Isn't it basically,

"Dude!  Stop moving around so we can hit you!  Nothing we say sticks!  We want to shoot your arguments and your attitude dead!  So you need to get up real close and stand really still because we aren't very good shots!  And shut up, too!  Don't distract us while we're aiming."

<Disclaimer, using "shooting" only to make the point.  Not advocating shooting anyone, lol>
