Yes it's true in the ICC Cricket World Cup qualifiers Scotland and Netherlands played very well even they played better than some other teams.
Scotland may be underdeveloped so they are not given a match schedule against other full members but if Scotland can keep up the good work they can prove that the Scotland cricket team deserves to compete with full members.
If you say it's cruel, it's not about cruelty for a country that is associated with cricket, but that's actually what is happening.

I was comparing the performance of Scotland and Netherlands with some of the full members like West Indies and Ireland. IMO, they performed much better when compared to these full member nations. The ICC needs to consider giving them full member status, because they have proved their worth. The very fact that Netherlands managed to qualify for the world cup in place of West Indies is a slap to the face of the ICC. They designed this 10-team format in order to keep the associates out. And one associate team still managed to get in.

First of all, I think at least 20 teams should have full membership of the ACC in total. And in every World Cup, these 20 teams should be able to compete without having to play any kind of qualifier. Then I think we can call it an actual World Cup. I know this will be a little tricky to do in the ODI World Cup. But this can easily be done in the T-20 World Cup for sure. And that's why I said that the ICC should concentrate on the T-20 format a lot more than they are doing right now. They associate nations really sure to be taken seriously by the ACC at this point.

IMO, there should not be two tiers - full membership and associate membership. All the ICC members should have the status of full member. Funding should be done on the basis of performance. If Scotland and Netherlands are performing better than West Indies and Ireland, then the former should get more funds when compared to the latter. There is no excuse in granting $16 million per year to the WICB, when they are consistently losing matches against associate nations. Merit should be taken in to account.

P.S.- Remember when I am talking about this, I am not counting the top eight teams.

I think funding should be done based on two things. First of all, is the performance. If you are performing well you will get more money. And the second thing is the amount of native players that you have on the team. The more foreign players you have in the team the less money you are going to get. That is probably going to be the best idea.

And I also say this only for the associate nations and not for the top eight teams, because if we start giving money to the top eight teams just like as the associate nations based on performance, the associate nations are not going to get anything.

I don’t understand what is the problem with the Bangladesh senior players and the Bangladesh cricket board. I am pretty sure that this is the reason why Tamim Iqbal decided to retire. There is no reason for him to retire just three months before the World Cup. And I don’t understand if the players do have an unhealthy relationship with the players, why don’t the cricket board let the coach go and bring some other coach?

This situation has been going on for so long and it still is not fixed. I obviously respect the decision of Tamim Iqbal. But I certainly did want to see him play in the World Cup. He has given the Bangladesh national team a lot. I know that I have said I wanted to see him in the World Cup. But overall I think this was the right decision to make because if he did not perform well in the World Cup there would have been a lot of shit talking about him.

BCB has never been ideal sports organization which create good and positive environment for their players too much interference from politicians and lack of system and cricketing structure is also problem for this country even they are able to done good things but never been anyone interested in this, so we have too many controversies and unhealthy things which are creating problems and also never been allowed this team to have anything good.

This is the worst part of this all situation he suddenly announced before world and Asia Cup and for the management now having a player like him is never been easy because he already had good experience and understanding of International cricket which was helping his country.

In developed countries players announces decisions like these with mutual understanding and also never been in middle of the series if he has any problem he needs to talk with management and then wait for the end of this series which is surely going to be better for the all parties.

ICC should be giving more concentration towards the associate nations. Otherwise, the associate nations are actually going to disappear, just like Kenya. The performance of Scotland and the Netherlands was incredible in this tournament. And I honestly believe that they should be given the status of a full member of the ICC. Even after such a good performance, I don't think that Scotland or Netherlands have any schedule to play against the full members of the ICC any time soon.

There are cloakrooms near the entrance where you need to deposit all the items that are not permitted inside (obviously the service is not free). My biggest issue is with the washrooms and toilets. Despite paying huge amounts for purchasing the ticket, even those who hold passes to the high-end areas of the stands have to deal with toilets that are not well maintained. And in case you are in for an ODI match, which lasts for 7-8 hours, it is impossible to not to use the toilet. I have heard many horror stories, and in the worst cases toilets were not fit for usage by humans.

I don't believe that in all the stadiums and in the sections of the stadium this would be a problem. Well.. I can agree with your argument. Personally during the last one and half decades, I had mixed experiences with different sports venues in India (not just talking about cricket, but also other sports such as football and athletics). A majority of these facilities were well maintained, although crowd management was inexistent almost everywhere. But once in a while, the entire experience was ruined as a result of poorly maintained facilities where the washrooms were not clean and security arrangement was not up to the mark.

@noormc5 luckily all stadiums I been around worldwide were clean and if you have a valid ticket then you can ask the toilet to be cleaned there is no need to suffer. Furthermore in a digital age if anyone encounters such toilets then all they need to do is upload the pics on Twitter and soon it’ll go trending and due to the fear of public backlash I expect stadiums toilets to be clean these days.

Agreed. Managing the crowds in top sports like cricket, football etc is a nightmare. I recall reading a particular horror story recently where Indonesian football fans were involved in a crush which actually killed many people.

This is why I prefer watching sports from the comfort of my home in 4k risk-free.

I have the same opinion as well. During the last 15 years, I have attended sports events only 4-5 times. Indian public are more or less tolerant to being treated like shit inside the stadiums. I had a couple of bad experiences in the past and after that I decided to watch the matches on TV rather than doing so in the stadiums. To get an experience, it is OK. You will be in a crowd of tens of thousands of people and you get a chance to watch your favorite players in front of you. Apart from that, it is not worth the time and energy.

I can understand that one bad experience can ruin your feelings and you may not be willing to go and watch the match live again in the stadium. (or maybe only in that particular stadium)

I guess we are talking about the facilities in Indian cricket stadiums. Well, I would not recommend uploading those pictures on social media as it may bring a bad name to the country. Maybe one can take the pictures and inform the relevant authorities rather then making them public and those pics may act as an insult to the country.

LOL.. why should posting the pictures tarnish the reputation of the country? In that case there are thousands of Twitter users who post the pictures of potholes in roads and filthy railway platforms. All of them should be told not to do it? Doing so is the only way to get the authorities act on this issue. If you just send the pictures to the relevant people, they will just ignore it and continue doing what they are doing right now. The billionaire network haven't left any of the industry and now the focus is upon the sporting associated with media. Long back itself they're owners of teams and now the media rights. When the proposal is low than the previous one, it means some sort of insider game could've been played. @Sithara007 Hotstar definitely has some streaming problem and it lags a lot even when you’re on their paid plan with no ads so let’s hope this time we’ll get better streaming. Lastly coming back to the Asia Cup Bangladesh disappointed me with their performances yesterday because I felt that they could have definitely scored more and then put in better efforts to defend their low target but in the end they just let Srilanka win the match comfortably.

If you count in USD then it does look bad but it looks alright when looking at INR (Bidding was in INR). BCCI knew that there won't be any bidding war due to various reasons and that's why they only wanted a base price to cover, in which they succeded.

For ACC and ICC tournaments, you still need to subscribe to Hotstar. And in case you want to watch some of the quality test series such as the Ashes, then you need a subscription for Sony LIV. Anyway, people like me watch multiple sports, and not just cricket. Asian Games, Olympics.etc are also important and at least some of the Indian audiences may therefore go for other OTT platforms. And it needs to be seen how this monopoly can impact pricing. For how long JioTV will stream matches for free? At some point, they are going to stop free streaming.
