australia vs India

Today is the last match of Odi series between Australia and India 3 of 3. India already lead by two matches from Australia team both matchs win by India due to strong performance. I really miss this series and also I really enjoyed those matches and this is last match so I feel disappointed and other good news is that icc world cup will start on tomorrow. Now match in full suspension mode Australia set high target and performed top class performance in today and set 352 runs in overs. Now India batting started and almost match played they scored 171 runs in 27 overs. They need 182 runs in 22 overs mean in 120 balls and they still have a chance win this match and chase down big target.

Was listening to Twitter Spaces some time back and this Eisenhower Park stadium will likely host India vs Pakistan and the very same stadium is a work in progress.

Attendance won't be a big issue as stand capacity won't be more than 30-35k. Ticket pricing could be tricky tho, these guys messed up India vs Windies fixture (bilateral) by charging so much money.

But still, Ind vs Pak is the main event so people will surely line up for the tickets.

Ticket prices are very steep for major cricket events in the United States. So the organizers will be in profit, even if half of the stands are empty. Even during the Major League Cricket, the stadiums were mostly empty for a majority of the matches, but the organizers received a substantial gate collection, as tickets were prices anywhere from $30 and $98 (almost 5-10 times the ticket rates in South Asia). For matches involving sub-continental teams, there will be sizeable attendance. But I am not sure about those for SENA nations such as New Zealand and Australia.

Malaysia vs Singapore

Today is the 3rd match of Asian Games between Malaysia and Singapore teams. Now match has been finished Singapore won toss and chose to bowl first but this decide not goes to be favor in Singapore team. Malaysia team won today match by leading 73 runs. Malaysia team give a great target to Singapore 160 runs in 20 overs by losing 8 wickets. V.Sing and S.Aziz both players perform awesome in today match and V.Singh scored 44 runs in 34 balls and S.Aziz scored 39 runs in 25 balls.  In bowling lineup, P.Singh, A Rahman and M.Amir all players took 2 wickets against Singapore team. Single Player of Singapore team not perform well instead J.Parkesh
