Of course Real Madrid prefers to extend the contract with Carlo Ancloti because they feel his coaching style is suitable and by extending Real Madrid there is no need to adapt again to a new coach, after all Real Madrid has become an important part of Carlo Ancloti because this coach prefers to extend his contract and refuses coaching the Brazilian national team. That close competition you are talking about ended without success for 11 years in a row and Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga title every single year. It sometimes looked close, but Dortmund never won it. Now it is beginning to get serious for Dortmund and they have four games now that are rather easy and should be won. If they don't at least get 10 points out of those four games, I doubt that this is going to end with the qualification for the Champions League this year. They have all the hard games towards the end of the second half of the season and I doubt that they will win a lot of those games against teams like Stuttgart, Bayern or Leverkusen.

Dortmund are one top teams of the Bundesliga who usually are consistent in coming to the UCL. Yes they’ve been inconsistent this season after losing most of its key players but one sweet thing is that in that inconsistency, they manage to go through to the last 16 of the UCL, which is one thing i love about this team, they always manage their players and use what they got to go forward in the UCL.

I can understand why they would prefer something like that, but they also need to act quicker if they want to get someone as good as Xabi. We've always competed with Bayern, but this season feels different. The team's inconsistency worries me, especially with Bundesliga competition heating up. Edin Terzic has made changes to fight in the second half of the season, starting with a change of assistant coach, perhaps this will be followed by recruiting several new players in the transfer window which will open tomorrow. It's true, Dortmund must balance stability between the UCL and the Bundesliga, the club priority scale now is domestic competitions, the UCL match break should be used to create consistency in the Bundesliga.

Nevertheless, the gap at the top is just as small as the gap at the bottom, because 6 points separate them from a Champions League place and that is absolutely possible to reach. But I don't think they will make it.

maybe things will be better in 2024. because the dortmund coach will now have a good co-coach . assistant coach Edin Terzić will be Nuri Sahin from January 2024.
Nuri Sahin has been coach at Turkish club Antalyaspor since October 2021 . now he is to support Edin Terzić . and ex-professional Sven Bender is also part of the coaching staff at borussia dortmund with immediate effect . i am now curious to see if there will be better results for dortmund in january and february . otherwise the club will not qualify for the champions league . there are still a lot of points to be won in the next 18 games . but i think dortmund will be in 2nd-4th place at the end of the season

Personally I think we got used to see Dortmund a very strong force in Bundesliga but lately they are not so strong at all and they also need to change a few players withing their squad because it's clear that something is not working.

I also don't think that they can achieve UCL spots this year or they will achieve it with a bit of luck and help from teams like Stuttgart ( who are 3rd place ) and Leipzig ( 4th place right now ) but it kinda looks like top 4 are already locked in.

Well I think Xabi Alonso has made his marks at Leverkusen and it’s very excellent to bow out when the ovations are loudest. Yes he’s eyeing huge success at Leverkusen this season and it’s very possible. Yes, he has to face higher challenges but that’s not necessarily important if he wins the UEL this season and maybe the league; he can just go home and have a good rest and come back refreshed when he finds the perfect club.

 Yes, many European clubs wants him but the rumors were Madrid, unfortunately Don Carlo has been handed a 2 year contract and that already rules out the rumor of Xabi coming in. I feel he should rest a season and come back better and refreshed, maybe by then he'll be fully prepares and sure that he's ready to take the role of a manager in a top flight club, maybe his other previous club Liverpool or still Madrid in future.

I'm looking forward to Xabi, who is rumored to be coaching Madrid. That's because Don Carlo is rumored to have agreed to coach the Brazilian national team. but in the end, Madrid and Don Carlo agreed to extend his contract.
Xabi's performance with Leverkusen was extraordinary. Leverkusen showed many changes in the game. If Leverkusen maintains their performance they can take the Bundesliga trophy from Munich's dominance. they must try to keep Xabi for several seasons. The experience that happened to Napoli in Serie A should open the eyes of all clubs.
