Today is the final of the Next Gen final and two unlikely players face off against each
other after beating all opposition including what I thought could be the finalists,
Fils and Michelsen.

So todays final is: Fondseca v Tien.

The odds reflect Fonseca's favourite title @ 1.37 against 3.70 for Tien.

Interesting story about Fonseca - seemingly he wanted to play college level
Tennis but SINNER persuaded him to go full pro saying..."You are definitely good enough"

As you may know, italians are still impressed by Sinner and tried to find some example to "explain" the record he made at 23 years old Roll Eyes
https://www.repubblica.it/sport/tennis/2024/12/28/news/sinner_rossi_mennea_pantani_tomba-423909510
the awesome season for Sinner is the number 9th of the whole ATP history 92.4% of win for him in 2024. Actually the record is 96.5% by McEnroe.
Well, he has probably no more than 10 years as professional player. He will be at top level for a long time for sure.
Nike was looking good on him some years ago... Roll Eyes did they are making something similar with Fonseca? Grin

Thats a serious record already by Sinner.

I was watching one of the United Tennis matches today and the commentators were
talking about Sinner v Alcaraz and who would ultimately win the most Grand Slams, they
both agreed that Sinner would but I guess we will have to wait many years to find out.

Italy are in top spot in the tournament in group D without sinner!

They play Czechia tomorrow, Paolini v Muchova, Cobolli v Machac.

Italy out from the United Cup. Both Cobolli and Paolini have lost their matches.
And yes, also Djokovic is out from Atp 250 of Brisbane. He lost the match against Opelka.
What we can expect from him in Austrialian Open? I have some doubts on his performance but let see... Roll Eyes
for sure this can be a good news for Sinner Wink

In Italy this year the biggest bomb for 31th December 2024 was dedicated to Sinner!
Nice update from "Ball of Maradona" Wink

Today we have quarterfinals of the ATP Brisbane where we have one big surprise as ATP 293 Reilly Opelka dumb out ATP 7 and top seed for this event Novan Djokovic with the score of 6–7 and 6–3 which is big setback for Djokovic as he is looking for return into top ranks with also having good performance in Australian Open.

In other quarterfinals, we have all favourite wins their respective matches and have spots into last four with tomorrow we will be having matches between R Opelka vs Mpetshi Perricard while second semifinal will be played between now hot favorite for title Dimitrov G vs Lehecka J with most chances we will be having final between Dimitrov G vs Opelka.

Didnt expect such an easy lose from Djokovic against Opelka. Djokovic won pretty easily in first rounds and to lose against Opelka is shocking. Djokovic is know for his return and against big serve players he was good but i guess a bad day comes and Djokovic still cant win a title even when he was an apsolute favorite to win the entire tournament

Yes beaten in 2 sets. Djokovic wont be happy with that, bad start to the season
against #293 Opelka. I am actually watching the match on playback and have
to say Opelka hasnt played this good for a VERY long time.

I think it bodes very well for Sinner.
TBH Novak IMO wont be winning the AO, he is older and is beatable by all the Top 10
players. I know there are a lot of people who wont like to hear that but he is closer to
retirement now

Well, Opelka was injured for a long time and he’s ranking doesn’t matter pretty much because he is really good player and a good serve player and I think that he has a future but injuries caused him a lot of problems, but I didn’t expect from him to win this easily against Novak Djokovic And I really don’t know how good Djokovic can play on the Australian open. If he plays this badly, Djokovic didn’t win any tournaments in the last year except the Olympic Games. He needs to start winning this season, but so far he doesn’t look promising.

Performance like this surely asking for quick decision about his future from Novak Djokovic as he is now having no depth with service is also not working as we have from him in past if he can lose like this from a player ranked #293 then surely top ten can do things much better against him with Sinner is going to have good time in 2025 as well because we have no serious threat for him from any player while he could be at the top of his game.

Most chances if we have no good result from Novak Djokovic in AO then we will have retirement announcement from him because this could be much better and honourable end of this legendary player and also going to be end of big 3 era which rule the Tennis for decades.

Retirement will definitely be on the horizon if he fails to win any tournaments this
year too. He will have to realise that many more players can beat him now and
he isnt the force he once was.

I am following Naomi Osaka who plays the final in the ABC Classic in Aukland NZ.
She plays Tauson but no odds are available.

I would love to see her win this and go on to have a better season than last. She
can become once again a player who can challenge the top players.

