Not saying don't speculate, I'm suggesting you should go explore the rest of the forums and boards here. Learn all you can, and then you'll have a basis for well thought-out questions or commentary that hasn't been asked/posted a few dozen times already.
Every concern you had/have about BFL has been discussed to death many times over on other threads all over bitcointalk.org. They aren't that hard to find with a little effort and determination.
BTW, I wasn't calling YOU, specifically, a noob. I was referring to noobs in general.
Go forth, and bitcoinify.

Of course they're a scam. Six months late with a short video of a little single SC modded prototype doing less than advertised hashes @ 6x advertised power consumption? ...and what's with the HW errors? ...wanna buy a solar powered clothes dryer...only $1299! Run away if you haven't already. At this point they should be using some of that pre-order money to lure someone from the Avalon or ASICMiner teams to help them...they're plainly in way over their heads. |

If you guys paid with your CCs, I would suggest requesting a chargeback within 120 days of your transaction, otherwise you'll be out of luck (assuming it is a scam).
Visa/MC have 120 day limits on chargebacks.

Funny, if you DIDNT pre-order in bitcoin when they first announced pre-orders than you could buy their most expensive unit for what you would have paid then for the Jalepeno. I demanded a refund after the first of the year and recieved less than half what I originally paid, about 11 bitcoins - Those 11 bitcoins three months later can buy a 60gh/s unitOf course, they promise at least a 2 month lead time from order placement - That's a very long time for such a volatile currency. |

Bc ur ASIC build is gonna out perform both companies. Lol, forget BTC/LTC these boards are gold. What a grand new passive aggressive frontier in which we live. I chose BFL bc of wattage, and I hadn't heard of Avalon/didn't have 75BTC which at batch 3 openish was 4,500USD-ish, now it's a lot more. I have faith in BFL, they've delivered before and will do so again. Put it this way, if you're posting on this board, you are already ahead of 95%+ of the people. Get some BTC, save some, mine a bunch and look back at this time for a laugh bc we are all winners here. I just stumbled upon this last month, I was minimally jaded/very skeptical at first bc I found out why my MacBook wasn't sleeping due to a netbot Trojan, now I can't sleep bc my starter rig is humming away. I certainly can understand how months of waiting can drive you mad, but try to use that energy to good use. I'd say the "real"money is building beater starter rigs n selling them on eBay but hey, what do I know. Cheers to BitCoin Mining : ) |

It seems strange to me that there are not other alternative to avalon and bfl, is so hard to put an asic chip... the entire board seems relative small and simple and probably exits already developer boards available from the chip companies
Just for curiosity, anyone know wicch chip bfl use? Maybe Altera?

LOL - you clearly don't quite know what an ASIC is. Altera are programmable chips - FPGA's. I programmed a lot of them when I worked for Beckman Coulter. ASICs are custom made chips. They are very efficient because they will only run that one single application they are built for. You have to design the chip yourself, then pay a wafer manufacturer to make it for you, and they don't like to make stuff in small quantities. Building an ASIC is not an easy task, and its not cheap either, which makes me very suspicious of the BFL Jalapeno.... |