Naomi Osaka today had to retire from the final in Aukland with a stomach injury,
she had taken the first set 6-4 but couldnt finish. I really hope she is well and able
to play the AO? I believe this could be a very big year for the former world no.1

United Tennis champions are the USA, today Coco beat Swiatek in the first match
and Fritz beat Hurkacz in 3 sets of great tennis!

Getting closer now to the first GS of the new year!

Now after few hours we are having finals of the AO qualifications then in just few days we are going to watch mega Tennis event in Melbourne where things could be heated as Novak Djokovic is trying to have his best against big guns of new generation like Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz as he is looking for his record 25th Grand Slam crown.

In 2024, we have no title for legendary player former no 1 now he is entering into this event for having change of fortune, or we are going to have another end of Tennis era after two big gone now he is last one from these who is still competing for big wins.

Don't count Djokovic though, I would agree that he is just the last man standing amongst his contemporaries as the 3 of them retired already. But it's obvious that Djokovic is the younger so he still in the league and still chasing championships and Grand Slam.

But we all know that sooner or later Father time will caught up on him and there will be a new set of players to take over like Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, however, Djokovic is not going to give up that easy against this young players.

So far the outright odds are Sinner as the favorite, followed by Alcaraz and then Djokovic and Zverev, and rounding the top 5 is Medvedev. So it's going to be another great AO for this year.

Today line-up are completed for the first Grand Slam of 2025 with Sunday 12th January could be first day when we have first round matches will be started for this mega event in Melbourne we have all seeded players are well set for having to give their best for this new era after big three gone, and we have only Djokovic who is still trying his best for bringing big wins, but his current form is surely not enough for having wins against these new generation players those are doing good work and trying to make their mark in Tennis for next few years.

Jannik Sinner is favourite for the title with Alcaraz is second seeded, and we have Djokovic on third but mostly are believed now it's almost end of this legendary player, but he still wants to fight till last drop of blood.

Yea it looks like its Sinners to lose, cant see Djokovic doing it, and TBH I think there
is a big chance of him not even reaching the final, I just think there are more players
now who can beat him easier than last year. What he does have to his advantage
is the cast experience in GS' and over 5 sets, he has come back to wing matches
after dropping the first two sets.

Anyway, It would be a dream for AO to have either of the 3 in the final, Sinner,
Alcaraz and/or Djokovic.

Outrights today:
Sinner 2.2
Alcaraz 4.4
Djokovic 5.5

For me Sinner is the favorite. He is the only one that looks like he win all of the match and play at the top each match. Alcaraz with one bad day can be knocked out like he was in some previous big tournaments. While with Djokovic you never know lately,he plays good first couple match then out of nowhere when you arent expecting he losses,i dont know if its because of his form or because he is old but he isnt the same player anymore.

That's the thing with Djokovic, sometimes there were games that it looks like he is intentionally losing the first set to some players and then suddenly shifts his focus and just blasted them in the next couple of sets. And that's what really separates him for the rest of the players.

But it's a tough draw for Djokovic though, him and Alcaraz are in the same bracket as potentially they can meet in the quarterfinals and it's possible that Alexander Zverev will be waiting for them in the semifinals.

On the womens,  Aryna Sabalenka is attempting to win here 3rd straight title, the last women who did it? Martina Hingis (my memory is still fresh watching Hingis in the late 90's).

I dont think he losses them because he wants to,he is just old now and probobly losses focus and then later needs to chase his own mistakes and in some previous matches where he losses the first set he losses the match. Ever since he won the olympic games its like he dosent care anymore about playing,he dosent have that fire anymore to win titles. This is his tournament but i dont think he will go far.

Checking the outrights for the WTA at AO, Sabalenka is favourite at 3.2 followed by
Swiatek at 4.5 and Coco close in third at 5.0.

The thing I noticed over the last season about Swiatek is that she can be very
inconsistent and lose matches she really should be winning.

I was looking out for Osaka to see if she is playing and she is after her injury
last week, her outrights are 40.0 and Paolini is 25.0. I wonder what upsets await us?

Today last day of all events before start of AO in two main WTA events success for the Americans as 29 years old Madison Keys own 9th title of career while second in Adelaide. Madison Keys is having current 20th ranking in WTA while we have no good chance for her to have good result while usually she reaches into last easily.

McCartney Kessler 25 years old won her second title of career while she beats Elise Mertens in WTA Hobart it's good start of both even both are having not good chance to create any upset in AO with we have too many big names which are going to be done their best for having good performance in first GRAND SLAM of 2025.
